Came across this interesting cafe late lunchtime looking for a light lunch, were not disappointed. Tasty anchovy Cesar salad and fresh brew earl grey tea hit the spot perfectly for us. Nice owners and friendly staff, near the beach but not over priced. Would recommend.

We stayed near Middleton Beach and ended up having brunch at Bay Merchants twice. We really enjoyed it both times. Some of the best coffee I've had in ages and the food is just really nice. All fresh made with local fresh produce. Also there is nice alfresco seating for when the weather is good. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely go back next time we're in the area.

My wife and I went to the cafe for a little lunch and a coffee. Burger was excellent but the coffee was the feature. The young girl who was doing the baristas job was excellent and her service was very good. What I did like about her was the way she made good conversation with us being from being out for town. Good job đź‘Ť

Terrible service - the owner has absolutely no charisma, far from welcoming and cant even manage a smile. Do you have hospo experience at all??? Got my order wrong. Charged me for an extra coffee that I didnt order. AFTER charging me - informed me off a 25min wait. Got my name wrong - so waited extra because no one knew where they were going. The staff are just as friendly as the owner and had no urgency what so ever.
Witnessed the owner being awfully rude to an elderly woman struggling to order also.
Wouldn’t recommended at all! Spent your money else where…somewhere itll be appreciated.

Walking distance from our studio apartment, this was a lovely little place for breakfast. Appeared to be very popular with locals, lots of small round tables with 3 chairs each.....wouldn't have said they were practising social distancing but not a problem for us. Hubby had a brekky burger and I had the breakfast burrito. Both were delicious. Quirky little environment - lots to look at while waiting for your food. Would definitely go again.

Stumbled across this fabulous cafe near Middleton Beach. Experienced excellent coffee, good selection of fresh cakes, and prompt, friendly service. Very busy. Highly recommend.

The food is amazing. The avo on toast almost looks too good to eat and the porridge was a sight to behold, the most elaborate we’ve seen.

Great breakfast offerings, especially as you can ask for half serves of almost everything (NOT advertised on the menu). But they are very hard to contact as they no longer have a phone number, their website no longer exists, and, based on my experience, they take 3-4 days to respond to a Facebook message (some 3 days after we wanted the booking for!). Fortunately, we were staying nearby so we walked down to make our booking for 4 people for the next morning (which is when they told us about the half serves). But seriously, with very limited ways to contact them they must be losing business as they are out of the way along a side road near Middleton Beach. Relying on locals is fine, but tourists are the ones with the time and money to spend having long leisurely meals and coffees -- and if you didn't drive past their store front and notice it, you'd have no idea they were there.
Back to breakfast... I was there with 3 others, and we all had something different. One had the big breakfast and it was HUGE - he couldn't finish it all. Another had the porridge and it was also big and she couldn't finish it. My companion had the fruit toast, which she said was lovely and she finished it. I had the eggs benedict (half serve) and it was the perfect size for me. It was delicious, and, yes I finished it.
This is a small café/restaurant, with quite a number of tables on the footpath as the inside space is quite limited. The tables themselves are small and round, so they aren't really suitable for full plates of food... much more suited to coffee and cake. The chairs are hard.
But the food was good!

Just went for coffee and cake on Anzac Day. Coffee very average. Came out at different times. Some of the staff need mentoring. May be due to being a public holiday perhaps

Enjoyed coffee and cake here, staff were welcoming and friendly. Fast service but difficult to enter the store with my mum on a walker, there were steps to navigate and to cold to sit outside.

Great food and coffee. Tried a number of items on the menu during our stay. They were all good. Almost need a second coffee machine to cope with demand at peak times.

Went a couple of times and had an excellent coffee and even though they weren’t busy, I found the coffee took too long to make. I think there are new owners so may still need to settle in.
