I have long been envious of Victorian friends who can drive to Apollo Bay for a day trip. They have raved about the Apollo Bay Bakery's scallop pies. We were there, we had to partake. The scallop pies are $12 each and are a standard pie size. There are two varieties, mornay and curried leek. Both are delicious, with flaky pastry and generous amounts of filling. Definitely worth trying, although I will have to return to try the meat and vegetable pies. The freshly baked bread looked great too.

I went here for a quick snack for pre breakfast before the local cafe opened . I got a sausage roll and a cheeseburger pie. Both were quite tasty however the pie was the standout. Very tasty and would definitely recommend. Prices a little on the high side with some sweet slices being between $5-7 each. Pies retail around $6-$6.50 but definitely worth it . Will be back

Great little bakery in main street of Apollo Bay. Very busy but staff were very
quick and I hadn't had time to decide what to order. I wanted my husband
to try the Curried Scallop Pie as I had heard about them and I do not eat
seafood. The pie costs $12 but my husband said it was worth that to try and
said it was delicious. I had a sausage roll, and it was great. The pastry
always makes the difference between a good sausage roll and a great one,
and there pastry is great.

I saw an advertisement for scallop pie and loving seafood just had to try. All Australian pies are very heavy in the calorie count but this aside it was delicious. I was amazed how generous the contents were, about 6 or more pieces of fish. The variety of pies on offer was incredible, something for every diet/ allergy catered for. This bakery was an ideal stop for both travellers and local shoppers. It was very busy and good value.

We paid the bakery a visit before we headed off for a day trip excited by the "famous" scallop pie. We bought some other treats too (doughnut, vanilla slice, steak and mushroom pie and a spinach and ricotta roll). We have been travelling for a month and look forward to our bakery visits when we visit a town.
Unfortunately we were disappointed by all the baked goods. The scallop pie was undercooked as was the steak pie (base very very soggy and tops barely cooked). The vanilla slice pastry was not cooked enough either and could only eat the custard portion.
It's a shame as I don't think they are after repeat customers, one off visitors along the great Ocean road (we visited the famous Port Elliot bakery everyday whilst we stayed in town in SA).

We loved the bakery, during our stay we had breakfast and lunch. Sausage roll, bacon and egg roll, salad roll and ham cheese sandwich and hot chocolate, all fresh and tasty and the prices very reasonable unlike in Lorne. Will definitely return on our next visit.

At $12, you'd expect the scallop pie to be something special...sad to say our experience was anything but. What we received looked nothing like the photos. No large plump scallops to be seen. Rather, it was a mixture of diced scallop pieces, undoubtedly frozen. Taste was unappealing.
Chocolate brownies were stale and stiff.
Very disappointing, considering the plaudits given to this business by other reviewers.
I'd never go back there, and there are much better, fresher options in Apollo Bay.

We were looking for a small bite to eat for lunch, went to the bakery and they had heaps of options still left which was great given it was 1.30 on a Saturday. Staff were all very friendly, prices were good and service was quick without being rushed. Had lots of tables and chairs outside and a few inside. Very organised for Covid as well as they have “ waiting area” outside if the shop is full

Probably the worst scallop pie I have had, it was more like a scallop soup than a pie. The sauce was very watery and flavourless. When I attempted to bite into the pie the soggy base split open and the contents squirted down the front of my shirt. I expected a much better product for $12.

Stopped here for lunch, very busy could hardly move for the people, thoughly enjoyed our garlic prawn pie and my Mum who isn't a big eater loved the mini sandwich rolls. We took frozen scallop pies home as well and they were very delicious. Great place for lunch, lots of choices.

Look, a welcoming atmosphere and staff, only restricted by the need to have a broad range of products. I think this is one of several bakeries along the coats and is run to a formula rather than being a version of a "mother's kitchen" if you know what I mean. perfectly adequate without the little bit of extra. The staff are great.

Our guide James, of Great Ocean Road Tours, brought us here for lunch. What a treat! There were so many pies to choose from but their specialty is scallop pie. Several of us had sausage rolls. Everything was fresh and the crust amazing. To finish, we had a mixed berry pie. Easy parking. Dine in or carry away.

I love this place. I spent a total of three nights in Apollo Bay on my GOR trip and visited here each morning, more than once. I'd go there as soon as they opened at 6am for my first coffee of the day, back again about an hour later for breakfast, and then, finally, before I set off for my day's exploring I'd get something to have for lunch later.
The coffee was great, and by the third morning the lady knew what I wanted, long mach? Yes please. The bacon and egg roll was good, the scallop pie was interesting, although I think I'd have enjoyed it more if I was there for lunch rather than breakfast, and next time I'll try the curried scallop pie. I got pre-prepared rolls to take with me for lunch, various meats and salad, but the standout was the kid's ham and cheese rolls, so tasty. I also got the best lamington of my life, and I've had a few over the years, which I had for morning tea (coffee) at Cape Otway Light Station. The sausage roll was really good, too.

Not only was the pie and brownie over priced, but they both desperately under performed. The pie was undercooked and rushed, lacking the structural integrity needed to enjoy. Instead it was falling apart before I even but it. Not #%{ÂŁ{! amused. The brownie was alright but not worth a fiver. I would not recommend or wish the experience upon my worst enemy. God save us.

The scallop pies are definitely worth trying - I had the mornay callop pie yesterday and enjoyed it enough to sneak another in for breakfast today. the pies are really nicely seasoned, lots of great slow cooked veg and herbs, and the scallops are very fresh and kept whole and plump. There is a delicious tang, which might be mustard and the pastry was wonderfully crisp. I like the fact the bakery is built for volume - we didn't have to wait and there were plenty of steaming pies ready to go. My partner loved his croissant and chicken parmigiana pie too! Great effort!
Also, bonus points for a great range of gf pies. My mum is coeliac, and will be visiting you soon!
