Friday night dinner

This is the second Friday we have bought dinner here. On both occasions the food was freshly cooked and delicious. You can order a prepared box choosing one of three price points (gold, silver or bronze) or select from menu items displayed in the shop. If possible order and pay in advance to avoid waiting as the shop is very popular on Friday nights.

Fantastic flathead

This place was recommended to us for lunch, the takeaway fish and chip section is not open all the time, so check opening hrs before you go, I think they are 11am-2pm Monday to Friday. It is very busy and we waited 5 minutes to be served and then 15 minutes for the fish to be cooked. It was by far the best battered fish I have had in a long time. I would suggest phoning your order through though

A must visit if you like Seafood

Stopped here for seafood, you can take cold cooked seafood e.g All local produce oysters, prawns, scollps, crayfish. and fresh fish, If you want it cooked they will it fresh while you wait. Also seafood and scollop pies are excellent.

Seafood City!

My friend ordered 3 x takeaway baskets, the fish was flathead and it was simply the best fish meal we have had for ages, the chips and salad were terrific too. I buy fresh fish from here or at the Harvest Market Saturday mornings in Launceston. Their fish is extraordinary and would recommend their takeaway food. Pre-order as I have heard it can be busy / slow at times. Takeaway available Friday nights.

Fresh is best!

This establishment is not pretentious, but it is not the scenery that you come for. The fresh fish is cooked to order! This takes just enough time to devour a dozen oysters whilst waiting. They were so fresh you could taste the sea. The fish, likewise, was so beautifully cooked that the flakes fell apart. Fabulous fresh seafood! It goes to show that good ingredients simply cooked are hard to beat.

Excellent live lobster!

Live lobster ate as sashimi. Excellent and very fresh. Very cheap, helped by the recent trade dispute with China. Unfortunately, no oyster today. Staff said oyster not available on Monday because boats did not go out yesterday. Need to come back another day for fish & chips and oyster!

Unbelievably good value

Went to buy fresh fish but saw the menu for cooked seafood so decided to lunch and ordered the "gold" pack. Seating is outside and not flash but the service was personal and the food beyond our expectations. Stunning flathead, crispy chips and a delicious tartare as well as lemon. Best fish and chips we've had for years (and that is saying something as fish and chips are generally excellent in Taste). Give it a go, you will be impressed.

Great fish and chips

We saw a sign on the East Tamar Highway for this place and decided to check it out for lunch. It is in the back streets but luckily signposted along the way. We both had fish and chips. The fish was very tasty and fresh, the chips were nice and thick. Staff were friendly and we were served quickly, but warned there would be a wait as they had a few large orders first. Well worth a visit.

Pretty ordinary unfortunately

We heard a lot of good views from family and friends, however we must have picked an off day. The fish (flathead and flake) were only average. The chips were not good at all. Tasted stale and overall not much more than a handful in each serve at a cost of $41 for the fish and chips, I VERY rarely give a bad review but the offering disappointed us. Better value and quality at Bridport and Swansea where we have tried recently. Sorry...

Seafood at its Best

Whenever hubby and I travel to the coast, we always seek out fresh seafood. Truly there is nothing like it! We have never been disappointed and George Town Seafoods met our expectation. With such a huge range of fish to choose from, the choice is only limited by your imagination. The staff are very helpful if you are unsure what to buy. Battered or lightly crumbed, the fish was ever so tasty. The other crustaceans were also great (scallops unbelievably fresh). The best part was that you could choose to have takeaway or take it home and cook it yourself. The chips and variety of condiments were also excellent.

Best Batter Ever

We had battered flathead and chips, and it was the best, lightest batter I have ever tasted. The chips were great, too. Chips often give me bad indigestion, but not these. This is basically a take-away cafe, although there are a few tables outside where you can eat.

Best seafood straight off the boats . you can enjoy the food sitting outside sheltered with your well behaved dog . The staff of ladies are the most amazingly friendly that we have ever encountered. We always come here when visiting the North and will continue to do so. If you are in Hobart visit Farmgate Market on Sunday to buy direct from George Town Seafoods.

Absolutely delicious

I was feeling hungry and decided to eat here . I ordered the Fishburger and chips and the salmon fish cake . They were all absolutely delicious, light and fresh tasting. High quality food and good prices . Highly recommend

Great seafood and price compared to Launceston. Much better than Launceston.

Bought dozen oyster to make kilpatrick at home. Lovely and lge and beautiful when cooked. Also purchased scallops again larger than available elsewhere and great for curried scallops. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend
