Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don’t be drawn to the places on the front. This one serves great coffee and food. The toasties were amazing and packed with cheese, ham and tomato. Highly recommended

Campos coffee beans, freshly roasted as evidenced by micro bubbles in a well presented cup of coffee at perfect temperature

Only a coffee and snack but greeted quickly and warmly. I’m not super fussy about types of coffee but it was delicious.

Enjoyed a beautiful coffee late in the afternoon as most other cafes shut earlier due to the COVID lockdown. Staff were fantastic. Unfortunately I had to witness a customer verbally abuse the staff and the owner (holding a baby) because he was too impatient to...wait for other customers to exit the cafe. These cafes / small businesses are doing a great job to keep going during lockdown and it’s so sad to see customers who are anti COVID and anti-social distancing abuse staff / small businesses for doing the right thing. This cafe has my support. Will be back again for great coffee.More

Was waiting patiently to get into the store to order some coffees, "COVID Restrictions" Heard someone's name called and let them go by... waited a little longer while that person not only picked up their coffee, but decided to browse and order some additional products...... with minutes passing. Finally he was done and I entered the store and the young lady staff member called another lucky persons name, she asked me to wait while the other person picked up their coffee. I huffed in disappointment, as I had been waiting some time, but went back outside.. only to be berated by the next person in the queue behind me. He pointed out that they had a one person in the shop policy and started to have a go at me. I tried to tell him that I understood the reason, but he wanted to make a point.... when I kept on talking trying to explain my case, he confessed to be the owner and that I should just get on with it. I did and went onto order my coffee, all the while he was still engaging me. I ordered and was going back outside and we kept on going, I tried to explain, him trying to prove a point. He finally walked in behind the counter and proceeded to cancel my order and tell the staff to give me back my money. He even tried to accuse me of being rude to the staff and I challenged him in front of them as this was just not true. I live local and was totally disappointed in this "owner". I know times are tough and the "only" reason I am buying a coffee at 3pm in the afternoon is to support cafes like Larder. People that know me, understand this to be true. I made it a rule to eat out as much as possible through Covid, so as to support the local Torquay businesses. I hope that this is just a once off for this business .... but apparently my money is no longer good there and so will never be able to find out. Fortunately if you are coming to Torquay there are many good cafes.... in my eyes this use to be one of them, sad to say not anymore.More

We arrived here at around 2pm for a light lunch. The service was fast and friendly. The hot chocolate was delicious and almond croissant very nice. The highlight was the freshly baked local bread (Phillipa’s I think) tasty Without being too hard. We purchased a...loaf and it’s still great a couple of days later. Would highly recommend this little gemMore

Having driven 1.5hrs from Melbourne to Torquay to start the GOR drive, this is a wonderful place to stretch your legs, have a good robust coffee and tuck into some yummy food. Lovely cosy quaint shop, friendly staff, everyone seemingly to know each other, can’t...think of a better place to stop/start.More

Lovely staff, delicious food, great coffee. Came here three days in a row. A great range of pre made salads, sandwiches, cakes and pastries. I loved the pumpkin salad and the carrot cake looked amazing! There isn’t a great deal of seating inside.

We visited this little cafe for a quick snack and decided to return as their snacks, cakes and coffee were so good. The staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The cafe also stocks a selection of quality jams, nuts, coffee and spices.
