I took a client here when we were both too busy to cook our breakfast so we met over breakfast. Can I say this was one of the most delicious breakfasts I have ever had and it kept me going until dinner at night when I could have still not had anything to eat. The different tastes, the placement on the plate, the wonderful service who tried to help me do everything I could to preserve my dietary need of gluten-free. Nothing was too much trouble. I had the Pond Big Breakfast. It was so delicious and I thank the chef and all the team for making our visit so spectacular in taste, service and attention. (I even purchased a take-away lunch to have at home).
Today, I am taking my husband back there so he can savour the same great experience. Well done "The Pond".

A lovely cafe on the esplanade with a view of the foreshore, you could not get a much better location. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The menu was not extensive, but provided what we were looking for. Both the coffee and the meals arrived quickly and were absolutely delicious.

This is a popular indoor/outdoor restaurant on the beachfront in the seaside resort of Torquay. We went there for breakfast – along with half of the visitors to the town. Staff coped and service was maintained. Their muesli was good and came with a fruit compote. The poached eggs were standard stuff but the avocado on the side made the dish that much better. There is nothing startling or innovative on the menu, and the coffees are made competently. Well rated by travellers and rightly so.

There are about 10 (all day) meal options which is breakfast & lunch however only 2 or 3 could really be considered ‘proper’ lunch (this amount also includes toast). Asked to swap an ingredient which I can’t eat for avocado or tomato instead (or something else) - tomato not possible but avocado was $4 extra. Juice overpriced — although it was not a plain orange juice, it either wasn’t fresh or someone needs to learn how to make juices that compliment most of the ingredients - it just tasted like orange.
Waitress just did her job, not customer service that would be enough to get someone back despite the food.

We first arrived here and was greeted by a really friendly blonde girl and felt welcome straight away. But that all changed real quick!! My partner and I sat and was asked by another waitress (with dark hair) if we wanted drinks (without a smile or nice gesture). As we just sat down and hadn’t even looked at menu yet. I said we need 5 minutes, but within that 5 minutes she came up to us another 2 times asking. I sent her away and said a few more minutes. My partner went to car to get something and she approached me again while he had gone and it had been like only 2-3 minutes since the last time so I said once my partner is back we will discuss and let you no. No kidding my partner sat down and within 5 seconds she again asked if we wanted drinks. I’ve never been rushed like that in a cafe ever. But anyway we ordered our food and drinks and I asked what cheese they have as I love cheese on my toast with my poached eggs and she said feta only so I’m like that’s ok I’ll leave the cheese. After sitting there for a few minutes I actually remember I seen ham and cheese toasties on the menu and thought to my self they wouldn’t use feta so I went in and asked a lovely guy what cheese they use on the toasties and he said cheddar. I’m like ohhhh the waitress said you only have feta so do you mind if I can get cheddar cheese added to my toast and he said yes but the waitress came over to hear what I was saying and she’s like ohhhh yeah we have cheddar. I said it’s ok I’ll get that added to my toast and then another guy came over and said we don’t do that sorry.. shocked I said why not I’ll pay extra I love cheese on my toast with eggs and his like no we don’t do that it’s only for the toasties! I said that’s ok I don’t want it then you can cancel my order and then I thought about it and said actually cancel the whole thing we ain’t staying.
If that was my cafe and I heard any one talk to customers like that and not look after customers and lose customers over cheese I’d fire them on the spot.
Thanks to the blonde girl though for making us feel welcome and the nice guy who first said yes and was very friendly :-)

Disappointed with the meal that was very plain for the price.
My chai latte was so strong it almost burnt and I could not drink it. I explained this to the waitress taking our order and she did not even acknowledge I had spoken , no response at all.
Accidents happen but this was just rudeness and poor customer service .
My friends Cappuccino was also cold . Won’t be returning .

Pretty busy being a Sunday lunch and first time we've been here. Got a table fairly quickly and had a bit of a wait for orders to be taken, and meals to arrive. Not an excessive wait, but still a little annoying. Coffees came first and we're quite nice but just warm (our pet hate).
Meals were basic but quite yummy - a bit surprised that we couldn't get chips with our lunch as it would have added to the meal, and would have given added value.
Started to rain so asked about moving to an undercover table that was unoccupied and this seemed like a huge request, but eventually approved !!
Overall nice food and good location but may not rush back.

Over twelve months since our last visit and it was pleasant to see the same great food and service available.
Breakfast of poached eggs on seed and sprout toast with kasundi with a large field mushroom that was full of flavour.
The Bircher Muesli with honey,lemon yoghurt and berry compote was fresh and tasty.
We won’t leave it as long before we return!

After all the reviews, was really looking forward to a nice meal. Was really disappointed with the pumpkin, quinoa, kale dish. So bland. No dressing, I am not a great cook, but could have whipped it up better than that. No flavour at all. Basically just boiled quinoa piled on roast pumpkin, bit of hommus on the hottom. Literally. 3 or 4 pieces of kale... nor roasted, dressed, just placed in the plate??? The pulled beef Sandwich was ok, just really quite oily. Coffee and service were great. Will not be back for a meal.

Amazing coffee (seven seeds), always perfectly brewed and presented, plenty of great seating options indoors and out, good spot for working on your laptop. Service is always spot on. Haven't tried the food yet, but it looks great!

⭐️The beef brisket sandwich is superb!! Juicy meat and the bread is nicely toasted, with fresh vegetables in it. 10/10 recommend!
⭐️Also ordered a pulled pork burger, not bad, quite juicy! 8/10!
⭐️Breaky burger - perfect condition for the egg! 8/10!
However, flat white was not as nice as expected, especially after drinking Higher Ground’s flat white yesterday. Will give it a 6/10.

Visiting overnight we decided to stop in here for breakfast as it had a nice beachfront view from the tables outside. Overall, the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Our only downfall was probably the prices in comparison to other local eateries. There seemed to be a couple of other nearby cafes struggling to compete with the volume of customers who flock to the pond, so be sure to look at everything around!

Whistle stop visit to Torquay looked very nice. We ordered Smashed avocado, & halloumi sourdough toast & chicken salad flatbread . Both delicious .
Coffee & Hot Chocolate spot on as well.Staff very friendly.

I love the coffee and breakfasts here and was not disappointed. We again sat outside in the beautiful sun. A quick turnover of tables meant we didn't wait long. The menu has changed, but food was delicious as ever. Vietnamese bowl with mushrooms tasty with a little kick of chilli. Smoked salmon tartine sophisticated and yummy. Will definitely visit again.

I had brunch here with friends. Good service. Not a huge amount on the menu to choose from but all the food I saw coming out looked really good. I got the Full Pond which was really good. Photo attached
