Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped here on Saturday evening before heading up to the penguins. Was an impromptu stop for us and only had limited time. 6 of us walked in the door (4 adults and 2 children) and the lady (presumably the owner) couldn’t have been more...accommodating if she tried. Even after we said we were in a rush she made sure we we served, fed and out the door in time to see the penguins. That’s just the beginning of how good this place is. The food was some of the best we have eaten. From the first bite to the last, which our plates weren’t empty as we were all so full, everything was delicious. We were checked on multiple times by the owner to make sure everything was ok, she kept our kids entertained and was so warm and friendly. Our kids said this place is AWESOME!!! Thank you for being so wonderful and we highly recommend trying this delicious Italian food if you’re ever in George Town!More

Don Mario's is the perfect place for lunch in George Town. On the day we went, the house special of a prawn burger was delicious. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!

Awesome food and fantastic service. Great selection of genuine Italian meals and very filling. The dessert was amazing, especially the baklava cheesecake.

Very unassuming , relaxed and friendly owners and staff. When ordering we went with their recommendation on the carnivore pizza for $28 and honestly I haven’t had a pizza that good in Tasmania. ingredients was fresh the crust thin and perfect you could certainly taste...the pride that went into making this pizza. I will definitely be taking friends back to Georgetown to impress them with this incredible find. Thank you Don Mario you blew us away.More

It was pouring down rain and the Bass and Flinders museum was closed so we sought out somewhere to have a coffee and to get out of the rain. Don Mario's was only about 50 metres away so it was the winner. Walked into the...shop part of the building and asked was it alright to order some coffees. Certainly and would you like to sit down in the restaurant to have them? Coffee and the surrounds were good.More

Called in for lunch and were impressed with the ambience inside. Whilst customers were light, the part owner and service were really good. Had a nice chat with the part owner (wife part of the husband & wife owners) who we found to be very...pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately fresh fish had not arrived from the local fish suppliers so we missed out on ordering that. At least we now know that it is locally sourced and supplied fresh.. The meals that we did order we found to be fresh and 'big enough without being too big' and reasonably priced. We had heard about their home-made creme brulee so, of course, had to try one - not disappointed. Looking forward for another visit. Be warned: closed Mondays and Tuesdays.More

We went to Don Mario restaurant for lunch today and found the service to be very rude and not accommodating at all when I ordered bangers and mash off the menu the rude waitress looked at me like they didn't have it but it was...surely on the menu and I made a comment you should know what's on the menu and she muttered something. We had to ask three times could we please have some table water and when the jug finally arrived the waitress said dobyiu want glasses with that ?? My meal came and it was really small and the peas were like bullets. Will not be backMore

I’ve had Italian food - homemade from best friend’s nonna … this is the VERY best we’ve had - from all over USA, Canada, Europe, NZ, and Australia. Try the Lamb Salad, Fettuccine Crema Pollo, Canneloni with ricotta and spinach! Oh goodness me! Then, because...we knew it was brilliant, we had the crème brûlée - oh I’m in love!!More

I ordered the parmigiana . Chicken was just cooked through. Nothing Italian about it , standard pub food . Not good , not lousy . 2-3 out of 10 on the parmy scale . I was waiting for something to make it amazing , it...never happened . Chips were frozen , same as you get in so many places . Nothing amazing . Pub in George Town is better . Locals love Don Mario’s but forget it . Window ledges have something on them that looks like lumps of salt ? No idea what this is. One owner sits outside ALL the time , the other is out the front smoking with other staff. Honestly it’s not good , go elsewhere .More
