It is always risky heading out for dinner in the Xmas/ new year week in Phillip island. Traffic jams and long queues for restaurants. We waited 30 minutes for a seat in this our favourite eatery in Cowes but there was designated staff member working the queue, keeping everyone informed and moving. There were many staff all with clearly allocated tasks. When we sat down our order was taken immediately and food arrived promptly. The food, service and atmosphere were great and the crowds added to, rather than detracted from, the atmosphere. Rosa, still waiting tables in her 80’s, runs a tight ship.

Yes we couldn't agree more it is always a bit cray cray over that time of the year, and we always appreciate everyone patience and understanding. We definitely couldn't do it without all the amazing crew we have working at Pino's! happy to read you enjoyed your time with us!

Great service and lovely food. Portions are generous and great value for money. It is so great to have this option so far away from the city! The restaurant boasts indoor and outdoor seating! We came here for lunch and avoided dinner as they don’t take reservations which made it difficult to secure plans with a group of varied ages.

My husband and I had dinner here and enjoyed every bite. Because of COVID-19 restrictions we had to sit outside but were seated directly under a heater. Even though we were outside, the staff were still attentive and we never at any stage, felt ignored.
We started with brushetta and some garlic bread. The brushetta was lovely with some cheese (could have been feta) spread over the thinnest of toasts with wedges of slightly warmed sweet tomato and rocket on top. The garlic bread was wood fired toasted with just a lovely hint of garlic.
I had a woodfired capricciosa pizza. The crust was super thin and just the right amount of topping except for me, the anchioves were a bit light on. My husband had the pasta of the day which was a perfectly al dente penne with pork and veal meatballs in a tomato sauce.
We were too full for dessert.

After reading good reviews my hopes were high.
Horrible, understand we have Covid restrictons but to have so many groups of people waiting outside in the foyer, outside the doorthen different areas of the restaurant waiting to pick up their order and coming and going.
Surely invest in some sort of electronic buzzer that notifys people when their pizza is ready so they can come in instead of flooding the store.
Now the pizza, after surviving avoiding all the people and getting the pizza home to find it was oily, flavorless garlic filled dry tasting crust. What a waste of pizza.
3/10 is being generous.
I guess only tourists go here and are desperate or people just do know what a good pizza is.

Service is lacking. Overly waited for everything: a table, service, drinks and meals (at 5pm) restaurant wasn’t even 1-4 full.
Pasta meals arrived without a spoon when asked for a spoon for our meals the waitress said she couldn’t find a spoon for us to use with our spaghetti meal.
Seems very odd that a restaurant so large with only 1/4 full of customers at 5pm and there are no spoons!
Meal was very oily, bland & drenched in cream. Lacking in meatballs and pasta amount for one of the meals was very limited.
Very disappointing, overly priced. Go elsewhere such as the Italian restaurant on the corner down the road who go above and beyond for their customers and cook beautiful, authentic meals.

Having no Grand Prix and Covid limited capacity, the restaurant was not very full. The waiting staff were adequately attentive, but the meal itself was disappointing. The chicken parmigiana was dry and tasteless, the carbonara sauce tasted like it was from a jar, and the pasta was overcooked. The local wine on the wine list was unavailable.

We chose to eat here for llunch as we have tried three times to get inside but covid 19 has stopped us till now .The chicken snitzel and salad really delicious and fresh and totally enjoed the coffee. My partner has the gnocchi in pumlin sauce and it also was delicious .The staff were helpful and the premisies clean.Prices varied depending on offered specials and the menu was loaded with choices. If you are peckish then try this place and relax a while

The restaurant holds plenty of street appeal when you are deciding where to eat at Phillip Island. Service however is the downfall of this restaurant. Our our allocated waiter appeared to be new and untrained. Orders required follow up and the requested drinks remained sitting at the bar for 10 minutes requiring follow up. The requested table water never eventuated. Steak ordered came with chips only and no salad. The salmon however was excellent. Overall the food quality is good nut service is lacking.

My husband and I dined here last night with a 7pm booking and ordered cheesy garlic bread, mixed salad (iceberg lettuce, olives, cherry tomatoes), lasagna and pizza margherita. The ambience is lovely outdoors and the food was too die for! Yes, it took a bit more time to come out as three restaurant was super busy, but we were served all our mains and entrees within 1hr. The food has mouth watering flavour and we are so glad we were able to spend our first dinner in regional Victoria here. Ensure you book ahead to avoid missing out as it is super popular!

Good Italian food, obliging staff, most of whom were Italian, and an obvious effort to ensure customer satisfaction. Pizzas were varied in style but all were top class in flavour, presentation and value. We are happy to recommend this to anyone and will certainly return whenever practicable.

We went on a busy night so maybe that was the issue, but our food took ages to arrive. The garlic bread was bone dry and utterly tasteless; my cannelloni serve was small and rubbery (like a microwaved Aldi meal). My partner’s Parma was barely warm and came with salad only, no chips. So disappointed, we were starving and had been looking to dining out all day. There was no salt or pepper on our table.

Hi Vicki, thanks for sharing your experience, its unfortunate you felt we were lacking in areas. firstly i can assure you our cannelloni is made with homemade pasta sheets which the chefs make daily (we don't have a microwave in our kitchen) our menu does best describe what comes with meals - for example the Parmigiana does state that it comes with salad only, we could have happily added a side of chips for you.
You do raise a good point regarding salt/pepper we have removed them to avoid multiple consumers touching them so we only bring to the table on request and sanitise after each use- i will remind our staff to ask tables if they would like extra condiments.
Thanks

This place does not take reservations so you will need to line up to get in.
The food is good, and the atmosphere is quite noisy, so if you like that market style feel with lots of conversation, then this will suit you. The choices are home cooked pizza as well as other dishes and desserts. Definitely worth visiting if you love motorcycling GP history.

Hi Geoff thank you for taking the time to review Pino's, we agree that it can get noisy even with the acoustic panels our venue can struggle when it is busy, i guess as you mentioned it creates a certain feel for our venue. We appreciate your feedback, see you next time.

We had lunch here on a Thursday and both ordered pizza. Mine was the Aussie Pizza and my wife had the Capricciosa without olives and anchovies. Both pizzas were cooked well with a thin crisp base. The pizzas were generous and we took away nearly half of each pizza to eat later ( they were still good when warmed up). The wait staff were friendly and efficient. Our table was "outside" in a covered area at the side of the main restaurant. The atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried. Overall, a great relaxed lunch

I was on holidays with my family and we thought we would try this place for take away pizza. Pizza was very delicious and gourmet. Quick service. Friendly staff. Sizes were a little smaller than anticipated given the prices and bit light on toppings.
Overall though, a great place for a gourmet meal.

My husband and I were in cowes for the weekend and had just finished a grocery trip so were only intending to grab some takeaway due to being quite underdressed. We were greeted to a beautiful establishment with fantastic smells. The menu was so appetising and when we made the comment to the lovely wait staff that we wished we had dressed better to sit down they couldn’t have been any more welcoming or accommodating.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience, the swordfish, calamari, the marinara pizza & affogato were to die for. Not one thing could be a negative review. The Pinot Grigio was also worth a mention too, a compliment to the meal.
The staff service was top notch, efficient and non intrusive, with all carrying a lovely smile which always tells me they enjoy their workplace. And seeing the celebrity Nona topped off our evening. If we could rate the place more than 10 we would.
