A little shop, blackboard menu that changes depending what is fresh and available from the Fishermans Cooperative which it backs onto. Only about 12 tables in a small partly enclosed area, weekends would recommend booking a table or use take away. Some of the best whiting and Prawns I have ever eaten, bad luck it's not closer as I would eat there more often.

My partner and I had a terrific lunch here. Fresh seafood and lovely fresh salad and chips. We had the battered oysters and flathead, both extremely well cooked very light batter. Staff were competent and friendly, anticipating our needs, and byo as well. Highly recommend this cafe

Stopped by after working in the area for the day. Fresh seafood cooked right there and a good different variety of options to choose from. It’s great to have ‘real’ fish n chips. Small little shop by the water and the food is delicious.

With an abundance of choices for seafood in Brooklyn we were attracted to this place by the menu board stating that 2 pieces of fish were served with each dish. A sunny Sunday afternoon meant that most tables were full so we grabbed the last one. The pricing is what I consider high; 2 flathead and chip and 2 can of softdrink came to over 3/4 of 100. The wait for the meal to be delivered was not long, but not quick. The fish was fresh, the portion of chips was better than expected, and they gave us a couple of lettuce leaves. What was a bit disappointing is that the flathead fillets are small, and what we received was one piece each, which if they were split would make 2 pieces. Marketing is an art form I guess. For the price paid I feel a little bit disappointed and if we go to Brooklyn again I'd probably look elsewhere. Without a water view there's no special attraction - if I had a view I'd overlook issues, but you are stuck between a carpark and a road and you could be anywhere.

The manager’s behaviour here was awful! We were sitting in the courtyard, which is quite pretty, but it was ruined by him loudly swearing while talking to his teenage staff. The fish and chips were perfectly fine (though a bit pricey), but not worth it for such an unpleasant experience.

Outstanding service and food. From the moment we walked in we were greeted (by name!) and sat at a lovely large table under the shade of the pergola and offered jugs of cold water. The cafe was clean and had great ambience on a lovely sunny day. We were dining for an early Father's Day and they made the experience so wonderful and perfect with their service and food. All the staff were wonderful, polite, knowledgeable. The seafood is fresh cooked and the portions are large (even the kids meals were big). The cafe offers in house wines and softdrinks or lets you know of a bottle shop 20m down the road that you can grab beers from. We chose a range of meals. The prawn cutlets (made into a meal with chips, $3 per prawn). These were delicious huge green prawns, freshly battered and cooked. They were probably the best I've ever had (and I have these a lot at seafood restaurants). The calamari was similarly generous, fresh pieces of calamari battered and cooked. Again, this was delicious. Grilled barramundi, cooked perfectly and tasting so fresh and sweet. Thank you Lifeboat Seafoods for making our day so perfect. I highly recommend anything from a casual lunch to a special occasion. I look forward to coming back again and again.

Lovely fresh fish and chips. Nice light batter on the fish. Clean little shop with friendly service. The $22 fish and chips is perfect for two adults to share for lunch.

Normally we only comment on very good or bad. The seafood meals that we had today were outstanding. Perhaps he best in some years. The building and dining area is secluded and quaint with no table service other than delivery of meals. What else is there to say other than go and experience it yourself

This unpretentious little cafe served us the most delicious meal. The secret is that they have a limited menu serving the fresh catch available and team the fish/other seafood with simple but delicious salads and golden crunchy chips. The service was also prompt and friendly. We were there on a Saturday at lunch time when they have live music to add to the laid back ambience as well.

If you like fresh seafood or superbly cooked seafood then this is the place to go. An open cafe in rustic settings providing an excellent atmosphere for small groups or individuals. The staff are always most pleasant and eager to accommodate all requests. The Chefs are superb examples of their profession and all seafoods both fresh and cooked are of excellent quality. A hidden Gem at Brooklyn. Do yourself a favour and visit

Mushiest bit of fish i've had for a long time. We had the grilled barramundi and it came out looking grey on the plate. Had zero texture .. just weird and unpleasant. i thought well at least theres a big pile of mixed salad on the plate but that had an unappetising very sweet dressing on it. The disappointment hit me - i had just paid $30+ for something that (apart from the chips - these were fine) i wasn't going to touch. and i realised that Brooklyns scenic river location had enabled a well below average fish and chip takeaway to fool me and no i suspect many others Will stay well clear in the future. Suggest that others try to avoid a big plate of disappointment.

The staff are super helpful and friendly. They stock a great range of fresh seafood, much of it locally caught. Take out food is quick or sit down in the lovely chilled atmosphere. A great place on a Saturday afternoon to have quality fish and chips, sip a glass of cold white wine and listen to the live music.

We booked here thinking water views and al la carte menu but it is pretty much a local fish n chips with seating. That is not a bad thing. The food was absolutely beautiful. Fish was extremely fresh with a batter so delicate that few restaurants could duplicate. BYO with table service made it a fabulous location to catch up with friends for lunch. Plus it’s next door to the train station and the prices are extremely affordable.

We were excited after reading great reviews and after Covid lockdowns slowly lifting being able to get out of Sydney for a nice lunch. And that was where it ended. The fish was tasteless, the calamari batter was soggy and the chips bland. Had to ask for extra salt for flavour (I’m not usually one to add salt to anything) and the tartare sauce definitely saved it . Nice location with a musician playing, but that was it. Maybe being a tricky time with social distancing etc they weren’t up to their usual standards, but I won’t be going back to try again.

We've been enjoying dining at Lifeboat Seafood for years, as a couple, and it's become our go-to for family celebrations. Always the freshest seafood beautifully prepared. Nice undercover outdoor seating and relaxed ambience. Friendly helpful staff. Great location... we can drive or catch a train. There is dog friendly seating.
