Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a good option for fish and chips but is a little pricey for what’s on offer. The food was prepared fairly well and was tasty but it was also quite oily (even for fish and chips). Also flake at $10 per piece is...getting expensive when you can go to a restaurant or cafe within 50m and get the same on offer with a table for $18. Ok though.More

We visited this place after realizing nothing was open after 8pm on a Sunday night the couple were very welcoming and very kind they were about to close but still went out of their way to prepare us some really good veggie burgers some calamari...nuggets for the kids considering they had switched off their fryers and were just a hour to wind up and leave. Thank you the chips were really hot and good next time we will definitely fry the fish !More

I’m not sure how it’s possible to have a fish shop right at the ocean and be so bad Firstly the fish.... Dry fish and oily batter combined giving my mouth anxiety and for $9 for a half a piece of fish. I just can’t...fathom how they think it’s a fair deal. Now the chips..... looked more like kfc style chips not the usual big chunky fish shop chips I’ve come to love. Feel free to dine here but I guess when you’re buying fish n chips from a petrol station, its a fair idea of what you’re in for.More

Always grabbed fish and chips from this place when visiting Port Campbell. You’d think that being near the beach the fish would be the best right? Well that’s not the case. We ordered what we have in the past and the serving size now is...a total piss take. I’d get more chips at a Maccas drive through and they wouldn’t taste like old oil either plus $7 for a bottle of fizzy? This is what happens when a business gets sold to people who aren’t serving the community.More

My partner and I had fish and Chips from Fying Nemo two nights and both times it was beautifully cooked, lovely flake and flathead, crunchy outside and the fish was delicate and fresh. It was not oily and was delicious. Scallops and potato cakes were...also great. I recommend Frying Nemos for very good fish and chips.More

We bought chips, potato cakes and fried dim sims. They were cold, they tasted like they had been sitting in the warmer for hours and for the price you don't get much. I come to Port Campbell every summer and l will not be getting...chips at this place ever again unless it is sold to someone who actually knows how to cook fish and chips. We had been told by others who were camping with us that there chips were awful but as this is the only place to buy fish and chips at night we decided to take the chance. Big mistake.More

We tried this place for fish and chips. We paid $18 for 2 x grilled flake - it was disgusting...hard, smelly and inedible. Luckily the calamari and chips were good.

We came here for fish and chips after discovering it is the ONLY place you can buy food in Port Campbell at 5pm (a sad result of COVID we assume). We ordered fish, chips and a bunch of fried snacks - all of which were...really fresh and tasty, and very good value ($3 of chips was more than enough for two!) it was lovely to eat down on the beach.More

Years ago we passed through Port Campbell and had the best fish and chips we had ever had. When we started camping here we found it again and it was just as delicious, the chips just as crispy. What followed was a vast decline in...quality over the last 4 years, each time we come camping we find that it has become worse than the time before. This year has been the final straw. The chips, once golden and crispy without us even asking have become soggy even after asking for extra crispy. The flake, once delicious has become the greasiest piece of cardboard we have ever eaten, covered in raw batter. Among the mediocre scallops was one that could serve as a rubber bullet. All this comes after a wait of at least 45 minutes. Once upon a time the quality was well worth the wait, now it is confusing how it takes so long to take the flake out of the freezer and get the soggy chips out of the fryer. There is also their ridiculous hours of operation, only staying open until 7 on the holidays, not catering to the travelers or late diners. On top of all that the 2 ladies who have been there every year are generally quite unpleasant and will often ignore you standing at the counter ready to order unless you grab their attention. What was once the best fish and chips we had ever eaten and something we looked forward to every time we came to Port Campbell is now a soggy mess that we will not be returning to again.More
