The Wantirna Hill Club has been part of the landscape of Wantirna for many years and is the home of the Vermont Football Club. Situated on central Boronia Rd, close to Eastlink, the Wantirna Hill Club offers locals a variety of entertainment options. It has all of the facilities that you would expect including a bistro, a brand new kids playroom with a huge jumping castle, TAB & Tavern bar, gaming room and special offers that caters to all tastes and budgets. At the Wantirna Hill Club you will enjoy excellent bistro dining and will be looked after by our friendly staff. There are Members nights, Wednesday Bingo with cash prizes, and our very popular themed bistro nights on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. The venue has had a major upgrade of the interior decor which follows on from the extensive work to provide an external open air deck, enlarged lounge facilities, a protected outside smokers lounge, a bistro extension and a brand new kids playroom with jumping castle. We have an energetic and friendly staff, who are keen to show you around the new look bistro and bar. Can be a bit hit and miss

After a poor experience two weeks ago, and posting a scathing review then, we went back today to give the place a chance for redemption. Here is what I wrote two weeks ago (and deleted today so I could post an updated review): If you like your chips overcooked to the point they are crisp inside and out, AND you like parmigiana that has been placed on a cold plate and left warming so that it creates condensation and makes the bottom of the parma wet and soggy - this is the place for you! Not the first time we have been served soggy parma at this venue. They were not busy, so they obviously just don't care or have pride in their product. For me, the mouthfeel and the crispiness are the pleasure of a parma. Wet and soggy does not do the trick. The vegetables served were good. Based on today's visit, there was some redemption. We ordered the same parmigiana dishes today and requested they NOT be served soggy. They were not. They were excellent. The venue was very busy today (in comparison with our last visit). Perhaps orders were being turned around quickly and were not given the chance to sit around and get soggy. That gives them my benefit of the doubt for another time.

Have had several good meals here in the last few months and the quality has definitely picked up from where it was after covid. Have been using this place for more than 20 years and it has always been a bit up and down. Currently it is up - prices up, quality up, service up and value for money up.

Had a great lunch with friends including 3 kids. They had a blast. Food was good and staff fabulous. Back again in 6 weeks for another catch up

This was our #1 but since Covid there seems to be a change of staff and certainly a change of menu...and it's gone downhill. One of our out-of-covid visit the wrong dinners were served and by the time they corrected the problem all of us had eaten at different times. Last night will be the last time for a while: The order took forever because the staff member couldnt work the consol and charged $10 more, it took four pours to get a pot, 4 Pines Light, and he mixed it with a lager... and was charged for a scooner, the mains were good but I had to ask twice for my dessert, second time was wrong. There are other restaurants that also need our patronage.

Chrismas Day Lunch Disaster 25/12/2023

Christmas Day, food was fine. BUT the service was terrible. We waited first for the entree and only after several requests to be served did it arrive at different times for family members. We waited for lunch to be served and again only after several requests to be served did it arrive at different times for family members. Same for desert and only after 3 demands for service did it arrive for some, others including myself gave up waiting and just left without my Christmas pudding as by this time it was after 3:30 pm and we had to leave. Definitely won't be back next Christmas.

I went to the Wantirna Hill club for a long awaited lunch with friends. The food was dry and horrible Chicken Schnitzel and the vegetables were hard and unappetizing. It used to be a good place to eat. The staff are rude and unhappy. I won't be going back ever.

A great find!

We stumbled across this place by accident last week (May 2022) and tried lunch there. The food and service were great, and the value, especially the seniors menu, outstanding. We had the roast pork and the calamari, and both dishes were tasty, well cooked, and a pleasure to eat. Ambience wise, it's wood grain Formica tables, no tablecloths, and order at the bar. So, half a step up from an RSL or a pub lunch insofar as the venue is concerned, but, as stated, the food was far superior to an RSL or pub. The staff were helpful and friendly and we'll definitely be back.

Disappointing!

Dined here many times with family and friends and thought the food to be good and value for money, even the seniors meal. We have not been for several months and this time went on New Year’s Eve 31/12/23 and ordered seniors meal. Very disappointed to see that the price have gone up considerably and to top it off the portion size have almost halved ! Usually I’m a small eater but wasn’t even full after the meal! Not sure if we’ll be going back

Disappointed

Staff were very slow and not friendly. Bar staff took for ever.Food was stone cold. Had chicken scalopine which looked like it had been thrown on the plate. Atlantic summer was over cooked. Very loud music playing so we hurried our meal to get out.

Excellent mixed grill

Went to restaurant to use a 2 for 1 Entertainment Book voucher. I chose the Mixed Grill which was exceptional in both taste and portion size. So much food I was able to take enough home for dinner the next night. My husband chose the Eye FILLET steak. Same price for a small portion. He was disappointed. So glad we had the 2 for 1 deal.

Birthday Function in the Back Deck

Held my birthday celebration at WHC. It was a fantastic night. Venue, food and service was excellent. All 30 of us had a great time. I'd definitely hold another function there. Many thanks to Adam and his team.

Soggy parma

3 chicken parmas ordered, they arrived suspiciously quickly with 1 salad missing. Chips and salad were average, all parmas were a soggy mess, no crispiness at all and 1 tiny bit of dried out ham on top of the sauce and cheese. Only ate half of it because I was very hungry. It wasn't overly busy.

Today 2 couples, our order was 2 Roast Pork with roast vegetables, Chicken Scallopini, Fish and Chips. each cost between 25.00 to 29.00 You have to pay extra for salad with the Fish and Chips. The 2 Fish pieces were a similar shape to Birds Eye crumbed fillets from freezer isle at a supermarket and the chips were very ordinary Really not good value. The chicken dish had a mound of chicken slices, a sauce that was bordering on gluggy, laying on a small quantity of coldish mash and 3 bits of brocolini. Roast Pork had significant fat on each slice, not enough gravy and a weird tasting apple sauce. The so called crackle was a very large strip of pork skin which bent very easily, no snap and no crackle. Could not be cut or broken. Inedible. THE ROAST VEGETABLES WERE REALLY REALLY GOOD. But for what was paid for 4 people it was hugely disappointing. Wont be returning for a while. There are many better options

Nice place for a family lunch or dinner

The Fox/Venten family recently had a Sunday lunch there. It was full, with large family gatherings and birthday parties. Food was not too bad and reasonable priced.
