Nothing fancy really. The salad dressing was nice. Nice they catered vegetarian with lasagne, although it wasn’t firm pasta type just a vege stack wit pasta sauce. Was ok still though. Men’s toilet had broken window and felt dirty with a smell. Women’s toilet ok. Service was standard.

Good pub food

Big serves with great service. My grilled whiting had 3 whiting fillets, which were delicious, with a huge serve of chips and a basic salad. The staff were great and helped us to “construct” affogatos with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, an expresso and a shot of frangelico. Friendly and fun evening.

Good steak, friendly service, where the locals go.

We went there for dinner, pre season December 2020. The tables in the restaurants were all booked, but staff found a table for us in the bar area. There are high tables, but we were grateful to have a place for dinner, as thee are not many options in Kingscote. we had the 300g porterhouse steak with chips and salad and the chicken/haloumi salad. Both dishes were nice, well presented. The steak was tender and juicy, one of the better steaks I had in -even more expensive- restaurants. The bar area has a strong sports bar vibe and that is where you meet the locals. Service was quick and friendly. Generally a nice experience, this is the better of the two Kingscote evening diners.

Not what we had in mind

We went to the Queenscliff for dinner on our first night of our holiday...... I had ordered the beef snitty and my husband had the chicken snitty. Mine was overcooked and I seemed to be chewing for ages for one bite. As my husband was eating I stopped him and pulled a long blonde hair out of his mouth, unfortunately I wasn't able to pull the whole strand out as it broke off. My poor husband :| it made us both feel quite sick..we aren't ones to complain but we wont go back there again.

Great Steak place

Scotch fillet steak (300gm) with pepper sauce was so tender and was served with veg. Came with chip which were amazing as well. Simple casual place . Deep fried Camembert cheese with beetroot relish was different and delish.

Fish and chips were good

The food was good. But the approach to seating was odd. With no booking, I was given the 'last' two person table available. The dining room had only two other tables occupied. Like you couldn't move tables? I ate and by the half hour or so when I left, there was one LESS table occupied. Seriously, there were a dozen or more tables open. Odd. There is only so much dining $ around in Kingscote, I'd think they'd work to serve me or make it so I would want to come back. No, not going to make a booking, I'll move on.

Great priced pub meal

Our hotel in American River was average and over priced so we went to Kingscote pub for dinner. The food was excellent and at pub prices too, the meal itself was very tasty and large and everyone else at our dinner loved their meals which we large. Will come back here again for a meal.

Kids loved it

Staff, ambiance, food lovely. The room was full and buzzing on a Tuesday night. The only negative was that the youngest had finished his meal before the other 3 of us received ours - probably due to well done steak. Maybe we should have asked for all meals to come together.

Great pub dinner

The Queenscliff is a great family pub that serves a great selection of pub classics. The meals are fresh, well prepared and generous with a great price point. The atmosphere in the dining room is casual and relaxed with friendly and fun staff. We dined here on our last night in Kingscote and it was a nice way to finish off a great trip.

The locals love this pub and so did we.

A local recommended this pub and we made a booking and was glad we did as it was full by 7 pm. Good selection of pub meals. We ordered A prawn pizza, garlic prawns, lamb shank, and chicken schnitzel. All tastes good.

Great service and food, highly recommended. Friendly staff, definitely the best pub in town😉 Mixed grill is on the specials board but was still sensational. The other picture is a beef schnitzel with pepper sauce, best pepper sauce I have ever had!

Sadly bad food despite recommendations that it was good :(

I feel terrible that I have to write this but we had the worst food sadly :( I had done so much research and followed a few groups on FB that all said ‘all the locals go here’ I had a Burger and I just had fond memories of my own local Country Pub and their Burgers having a delicious home made beef pattie…….sadly that was not the case! It was seriously disgusting cheap bought Pattie I could only think…….i had to remove it and just eat the salad on bread. The Irish girl was just lovely and I couldn’t bring myself to putting a downer on our wonderful trip to KI by saying something. My husband had a prawn pasta I think which was average and my daughters pizza wasn’t too bad - but would I recommend the food here to anyone else def not sorry!

Great meals and atmosphere

The hustle and bustle of families and people so alive and happy just enjoying the moment was a plus to the delicious dinner we had here on our last night to wrap up our Kangaroo Island holiday. Although the restaurant was very busy we didn’t have a long wait for our meals. The staff were friendly with a sense of humour! Cheers to Kangaroo Island!

Astonishingly good food

What fabulous food! We stopped in for a bite to eat and were lucky to get a table as this place is deservedly very popular. I had a burger (one of the juiciest, tastiest I've ever, ever had!), my brother had the chicken wrapped in bacon, and my sister-in-law had the grilled fish with chips. There wasn't a crumb left on any of our plates! Everyone was exceptionally happy, and every other meal we saw brought out looked equally delicious. I'm confident we'll be back, despite only staying in Kingscote for three nights. Thank you to the chef and all the staff - phenomenal work!!!

Don’t go anywhere else in Kingscote

The most amazing lamb shank ever. The meat was so tender and the sweet potato mash made the meal astounding. The staff could not have been more friendly and we finished off the night with free games on the pool table in the front bar. By far the best meal in Kingscote
