A picture perfect beautiful day and our first visit to Estuary Restaurant at Brooklyn, almost beside the Brooklyn Bridge. Meet & greet was warm and sincere. Ordered sparkling water and it was plonked on the table, not opened, not poured. Specials were told but the waitperson could not remember what the vegetarian dish was, a quick exit to go back into the kitchen to ask the chef! Garlic prawns with shimeji mushrooms and pita bread was well executed and a pleasure to eat. The potato scallops on the menu was a nice retro side dish albeit a little oil logged. The duck breast with duck confit with red wine jus, the confit Maryland was good, the breast with thick and plump however the skin was not crispy and the skin was rubbery. The jus was a tad salty, needed a touch of sugar and some red wine vinegar to lighten it as it was very unctuous and dense on the palate. The side salad was huge! My wife’s vegetarian dish was a plate of fried tofu, fried broccolini and a lot of salad a huge main course, despite us requesting an entree size. Brûlée with churro was good, despite the churro being a bought in product as it appeared to be. The chocolate fondant with vanilla bean ice cream was ok, lacked refinement and they obviously were running out of ice cream as a teaspoon dollop was only given that seemed an afterthought. Wine list was small and had only entry level wines all around $50-$60 nothing available for those wanted something better. Was it worth $303 for the two of us, probably not. But then again there’s that view on a great day like today! 12/20

This has been one of our favourite ‘long lunch‘ / special occasion restaurants for ages BUT no longer!
Our lunch on Saturday felt rushed with everything being packed up around us from 3 pm onwards, given the prices the service was nothing like it has been in the past, e.g. food passed across people, serve our own wine, no bread with meal ... apparently because of covid?? Not allowed to share food, surely you serve individual portions, interestingly we had a shared salad!
Waitress obviously thought we had a hearing problem as she kept shouting at us vs a normal speaking voice.
Total disappointment and particularly as we had raved about it to the friends who were first timers there.

Have had a wonderful meal here last visit but menu has changed .... Great service from lovely ladies but a lump of dry shredded cabbage and heavily crumb style battered dry pieces of fish not worth $40 .... No apology as "other guests enjoyed it" ..sadly won't be back... I'll go to the beautiful restaurants at the Spit.

Food was excellent – not just the average fried up fish but a truly tasty meal.
Service was good.
Water views of the Hawkesbury and the water traffic were very pleasant.
The whole atmosphere was spoilt by the acoustics, when a toddler decided he didn’t want to be there and screamed and screamed.
So, Mum and Grandma raised their voices to speak over toddler.
Hard concrete floor and hard walls made a perfect echo chamber.
At a table of 7 we could not hear from one end of our table to the other.
Eventually Mum got the hint and took the toddler out.
The rest of the restaurant had adjusted to shouting and so a quiet lunch turned into a difficult lunch.
Then came the bill !
$12 for a child’s plate of chips, $12 for a Latte and $15 for a bottle of sparking mineral water (which was regularly resupplied). It really gave me indigestion.
Some things the management can’t control and some things they can.

Table friends for annual catchup. We have, as a group, dined here a couple of years ago and, returned because of the view, atmosphere, food and service. Such a disappointment. Arrived 12:15pm left 2:30pm.
1. no accessible toilet paper in bathroom … advised floor staff and still no accessible paper when we left.
2. Three different wait staff asked same questions in relation to drinks orders, food orders etc and two advised same specials. Clearly no cohesive approach to looking after allocated tables.
3. Seafood ? No barramundi. No prawns. No oysters. Only swordfish (steak and duck) which, is not comparable (taste flavor texture) to barramundi.
4. We were rushed by all staff attending our table requesting our food order before our bottle of champagne had arrived and within minutes of being seated… not one or twice but several times leaving us to say ‘please allow us to have a conversation and, a glass of champagne (when it arrives) before we decide on food).
5. Wine waiter wanted to serve white wine before our glass of champagne was finished.
6. Individual plates were removed before majority had finished.
7. Tables are sub-standard. Marked, stained and different heights (three tables together) no cloth. Better tables would be found at the local pub. Just grubby.
This is not a cheap restaurant and at a minimum you would expect a level of organized service and smart decor. Restaurant tired and looking cheap which, is a shame as outlook is superb.
We felt rushed and staff were packing up tables and chairs around us at 2:15pm obviously in a hurry to lock up.
Sign on restaurant door stated fully booked - surely you would know to order sufficient menu listed produce to last the weekend.
Food was enjoyed however not a highlight - only the view is.

