The best fish and chips and jumbo prawns ever. You have to go here if you love seafood. The prawns are the best you will find and the fish of the day... often incredibly fresh.

Seafood but could barely see the fish!! Has to be one of word meals I have had in Qld. I ordered the whiting which 4 tiny pieces were served that nicely crumbed however the crumbs outweighed the fish of which estimated would’ve totaled 30 to...40 grams for the meal. As a result of almost no fish in the meal the result was no flavor and 0 enjoyment. Keep your money in your pocket and spend it elsewhere.More
Visited on Wednesday 14th June. Purchased the fisherman's basket, not the normal selection of seafood but adequate for price paid.
We are locals who have been eating fish and chips here for over 15 years. I have always rated this place as consistently great. However, our visit this week was really disappointing. Has it changed hands? Don’t know but I can tell you the quality...of the barramundi was poor, the fish and the potato cakes were greasy and terrible. The tartare sauce was curdled. We are searching for a new regular now. Totally disappointing.More
Been going here for over 35 yrs, always looked forward to it, never again !!! Visited twice in the last week. 1st visit: crumbed and battered fish was burnt, also the calamari, all very dry. 2nd visit: Snapper was tasteless, Prawns had been frozen, paid...top dollar for oysters supposed to be fresh not bottled, weren’t even attached to the shell. Calamari wasn’t to bad. So after 35 yrs it’s time to look elsewhere, as the quality and quantity here has greatly demonised. No recommendations any more!!! Very sad !!!More
Went in looking for prawns but too dear and only tigers not mooloolaba so got those elsewhere but ordered the "Pack for 2". Cod was perfectly cooked, no dry bits at all, calimari so fresh and tasty, the biggest juiciest prawn I've ever had as...a cutlet, and it didn't just come with chips, but the finishing touches that complete a meal like this: tub of tartare, plenty of lemon slices. We thoroughly enjoyed hubby's birthday picnic at the beach and the food was first class.More
We have been eating at Fisheries on the Spit for about 20 years now. It has been consistently good for all of that time. It is a casual eatery, with plenty of outdoor tables and chairs. The batter on our cod was light and fluffy...and the calamari cooked just as it should be. The servings were generous and the cod and calamari was all that we needed. They do have salads and other fresh and cooked seafood. We are happy to recommend.More
Our meal was rather disappointing smallish fish quite tasty tho, chips were not nice...why don't chippys stop buying in bulk and make chips from a potato? Tomato sauce $1.50 for a small tub of the cheapest tomato sauce ever...Made it all taste unpleasant. There used...to be a great restaurant around the corner but since covid it seems to have disappeared leaving only the very best one ...but that has long queues and is a couple dollars more for everything...prob worth it tho! Upstairs seating scruffy.More
Used to have great fish and chips but now very disappointing. Orange Roughie was good, flathead was dry and the flake was inedible! Tough, grey and tasteless! Even other sharks would reject it! OK maybe the chips would be good? No almost inedible as well!...Tasted like day old chips reheated in a microwave. Yeah that good!More
Have been here a number of times when visiting Sunshine Coast. Ordered about $165 worth of seafood including 2 spanned crabs, 4 bugs, 1.5kgs of prawns, mussels and seafood sauce. Asked the guy if he could cut up the crab and bugs. No problems at...all. Watched as he meticulously cut up and cleaned all crustaceans with the precision of a 3 hatted chef. Excellent work, and I told him so. Then went back to the apartment and had a feast of fresh and tasty seafood.More
After being locked out of Australia for 2 years, we are back on the coast. This was one of the first treats we gave ourselves. If the food was great before, it is superb now! We ordered barramundi and potato scallops. Absolutely delicious! Light batter,...crispy and good serving sizes. Highly recommended!More
Arrived early at 4.30pm to avoid the lines and get a table, still a fair few people eating. Ordered the snapper, calamari, chips and a potato scallop. Fish and calamari were delicious. Chips and scallop were ok. Nice aioli. Overall very good value for money...considering the price.More
Part of the reason we use Mooloolaba as a stopover , is that it’s a great port for fresh seafood. Fisheries on the spit is a must do and all others fail in comparison. The staff will clean and cut your Moreton bay bugs for...you so you can add on to their quality fish and chips. You know that it’s good when even their fish bites are made of snapper, trevally or whatever decent fish is on. The chips are the old school fat chunky ones and all fried products are cooked to perfection with no oily aftertaste. There’s usually plenty of seating in the shade or sun and it’s always a highlight of the trip visiting here!More
We always return to the Fisheries to buy our fresh seafood and fish. Prawns are always the best. Crabs large, fresh and delicious. Oysters probably the biggest and freshest we have ever had in the area. Large selection of 'wet' fish: the ocean trout particularly...good value. We could not fault and highly recommendMore
Super friendly staff. Fast service. Delicious local seafood, traditional Aussie fish and chips. Great local Mooloolaba seafood (awesome prawns). Car park can be tight/hard to get a spot, but generally parking nearby. Seating upstairs, with a view towards the Mooloolaba beach and canals.
