Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped in Port Campbell for lunch. We decided to try this place although when we arrived it was empty. It was reasonably priced, and had a good varied lunch menu. The man serving was very friendly, although it became busy so he had his work cut out. The food was nice, especially the pork sliders. The fish chowder was not as good, as it was more of a blended fish soup rather than a chowder, and you only get a tiny bit of toast with it. But well worth a try.

They served a Chinese New Year menu which looks nothing like what Chinese will have for lunar new year. That said, the other choice was Fish and Chips. We ordered from the Chinese New Year menu: fried rice, steamed broccoli (it should correctly named as kale or kailan) and salt pepper chicken ribs. Decent quality to be honest if you crave for Chinese food and friendly service.

We had 2 nights in port Campbell so had breakfast here one morning, I had the poached eggs on muffins with bacon and home made hollandaise sauce and my husband had fried eggs, bacon, tomato and chipolate sausages. We both enjoyed our brekkys with good coffee. We had dinner there also that night, shared a plate of calamari on rocket and then I had a lovely chicken curry with Dahl, veggies curry and some naan. We shared a great Pinot Grigio from the Mornington peninsula. Both times we sat outside. Certainly recommend for breakfast or dinner. Service excellent.

We had pre-booked and pre-paid for breakfast here through Auswalks after walking the Great Ocean Walk. Waves provided us with an excellent breakfast - highlights were freshly squeezed orange juice and perfectly cooked eggs with a range of top quality side dishes. Coffee was great too. Everything was prepared quickly and with no fuss. Overall a truly great breakfast.

We had fish which looked like it came straight out of a birds eye packet and the high prices for bad quality. Next time.....fish at the fish and chips shop for beter quality and half the price.

Waves is our local choice for lunch to ring in the Crayfish Season and has been for some years. **Diners be aware at least 24 hours notice is necessary if cray is your choice. ** A warm welcome always awaits us followed by a sumptuous feast beautifully presented. As well, the accompanying tools necessary for dealing with cray - lemon infused finger bowls, claw crunchers, flesh getter-outerers and copious napkins. Service is considerate without being intrusive. Good wine selection. The cray/s arrived with attractive salad, (really tasty) chips, and a trio of (really tasty) dips. I love the Asian one. Vinegar also available if requested. We could almost taste the seawater the crays were so fresh. Waves pannacotta is the benchmark dessert for me taken from a good varied selection. The others had rhubarb crumble and choc hazelnut roulade respectively. All demolished. Thank you so much Waves. Always a great dining experience but especially so considering the 2020 hurdles to be managed. Hopefully we’ll be back soon. Kaye and friends. 😋😋😋

Delicious food. Good value for money. Nice location and lovely staff. Homemade baked beans were great. We visited for breakfast and had a variety of dishes; eggs benedict, full breakfasts, scrambled eggs, all of which were great.

Went for lunch 19th October. Asked if the fish dish could be grilled, not deep fried. Was told they could only grill a barramundi fillet. (This indicates the battered fish is bought already battered and frozen!) We said that would be alright. The fillet was on the small side, but well cooked. AND so too was the price!! By replacing the battered fish for grilled, we were charged an extra $12 for the privilege - which was not mentioned when we ordered. They may have laughed all the way to the bank, but it's the last time Waves will make an exorbitant profit from us! Left a bad taste indeed.

Have been there three days in a row and were impressed. Very friendly service, great Sav Blanc and small but tasty menu. Seafood/fish is really a great choice as are the desserts. The interior is bistro style and might become a little noisy when full. On our visits however not an issue at all.

We have just had 11 day working holiday. We had 4 meals at Waves. First 4 were fantastic so on our last morning we decided to have breakfast there. Greeting was fine by an older lady, we sat down . After 15 minutes of just sitting there watching her talk to her friend for 5 minutes, fluff around doing nothing. Only 2 other table's in use. Took her 5 minutes to take a family order another 5 to put it in machine. I have never walked out of a restaurant but while she took order to kitchen we got up and went to 12 Rocks . It's obviously a family run business but I'm sorry guys Mum and Dad are past it. The other meals were fantastic service and food. We had a young waitress who couldn't do enough for everyone, always attentive, checking you had water , drinks ect. First 4 visits would of been 4 or 5 star , 5th visit was zero

We had such a lovely meal. It is a bit pricey but the staff were really friendly and the food was beautiful. My husband ordered the steak which was very tender and I had the garlic prawns (not a huge serving but quite filling) with Sticky date banana pudding for dessert - yum! Definitely would recommend

Service was friendly but food was disappointing. Pumpkin soup lacked flavour and Greek salad was very overpriced. $15 for a few lettuce leaves, couple of olives, few chunks of underripe tomato and a sprinkling of feta. Not sure it was dressed in olive oil (was a flavourless oil) and no vinegar.

Great Ambience and Service. Made a lunch Pitstop and ordered their daily special - Smokey Oysters, Fish and Chips and Pasta. Friendly and attentive owner - look out for the international currency notice board.

We had calamari and rocket salad entree - quite a lot of rocket compared to calamari. But the calamari was very fresh and tasty. The Bao buns (3 of) were very nice. Main course was very generous serves! The beef and dumplings was delicious with a good variety of fresh vegetables. The lamb tart was a huge slice accompanied by fresh and tasty salad. Service was friendly and prompt. Wines available were good quality and matched foods well. A very satisfying dinner.

Sad little restaurant that has been let go. Ridiculous pricing for food that is just as sad as the decor. $45 steak with a sad little spread of veg. "Sorry there is no gravy" If you're "chef" can't make gravy from scratch, you have no business charging the prices you do. This could be a great little spot if some Money was put back into it. Staff were doing the best they can. Wouldn't return. Almost $200 for a sad spread of food and frozen prebattered fish frozen supermarket pizza with frozen yellow chips.