Came some years ago and had a fantastic experience. Sadly underwhelmed today. We were rushed from the get go and they were stacking chairs and suffocating us with spray and wipe 90 minutes later and hadn’t served dessert. Food poorly recommended, service was friendly but when you order a $45 main you expect the entree plate to be cleared before the main is served. Food was average for its price and we were all left completely underwhelmed. Lovely location.

Highly overpriced with terrible customer service. After spending nearly $100 for brunch between 3 of us, they will actually frown at you and tell you off for asking for extra spoons and forks. They think they own the scenery while not letting us go inside but stay outside in the cold. What's the point of going there to spend money and ruin the mood? The amount of the food is very small for the price and the taste is below average. Don't be arrogant and rude to customers! Learn to be kind and nice to everyone who come to your kiosk/restaurant!!!

So pleased to see The Estuary restaurant open for business, once again. This is a remarkable, scenic location just north of Hornsby on the Hawkesbury.
We sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch....first class local oysters; tiger prawns to die for; the twice baked gruyere souffle....followed by (mandatory!) Trio of ice cream.
Sue Ellen, Ross and attentive team under Kelly's guidance do a great job.
A 'not to be missed' experience for a visitor to Sydney, or for us 'locals' this is a regular for lunch, or morning coffee at the adjoining kiosk.

I rang the restaurant to make a booking for 6-8 people (1 week in advance). I actually spoke to the owner (Sue-Ellen). She told me that she could not take the booking and that I would have to go online to book and also choose my seat allocation. Seriously...what has happened to customer service? I am a local, I suppose they don't want our business. What a shame, such a beautiful venue.

8 friends on the deck for Sunday breakfast at 9 am.Half the table in hot sun. We were not allowed to move the table to the shade?
Could only order from take away menu even though they have a restaurant menu on their website.2 of us ordered avocado and a poached egg. Egg was half raw.Avocado was puréed and tasted like out of a tube.
After complaining they brought 2 more poached eggs and took away the hardly touched plates. No compensation or apology. Very disappointing.

Woeful in every way.
Overpriced
Stale buns and uncooked meat
Asked for no beetroot got extra beetroot.
Staff totally forgot my wife’s order which meant by the time I was done she was just starting.
I very bad way to end the weekend.

Overpriced dinner menu and poor quality food. No wonder they only open for dinner one night a week.
Small portion sizes at ridiculous prices and left feeling completely ripped off and still hungry despite the $178 bill. What a joke.

Had lunch here on 16/6/21 & what a treat! The front of house lady was friendly & welcoming. Delicious food & such a great outlook over the river,
We had oysters to start…these were the freshest I’ve had!
Barramundi cooked to perfection as were the green veggies. Snapper & leek pie was also a big hit. We finished with a cheese plate which included delicious honeycomb.
When we enquired if this honey was local, the chef came to our table to give us directions as to where we could buy some! Great service 😀

Don’t go there on a rainy day in Covid times . They have to leave all the doors open according to the waitress and we froze to death . Every table complained but obviously it was a health regulation issue . Very windy inside and everyone was complaining and tablecloths flying everywhere . Not sure why they could not have opened the side doors where the wind was not blowing direct . It was not the experience I hoped to celebrate my father 94th birthday . Food was good though . Suggest they invest in throw rugs for paying guests if the doors must stay open like that or consider opening the slide doors instead .

Went here mid week great location parking is listed at 2 hrs out the front. They say it is policed but didn't see anyone although they could be there on the weekends as it would be very busy.
They have two places you can buy food from the cafe out the front which is takeaway but there are tables and chairs provided to enjoy the waterviews from. The menu is quite good and the prices very reasonable.
We chose to inside in the restaurant and the prices for everything are nearly double outside.
The wait staff were very friendly and the meals were served in reasonable time.
The meals although quite good, (the mussels were a little dry) but the prices for the fish, steak and pie I feel were way too expensive. A $15:00 bottle of wine for $44:00 too. You would expect this at Darling harbour in the city overlooking Cockle Bay but not here on the hawkesbury river.
All in all it was an enjoyable lunch with old friends but the prices would turn me off eating inside at the restaurant again.
Would I eat from the takeaway menu outside most definately. but if you are coming for lunch outside I would suggest you get here early to get a table overlooking the river.
