This is a very comfortable Italian restaurant in Apollo Bay; It is up off the main road in Moore Street. It caters for approximately 50 diners in a very subdued and warm atmosphere. Service from the onset was excellent, being friendly and helpful The menu consists of a reasonable range of pizzas and pastas etc none of which were very expensive We chose to prawn ravioli which was very good, and the Spaghetti Puttanesca, which contain olives, anchovies, chilli, and capers. This turned out to be a very rich meal and also a very large meal. From what I could see around the restaurant, most of the diners were served with large meals, large meals that on average were no more than $18-$19. There was a wide range of red and white wines available, with glasses available at quite reasonable prices I would certainly recommend this place if you’re in Apollo Bay. It is a welcoming warm and inexpensive place to dine Great value for money

I had booked ahead by phone with a man called Keith but my booking was not in the book, luckily I went in to confirm beforehand. We chose the 7.45pm later sitting, the restaurant was very busy on arrival, unlike at 6 pm when I went in to check our booking. Service from the young staff was excellent. Meals took a while to come but we had a quiet table in the back corner with a couple of nice bottles of wine. Two of us had the Fish of the day, Snapper which came whole and was well cooked. The other two had Pasta dishes which were surprisingly ordinary. Nice atmosphere and well decorated restaurant,a step up from most in Apollo Bay.

The great service started early when the owner opened the doors for us a few minutes early and let us get a drink while he finished opening up the restaurant. Our waiter was charming and the beef Raghu gnocchi was over the top, and the serving was Italian portions! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

I had eyeballed this place while planning our trip, and our hotel owner said it is the best in Apollo Bay. They have a nice wine list with several good choices for a glass. The specials on the board all sounded great. My wife got the spaghetti and meatballs in a rose sauce and I the seafood linguini. The food was excellent. BUT fair warning it is spicy and has a flair - so if you don’t like spicy you might try other things. The service was quick and attentive. I am so happy we choose this place in Apollo Bay!

My partner and I chose this establishment, after a quick survey of the local options. Next time, we will hire a detective. Casalingo had a table for us at short notice and the menu online looked good, if cliched. The place was very busy with few empty tables. Many couples of all ages were seated and smiling. We ordered after a brief deliberation; Italian pinot Gris ( thanks Italy for this treasure), risotto and a goats cheese and roasted pumpkin pizza with pear and rocket salad. We handed back the menus as the food arrived. It was fast The pizza was a perfect circle, biscuit like in texture and not inviting but we were hungry. The base was nothing more than a a supermarket job, defrosted and smeared with tomato paste.i have say, I couldn't see the goats cheese or pumpkin without my glasses. We pushed on, hungry and amused. The salad helped. You couldn't get that wrong and they didn't. My risotto was a good looking porridge like mound but dry. The rice was not arborio, there was no stock in the rice The only flavour was in the occasional piece of innocent zucchini. A stingy few lumps of fetta sat on top. In a state of panic, I asked for parmesan and my partner for oil. The oil was useful as the cook had seemingly not used it in either meal. The parmesan was from Coles and consisted of little perfect sticks of tasteless cheese like matter. I can name the brand that makes it. We resolved to tell the owner that the food and ambience was more like Bunnings than an Italian restaurant. He was astonished to hear that the kitchen had let him down. He didn't conceed that the purse strings are held by the owner. This was a laughable experience. We payed the bill, hoping that our complaint makes a difference. The food was not Italian in any sense. Italians rejoice in cooking. Avoid this sham.

We were recommended this place through a work colleague who “knew someone” and it didn’t disappoint. The service was lovely, the restaurant is very nice, and the food was delicious. I had the crab pasta (being pescatarian) and I hadn’t had much crab before. The dish was amazing and I polished off the entire bowl full. Will definitely be heading back.

We dined here whilst on a road trip along the Great Ocean Road. We started with the warmed olives and shucked oysters with mignonette vinaigrette which were really nice. The serving size for the olives was generous, and the oysters were very fresh. For mains we had the Roasted Duck on the Bone and the Pork Belly with a side of the Steamed Green Vegetables, Garlic and Toasted Almonds. The food was of great quality and the service was very attentive and friendly - all in all, a very pleasant dining experience.

We live in Melbourne but have a house at Skenes Creek. We have recently been to Casalingo 3 times in the last fortnight either as a couple or with family and on each occasion every dish was excellent. This restaurant is the equal or better than many Italian restaurants we visit in Melbourne. The pasta dishes are superb.

We had dinner a couple of times at Casalingo on a recent trip to Apollo Bay and greatly enjoyed both the food and the service. For entrees we had the fried calamari and warm olives since we enjoyed them so much the first time. We tried a range of pastas for mains including the classics (homemade lasagne, spaghetti carbonara, linguine marinara) and a crab linguine and creamy chicken penne, all of which were delicious and generously portioned. The service was excellent (shout out to our German waiter Thorben who made us feel very welcome), with share plates provided without needing to ask, checking on our satisfaction with our meals and drinks, taking birthday photos, all with a smile. Thank you Casalingo, we will be back!

Friendly reception. A wait of 20 minutes (walking in off the street) but a lovely Riesling to calm anxious diabetic nerves Shown to a nice table. Good selection on menu. Pleasant waitress. Food arrived within 10-12 minutes hot and delicious (crab linguine) Highly recommended.

We enjoyed a well prepared meal with generous portions at Casalingo. There was one glitch when two of us four ordered the same dish and only one was served. Quite a delay for one diner but then the dishes were all very good. The linguine marinara had wonderfully generous portions of each fish.

Absolutely amazing! If you want a great steak this is the place to go. We had amazing steaks and also ordered fish of the day which was a whole baby snapper and weren’t disappointed at all! Kids size spaghetti was basically a main size so everyone was super full and happy. Desserts are a must too! Would definitely dine again. Fabulous staff too.

We went to this restaurant by chance because the one they told us (Graze) practically sent us away when we arrived at 7.40pm, telling us that the chef was no longer there. Well it was our luck, very good cuisine, also Italian products, kindness and courtesy. Even having arrived only 40 minutes before closing, they didn't make us worry about it, and let us have dinner peacefully. Definitely recommended for the kindness and above all the quality of the dishes and products. If you go there you will definitely be satisfied.

It was wonderful. Been travelling around for over 2 weeks. Read some fairly recent reviews on your site before we headed out and decided to show up. No reservation but we were fortunate to be seated right away. We enjoyed a shared greek salad followed by mussels and the evening special, spagetti with meatballs. They were a combination of ground beef and spicy salami in a wonderful sauce. So good, highly recommend the restaurant but make a reservation so you won't be disappointed if they are full!

ordered a medium rare steak but they brought us a burnt steak and said we were wrong, we had to order it correctly. did not even deign to replace the dish. I do not recommend this restaurant, the chef cooks badly in this restaurant, the waiters cheat, the prices are overpriced, the dishes are 3 points out of 10
