Had the hot cold platter and sat upstairs. The view was great and the food was really good. The service was great and the platter was explained to us as you could choose different sauces for the lobster.
As the platter was two plates, the young lady that was serving, helped carry our food upstairs.
Must eat here if you’re in Bischeno. They also do takeaway if you don’t want to eat at the restaurant.

We were recommended this location during our trip to Tasmania. Did not disappoint. This is not for fine dining or restaurant experience it is a cafe with spectacular views. The lobster moray was superb and the oysters were fresh and very large. The seafood chowder was one of the best I experienced. Do yourself a favour and put this location on your list.

If you want proper, quality, fresh food, then go somewhere else. This place had be touted as a place to visit. We walked in and got the 'fast food joint' vibe. The views were good though, so lets try the food anyway. We got lobster roll and salmon. The lobster was very average and only a tiny amount, and the salmon was rubbery and inedible. We asked for the manager who said it was overcooked, but even so, overcooked doesnt usually make it rubbery. We suspect it had been frozen before being overcooked. We got a refund and walked out.
Fortunately we had already had amazing lobster in Hobart - even at the Salamanca markets - so we knew it wasnt a 'tasmanian lobster' issue. It was a restaurant issue.

The reviews are very good but I was disappointed with my lobster roll and fries both the size and the amount of filling. My husband had fried calamari which was a generous portion size and much better value. Maybe it was because it was fresh frozen instead of in season lobster.

Crumbed fish and calamari were good, generous serve of fish. Views great, very busy. Price was $22 for each meal one of the cheapest meals since arriving in Tasmania 3 weeks ago.

Though the food was excellent, the overall experience was rather disappointing.
First of all, there is a large sign saying “don’t feed the seagulls” which was totally ignored by a couple, resulting in multiple low passes of numerous white bombers. However none of the crew said anything at all to the couple, obviously not caring at all.
Secondly, be very careful with the small ketchup cups you receive with your meal: they are a true hazard for your outfit. Trying to open it I got covered in ketchup.
When returning our food trays (as not to attract those seagulls again for other guests) I politely suggested they change the ketchup cups for sachets. The waitress shrugged her shoulders, replied “I’m not gonna apologise for that, I only work here” before turning around and walking off. Though technically her response was correct, it lacked any empathy and showed she also couldn’t care less. A jaw-dropping experience :-(

This is located in a great spot overlooking the small natural harbour.
It is a simple seafood restaurant/cafe serving fish and chips, lobster, oysters and even Ice creams etc.
There are tables and chairs internal and externally and even a small room upstairs where you can dine.
You need to place your order, find a table and wait for your buzzer to go off to pick up your food.
We had the lobster mornay which was cooked nicely. The fish in the fish and sweet potato meal was overcooked and stringy so not cooked well and the sweet potato crisps were soggy and moist.
Unfortunately, the cafe did not have any nut crackers for the lobster so I had to break up the shell by hand - poor form if you ask me. They should have had this available especially when you paid so much for the lobster.
Great view from the cafe, food was average.

I am 82years old, very much disabled and housebound. A friend of mine visited from Melbourne. We agreed to have lunch in your establishment. The first shock was, No disability parking, the second shock i had to wrangle my walker inside the restaurant over a very steep step to get to the table of our choice. My friend had half a lobster whish in my opinion was overcooked. I had the special of the day, green curry Thai fishballs. After my first bait, i was truly disgusted. I was a chef in my younger years myself and know what goes into Thai fishballs. Theese fish cakes lacked flavouring and a bit of salt, also ther was no lime in it. Needless to say my day and enjoyment with my friend turned into a big flop. Apart from the disapointing lunch, the total lack of disability parking is an insult to all disabled people that may concidre visiting your restaurant. Our money is as good as anyone elses, and being discriminated against us and disrespected in this way is unvorgivable.

Our site was primary built as a live lobster processing facility which we have diversified to provide a cafe eatery therefor parking has been an ongoing development. We appreciate your feedback and can certainly assure you we welcome people from all walks of life with all mobility requirements. I am aware our staff offered you assistance, and the ability to park in the main driveway directly next to the cafe entrance. We will endeavor to make it clearer for people with mobility issues about the options available for them, as we do have a ramp to the right of the main entrance which ensure you have no steps at all. With regards to your meal we have provided the feedback to our Head Chef, and we are always willing to provide an alternative meal if customers are unsatisfied with their choice. Kind regards Sara

Having dined there on the 15th and 16th of this month , the Wednesday night meal of crayfish mornay and my order of scallops was great. Then on the Thursday night my wife and myself ordered the Surf and Turf after a recommendation from staff.My wife ordered her meal with more prawns and NO scallops , while mine was Surf and Turf with the lot and mushroom gravy. Our meals arrived and i had NO prawns or scallops , the waitress returned my meal to the kitchen and i had to wait for another steak to be cooked . When my meal did return still with No scallops the second time ,I had had enough of the Very Poor service,I was offered a scoop of icecream as an apology which i declined. Will not be back.Very Disappointed.

We are a small, family-owned business and primary producer of premium Tasmanian seafood and will certainly take your feedback on board. We appreciate your feedback, however as this was our very first evening of offering a Surf & Turf there seemed to be some learnings with regards to alterations to orders and ensuring the kitchen understood this. We have since reviewed our order taking process and improved this to reduce any issues in the future.

Dissapointing & overpriced - $27 for a tiny burger bun with maybe 100g of lobster which is a generous estimate, along with about 8 chips. Tasteless chowder. Came to Tassie for a seafood feast, Hobart lobster rolls and chowder were amazing not to mention reasonably priced. We drove up the coast to Bicheno specifically for this place. Now wish we'd stayed in Hobart. I'd like to think they had a bad day, or the usual chef was sick, but we won't be going back to find out.

As an airline employee, and travelling to Tasmania many times.. I eventually got a chance to travel and experience the region with my wife.
We unfortunately only had a night in this area before our booking down in Huonville.
Leesa, who greeted us was amazing..
if you make the time to stop in, spend the $ and make it show you how much value you get..
where else in Australia do you get hot lobster rolls?

Had lunch here after visiting the nearby blowhole. The lobster rolls were generously filled and tasty as were the fish and chips. Service was prompt and friendly. And the location was great with a beautiful view over the water and nearby rocks and wildlife. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

The fish chowder here alone is well worth travelling to Bicheno for. It is simply the most delicious seafood dish we have had since arriving in Tasmania. It is obviously one of the restaurant’s signature dish with a great array of mixed seafoods in a full flavoured chowder. We followed this with a lobster roll which contained a generous amount of lobster meat. The Lobster Shack has a good selection of east coast wines available to complement their locally caught seafood. The views from the restaurant are superb as it is situated right on the seafront.

Me and my wife ordered a $250 lunch and it was fairly average at best.
Chowder was tasteless with raw potato and veg in it. Prawns with the tails still on in a soup? The seafood platter had kilpatrick oyster which where tiny, overcooked, and covered in way to much thick sce, so you basically couldn’t taste any oyster. The cray was covered in dried rosemary butter which was not nice. 2 small pieces of crumbed fish. The lobster roll was ok but nothing special. Overall was disappointing considering we made a special trip from Ulverstone just to come here.
