The hotel has undergone a recent complete makeover with more to come. The traditional country meals and portions are dead. The old POW steak Sanga replaced by a poor and far more expensive steak sandwiche encased with crunchy and tasteless sour dough bread. The new Gnochi is a something that wants for something .... err? I know, salt. The service from staff varies depending upon who they know and don't know. Recently watching a long time regular being told to leave ... perhaps because he didn't fitthe new "Prince" model.
The renovated pub looks great, but looks are only skin deep. If you can forgive not being able to buy a Carlton Draught on tap in a Victorian hotel, and the new management effectively telling old regulars to get used to it ... Pffft! Then good luck to them.

We have now dined twice at the Hotel. Consistently good food both times. We enjoyed dining in the front area as out the back can get a bit noisy. You are greeted on entry checking you are Covid safe then taken to your table and told about the specials and recommendations, very efficient. To order your food you order from the Restaurant bar and drinks you have to go to the main bar which can be crowded, and social distancing lacking. We enjoyed our visit both times.

Great environment and renovated vibes made it a warm and welcoming environment for a quick stop while travelling.
The food were great portion sizes but I disagree with TripAdvisor’s “vegetarian friendly” tag…minimal vegetarian options were available.
The service was quite slow but our visit was just after major flooding- so they may have been short staffed. The staff who did serve us were friendly and efficient and found us a seat quickly despite being a busy night.
Overall, a really nice place for a meal or drinks with friends.

My Wife and I visited the Prince a few weeks ago and was very surprised with the Renovation the place looks great inside, Outside is a another story very dated and doesn't compare to inside.
The food we ordered was Chic Parma and a Gnocchi, the Parma was alright expensive but alright the Gnocchi was very heavy and too much salt, so much so the meal wasn't finished.
The drink service was poor with multiple staff coming past our table it took nearly 30min to get another round of drinks.
The place has so much potential but the food and service is a major downfall and word is getting around.

Walked in waited at the bar for 20 minutes staff didn’t acknowledge us. waited literally 20 min. We figured some locals first kind of arrangement but after they poured the locals and replaced one of the drinks dropped by one of the paîtrons for free they just ignored us. We left and went to the royal which was so much better without being served. Don’t normally write reviews but if I was the owner of that pub I would seriously look at the staff cause they are going to put you out of business. This was 2 girls and a guy on Saturday just passed

Super over priced! Everyone’s meals were cold, but the salads were warm from sitting under the light, we waited over an hour and a half for our food to start coming out and then while we were waiting a branch from the tree fell and nearly hit a young family at a near by table who had young kids and babies. A friend and I ordered the exact same meal and got 2 completely different dishes- ingredients were missing etc.
After we complained to the manager about the poor service and meals after waiting over an hour and a half we were issued a full refund for the meals and left.
Not impressed at all. Wouldn’t recommend

My husband used to drink here years ago when he was in the army so it was a nostalgic visit for him. Staff were very good. The steaks we had were absolutely beautiful, cooked to our liking with garlic butter. Hubby even got to talk to a couple of the locals and found out about some of the places he had been too. All in all a great spot. Good food, place was packed with diners the night we were there.

Tucked away on a quiet street, this local pub is a hidden gem that captures the essence of community and camaraderie. The cozy, dimly lit interior provides a welcoming atmosphere, inviting patrons to unwind and connect. The diverse selection of craft beers on tap and a curated menu of hearty pub fare cater to varied tastes. What sets this pub apart is the genuine friendliness of the staff, who make you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. From the lively banter at the bar to the comforting aromas wafting from the kitchen, every element contributes to a genuine, laid-back pub experience. It's not just a place to grab a drink; it's a home away from home where locals gather to share stories and laughter. This pub embodies the spirit of community and good times, making it a must-visit for those seeking an authentic and delightful local pub experience.

Just had dinner at The Prince in Seymour. We ordered the steak, usually good in a country town. They were porterhouse steaks. $42 each served with ‘duck fat potatoes and veg’. The steaks were full of fat & gristle and very inconsistently cooked. The ‘duck fat potatoes’ were inedible - slimy boiled chats that had been reheated, no crunch or any hint of duck fat. The ‘veg’ were broccoli only. No steak knives.
We had beer & wine with our dinner. The white wine was warm and the red had been in an open bottle for days shown by a nose like port.
I’d avoid this place were I to visit Seymour again.

Had a fantastic lunch at the Prince. We had a large group of various ages, including mum in a wheelchair. The manager went out of her way to assist us and gave us a choice if we wished to change to the outdoor area. The renovation is lovely and very comfortable. Food was very good and service from the young waitress was awesome dealing with our group. Would definitely recommend.

Visited the 'POW' today for lunch. Pleasantly surprised. Impressed with the light, bright and clean renovations. A relaxing lunch with friends in a comfortable environment. Service was friendly and pretty efficient. Drinks were good and the food was really good today. Flathead and chips were rated excellent and the senior's bangers and mash were plentiful and delicious. Food prices were good. We enjoyed meeting the newest publican, Sarah, who has only been at the helm of The Prince for 2 days. We will certainly be going back to dine at the POW in the near future. Well worth a visit in 2021.

My wife and I had lunch here during a stopover on our way to Nagambie for a holiday. She had fish and chips while I had a T-Bone steak with vegetables.
The food was good. Service was good. Prices are a bit high for a pub lunch, although inflation is happening everywhere now.

My wife and I arrived to a near empty pub, ordered at 6pm, before virtually anyone else. Almost an hour later still no food and others who arrived after us were happily eating away. Three attempts to get an answer out of the waiters, only to be told “maybe another 15 to20 mins”. Needless to say we demanded a refund and left. And won’t be coming back. Very disappointing. Now eating KFC because we are so hungry!

This was a great experience. Staff were attentive. Beer was cold with a wide selection of Tooborac beers on tap. Food was first class and delicious. A great experience from the greet and seat to the end of the night. Great family atmosphere.

After our family's Christmas function not far away we walked down to the Prince of Wales early afternoon. It is the bar front for the Shearasun brewery. Due to the floods having filled the cellars the taps were off line but there was canned beers to be had which were good. Also while away a few hours in the shade of the outdoor beer garden as a band tuned up for the evening. Had both snacks and meals in two stages. The brisket was too dry but the calamari and others were good. Good atmosphere. Would return here, a fun afternoon.
