Called in passing a grabbed a coffee. Great coffee and friendly staff! Always tricky to pick the best coffee when passing through a town....they nailed it.

Thanks for the review, we think we have great coffee but it's always nice when someone agrees 😊
Late review, but I just realised I forgot to leave one when I visited here in June and that was remiss of me because it was one of my favourite meals on my Northern road trip. Coming in out of the dreary June rain and...cold and being seated right near a roaring fire? Tick. A delicious glass of warm, sweet, full-flavoured mulled wine? Tick The warm atmosphere, chatter and friendly staff? Tick The pumpkin risotto? Mega tick. Delicious. Rich risotto, salty tasty brussels sprouts. Absolutely the perfect winter dish. The apple tarte tatin? Tick. Okay, so the brandy stubbornly refused to catch fire. But I honestly didn't mind, I appreciated the effort and the waitress and I had a good laugh about it. The tarte tatin was delicious anyway. I left feeling warm, uplifted and very full. Looking at the menu, it was really clear that the team here have thoughtfully created a menu that is elevated in quality while still feeling making it feel rustic and homely, which is exactly what an old pub in Deloraine on a winter night should be selling. I already often recommended Deloraine to interstate travellers because it really is a beautiful town - I will now be specifically recommending they book in for a meal at Cycles while there.More
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely and thorough review. We always try our best and it is lovely to hear your kind words.
Twelve of us had a wonderful evening and meal at The Empire. The service was fast, food prepared expertly, not overpriced either. Would go again for sure. 😁
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed your meal. Cheers Amanda
Midweek night in a small country town so who would think you'd need to book a table. We learnt for the second night. Good food, good service and a friendly team.
Thanks for the review, glad you managed to get in on the second night and that you enjoyed your night. Cheers Amanda
A delightful pub / restaurant with excellent food. So good that I visited twice during my stay. The steak was excellent and the accompanying vegetables even better still - recommended
Thanks for the review, we love the veg and steak as well so are glad you did to. Cheers Amanda
Loved our time staying at the Empire in Deloraine - clean comfortable rooms in an historic building with charm and character. Relaxed friendly family run business with excellent food. Will definitely return!!
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed your stay and your meals. We look forward to seeing you again. Cheers Amanda
We couldn't fault our food. The pate was divine and the serves are generous. We were too full to try the amazing sounding desserts. Nice selection of beer too. Food delivered to nearbyvtables also looked great. Their curries especially and nice to see interesting vego...options. The staff are friendly and professional. We wouldn't hesitate to return on our next Tassie trip.More
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed your meal. Come again and have dessert first 😉 Cheers Amanda
Not usually I fell perfectly full after eating at a restaurant but I fell amazing after my chicken tenders the chips and a salad Cooked perfectly and tasted amazing
Thanks Dan glad you enjoyed your meal.
We stopped at Cycles for coffee. It's a nice place with a pleasant feel and the staff were good. However, our coffees were poorly made and only just drinkable - a let-down for an otherwise pleasing venue.
Oh sorry for your experience, we must have been off our game that day as the reviews for our coffee is generally very positive. Cheers Amanda
Great food and service. Welcoming publican. Food was yummy. The cottage pie especially. Good atmosphere during the day and night. Preferable to book. They also serve spiced mulled wine. Bit expensive at $12 per glass but everything is expensive these days.
Glad you enjoyed your meal, not sure where you got the $12 per glass for the spiced wine, it is only $9.00. Glad you enjoyed the cottage pie.
Stopped in for lunch and both of us had weak coffees and a very anaemic, tasteless pumpkin soup. Very poor quality. We won’t be back.
Sorry you didn't enjoy your experience, we strive to improve continually.
My friend and I stayed at the Empire, and ate downstairs at their restaurant. It was a busy night (though suspect every night is busy here) so had to wait a little while for a table, but that wasn't a problem. Any suggestion the Empire...is an old-style country pub is blown away by the menu: so many great options to tempt, all served with fresh ingredients and with many with exotic / sophisticated touches. My friend had the seared wallaby tenderloin, which he raved about. I plumped for the glazed eggplant dish, which was good but not the exotic taste experience I had hoped for. But while this dish didn't quite work for me, it was great to see the chef putting up so many adventurous combinations on the menu. Clearly, the local diners love it and are coming back for more.More
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed your stay.
Great food at very reasonable prices. Service was terrific and the selection of local beer/wine added to a lovely experience. Music in the lane way next door was cool too.
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed your experience.
We ate dinner here mid-week with our 3 year old. It was a busy evening. We certainly had a mixed experience. On one hand, the meals we received were delicious (steak and beef cheek, plus a garlic bread). Based on the food, we gave a...4 star review. However, we both thought the menu was quite expensive. We were really disappointed that there was no dedicated kids menu, just 3 options for "smaller appetites", and these options were also expensive ($17-$18 each). We ordered a bowl of chips as well, however when it arrived, they were sweet potato. Easy mix up, but when corrected, a replacement bowl of chips never arrived. We went to the counter to ask after them and cancel them (as we had already finished our meals by this time). The kind young man behind the counter did, in fact, send a replacement but the waitress (who didn't seem to want to be there) took them to a different table. They were taken off our bill and we were offered free drinks, so the young man handled the situation well. Just a shame.More
Thanks for the review, it is a shame when mix ups happen especially if this does not get explained. We prefer to have a menu that doesn't discriminate as we find there are lots of people with smaller appetites but they don't want to order...More
Gorgeous and quaint pub . Super friendly owners and family run pub . Dinner was great . Baked Camembert entree was delicious . Mushroom Risotto was cooked perfectly and a large serving . Home made chicken snitty was very tasty and filling. Guinness on tap...and a nice selection of wines.More
