Few places seem to be open in Cuenca on Monday except for the tourist traps in the Plaza Maya. Further down the road is El Secreto and we were very happy to find it open and not in need of prior reservation. We had a good meal and the service was good too.

Monday is a dining problem in Cuenca, with many restaurants closed for dinner, including Olea, Romera Bistrot, Taberna Albero and Posada San Jose. But El Secreto was open and was a delight. Beautifully presented zucchini rolls, filled with cheese, an excellent aubergine salad and superb, rare grilled loin of venison. The puddings were good, as was the wine by the... More

Garlic butter and croutons on the table to nibble at. Very nice touch. I started with a dish of artichokes that promised more than it delivered really. It came in a bechamel sauce topped with cheese and had prawns inside which were tiny because of the heat and length of time of the cooking. The juice from the prawn heads... More

Massively disappointed in this restaurant especially after reading such good reviews. Booked a table 6 weeks in advance and included a high-chair with my booking. Stopped by on arrival in Cuenca to confirm the booking and the high chair and was told everything was confirmed. Turned up for our meal only to be told that their one and only high... More

We had a great meal in this restaurant, good selected food material, tasty, and with good service. Although we have to wait for the seat for 20mins, but we think it is worthy for it.

Nice little restaurant just a few minutes from the main Square . Interesting decor . Starter cheese wrapped in Cucumber was ok to much for one would be better to share . Venison Stew tasty but served in a metal dish that was cold so the meal was just warm and soon got just about warm . A dark winters... More

We tried the Bacalao the table of cheese and the Parrillada. Both really nice and fair enough for 2 people. Avoid asking too much food unless you are hungry!

Have been in here at lunch with friends and cannot say that it was worth eating here. Suggest to book a table just to do not lose the chance of trying it also because doesn't have so many tables. Typical Spanish dishes and typical Cuenca's region food ( estofado de cervo for example, amazing !) The staff is nice and... More

Found this place by accident as it was one of few where we could eat outside in a sunny spot. Great location just off Plaza Mayor with views and just a few steps from the Hanging Houses. Menu del día was 12 euros... seafood soup or homemade vegetable quiche then salmon fillet or roast pork with homemade crispy wedges, desert... More
