Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Processed fish! Very disappointing to open up your fish and chips to find a processed bit of flake. It’s like calling a hamburger made out of minced meat an eye fillet. They are still charging real fish prices as well. As semi locals very sad...to see they have gone down this path.More

If you like frozen fish you will love this place. Otherwise give it a miss. The flathead looked like it was pre batted like you buy at the supermarket….

Amazing grilled fish and separate fryer for gluten free chips. Quick service, fresh delicious food. Also offers a larger range of gluten free ice cream (as a bit too cold for us to consider trying today). Only one flavour had gluten (it’s always the cookies...and cream :-) ).More

$53 for dry chips and fish (which was supposed to be flake but wasn’t) The absolute worst fish and chips I’ve had in years.

My partner and I ordered Fish & Chips here at lunch-time on one of the busiest days of the year in Port Campbell! I waited in the line-up to place my order for what felt like an eternity - but it probably wasn't too long,...it is just that I have issues with standing for long periods of time and so does my partner. When I got to the front of the line to order, I was politely told that they had run out of hot potato chips to cook. I had to stifle a laugh - I had never been to a Fish & Chip Shop before that had run out of chips. I was told that the alternatives was either potato cakes or sweet potato chips. I chose the sweet potato chips, even though my partner isn't a fan of sweet potatoes. He will eat them, but they aren't his favourites. Our order was super quick to come! I was surprised! I think I waited in line to order! But, the big surprise was the sweet potato chips! OMGood Golly! Wow! They were so good! I'd almost drive all the way from Ballarat to have them - about a two hour drive! As for the staff at this establishment - they are super nice and very friendly! (Even though they were under the pump they were super polite and there was nothing that was too much trouble! Definitely the type of people that should be in a customer service role!) Oh, and I had battered fish, and my partner had grilled fish. Both were yum! There is plenty of seating! We sat outside under an umbrella - which was awesome bc we were shaded from the sun!More

We stopped here for lunch and the food was okay, the staff are welcoming and friendly to deal with. There is plenty of outside seating available.

We get fish and chips here every time we visit Port Campbell. Unfortunately, this time they were only open for lunch during peak season. The Blue Grenadier we had was great the selection of fish also was limited this time around.

We are locals and normally avoid this take away; but as our normal haunt- Nemos- was closed we gave it a go. New managers, very tidy inside and friendly staff was a good start. Orders flake and normal fish n chips and I have to...say- this place is much better with the new managers! Great food and love the box it came in- very practical! Only thing now is - we ordered in a quiet time, how will they cope in the busy periodMore

The location is great.. unfortunately that seems to have allowed them to get away with really subpar food. Flake was like a battered piece of rubber, dim sims entirely tasteless (how can you even go wrong with a dim sim?) and seafood stick disgusting -...like gluey, chewy sawdust. Chips were okay. This place used to be decent and a nice place to stop on the Great Ocean Road... will no longer. Unforgivably bad.More

Worst fish and chips ever, You would think being by the sea would get you fresh seafood? Well sorry to say not here, fish was frozen and tasted like leather, scallops were the fake ones and all were dripping in oil, the chips were barely...cooked, absolutely disgusting and disappointing. The seagulls didn’t even want them, now that’s saying something.More

Can honestly say this was the worst Fish and Chips I’ve had. The fish fell apart asked for Whiting and got Blue Grenadier and the chips were greasy and like the dregs. Astounds me when on the coast, definitely expected better

This business has prime location but never open. We decided to get fish and chips on lawn. Sat outside shop till 12:10 till it opened. Surely in this location 11 would be good in summer. Food was average, bugger all chips for $6. Walked past...at 7:15 on Saturday night and closed. Beautiful night , beach was packed. Seems like a lazy businessMore

Got a burger with the lot for lunch here the other day, and thought it was pretty good. I don't normally write reviews for establishments like this, but after reading all the negative reviews for fish and chips I thought some balance was required.
