This place was an absolute gem! Clearly the locals have already discovered it, because it was quite busy, but handled seamlessly by the highly professional staff. We were greeted with the offer of a complimentary still or sparkling rosé, which was delicious, and put a smile on our faces immediately. Service was exceptional - warm, friendly, attentive and highly knowledgeable. We had the arancini and prawns for entrée, which were both extremely tasty and perfectly cooked. The gnocchi alla melanzane (with eggplant) was one of the best gnocchis I have ever tasted. The gnocchi was feather-light, and the eggplant and sauce were rich and utterly scrumptious. The serves were very large, so my partner finished mine, and agreed how wonderful it was. The maccheroni ragu was also declared to be fabulous. The restaurant has only been there since the start of 2022, but is in an old chaff mill, which is the most incredible setting. Soaring ceilings, tall timbers, lots of stonework and corrugated iron gave it a rustic feel, but with the warmth of open fires, and the happiness of people enjoying amazing food. I predict this will soar to the top of the ratings for Clare - we can’t wait to go back!

Greeted at the door by a charming front of house Italian lass and instantly transported to Italy, her knowledge and pleasant demeanour was wonderfully enchanting. The sommelier is very Italian, vibrant and also sells the food and wine experience very well. I ate the Gnocchi Al Tartufo, would definitely rate the gnocchi as the softest and lightest I have eaten, the combination of truffles and mushroom were beautiful, paired with a glass of Ilbio, umbria IGT Rosso made from the sagrantino grape, a perfect recommendation. Can recommend this experience highly enough. Will have to dive back from Perth to try some more of the menu.

Stopped at Ragu&Co in Clare for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and had a great experience. Was warmly welcomed by Romolo the owner and his staff. The menu was a great selection of antipastas, entrees, mains and desserts. They even had a selection of pizzas. We ordered 2 entrees, 2 mains and 2 desserts and both of us were very happy with our orders. They were promptly brought to our table. They were very well presented. They were generous portions and most importantly, they were delicious. If you're in the region and looking for a lovely spot to have lunch or dinner, I definitely recommend Ragu&Co.

The only place I could book on Easter weekend. The staff was attentive but the fish was overcooked. They only have very few local wines on the menu. Incredibly, I was charged $5 for still water, not even mineral. Never seen this before.

Our experience here was excellent throughout. The communication beforehand was effective. We were greeted warmly and even though we were quite early, the restaurant was already humming as the guests filled it. The maitre’d, Priscilla, was charming and cheerful and our waitress, Maddie, was so friendly and helpful. The food and wine were excellent. The Arancini were absolutely delicious as was the white pizza. The whole atmosphere was welcoming and everyone around seemed to be very cheerful and content. We were so pleased we had booked ahead. Don’t visit Clare without trying this restaurant.

This restaurant offers much more than its "Pizzeria" description implies to most Australians. Although it is family-friendly and does serve pizza, it is also able to provide a romantic dinner for couples or a sophisticated wine-matched business dinner. The staff are knowledgeable, the food is very, very good and the prices are moderate. My husband and I recommend the fungho fritto and the arancini for starters and the duck pasta (the star, yum) and gnocchi with mussels for mains. There are wines available by the glass, which means you can match your wine with your food choices and a very capable sommelier is close at hand to help you choose.

My partner and I dine here quite regularly and ate here again tonight. The food is of the highest quality. The service is impeccable and the restaurant has a wonderful vibe with Italian music in the background. Would recommend for any visit to the Clare Valley. As a local I adore this restaurant and thoroughly enjoy the authenticity of the food and wine list. It's easily the best Italian I have had out of Italy!!!

We were 20 cyclists and support crew and we dined at Ragu on the second night of our bike tour of the SA Wine regions. We had a set menu for food and looked after our own drinks and coffees. The Italian style food was plentiful and delicious and kept on coming till we could not eat anymore. The staff were very helpful and ensured that those of us with allergies received the food that we could eat. This was done very well for such a large number of people sitting around one, long table. I was hanging out for a flat white coffee after a fairly coffee free day and asked for a quick coffee before dinner. This was their one let down as the coffee did not arrive until well after everyone had received their wines, beers, plus some food.

Absolutely brilliant! We were greeted like old friends by Priscilla, even though this was our first visit. Priscilla then took time to explain the history of the beautiful building before giving a detailed explanation of the menu, going on to suggest a wine pairing (which was so good, we found the winery today and brought more wine) The food was so good, it was authentic Italian and was like being given a big foody cuddle of deliciousness!

We were greeted warmly and given a small glass of wine on arrival. A nice touch. One of our group ordered two entrees. Two of us decided to wait for our mains so we could eat together. Big mistake. We waited for over an hour! I had swordfish which was swamped with a tomato, olive sauce. The fish was practically raw and uninspiring. One of our group had baby octopus ehich was covered in the same sauce without the olives. A plate of broccolini was dressed with slivered almonds and an unfortunate addition of hommous. A mix of cultures here that didn't appeal. The ambience was lovely as were the staff. A pity the food wasn't up to standard.

One of the best restaurants in Clare. The staff is wonderful- warm, welcoming and so efficient. A great team. The food here is so good, and generous servings. The arancini balls were delicious and my spaghetti bolognaise was next level with a fabulous umami sauce. Can’t fault it.

8 of us arrived at Ragu at 7pm feeling quite hungry. We quickly placed our order & then waited until 8.50 pm for some food to arrive. If you are hungry, I suggest having something to eat BEFORE you go to Ragu.

Celebrating a significant event, we felt welcomed, our questions were explained, wines suggested and the waitress attentive without being too obvious. A lovely location with beautiful food and wines to match. A lovely way to spend the evening with the bonus of meeting some lovely visitors to the area.

We had a fabulous experience at this newish authentic Italian restaurant. Perfect ragu pared with equally delicious Italian wine. Maddie, our waitress, was attentive and knowledgeable- she seemed to genuinely want us to have a great experience. Don’t miss this when in Clare!

We were incredibly fortunate to have selected Ragu and Co. 'randomly' out of the Clare tourism magazine. IMO the best Italian restaurant I have enjoyed in my 65 years on this planet. I had the Maccherone, my wife had the black ink Spaghetti, while our friends had the seafood risotto and a selection of starters - and all were superb!! So good my wife and I came back the next day to try the Risotto which our friends had raved about. The service both nights was impeccable - we couldn't recommend more highly!
