Excellent location with views over the water. Fine dining style, excellent table service and the food was excellent both in presentation and taste, fancy but not too fancy, we knew what we were eating. Hubby had a steak that came with pate, crispy and flaky...pastry and mushrooms, with rich beef gravy on the side. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection. I had roasted egg plant filled with hummus and broccolini as a side with roasted sweet nut mix. The dessert was a chocolate plate( ice cream, truffles, mousse) just so delicious and another plate of sweets made of blood orange pana cotta, mousse, custard. The desserts were excellent in their own right and not just an after thought tagged on at the end of the menu. The menu is varied and would satisfied most discerning palates. This restaurant would be a perfect venue for a romantic or special occasion, prices are fair taking into account the location and the quality of the produce on offer and the chef’s expertise and creative talent. Service table is on point. So a 5 star rating is well deserved 🙂More

Great place for a god lunch or dinner. It overlooks the northern aspect of the Pumicestone passage. Very warm and welcoming. Lovely environment and good looking menu. The tables are set as one would expect to find in a silver service restaurant and Tides certainly...has a long standing reputation for its seafood. The service was friendly and we were not kept waiting. We had the "Tides fresh grilled Australian seafood made up of Northern Territory Barramundi, fish of the day (Dory), 3 Mooloolaba prawns, 2 oysters natural, and 3 x ½ shell Tasmanian scallops. The seafood was beautifully cooked and served. it all tasted well with a great balance of taste between the dishes. Desert was a lemon cake with a lemon sorbet, meringue and curd. Again the tastes were well balanced just the right amount to complete a delightful dinner. I would say that the earlier part of this TripAdvisor information on Tides is a bit inaccurate. The site suggests that cost is up to about $33. In reality the fresh grilled Australian seafood was $72 per head and there are plenty of other dishes that exceed the $33 mentioned, such as the 200gm eye fillet at $58, Tomato braised Barra at $49, 300gm Chicken supreme at $42 etc. This needs to be corrected.More

Friendly personal service from the owner. He knows the menu well and treats each guest as a VIP. The crocodile and kangaroo are excellent. Many restaurants don’t cook these dishes well, but Tides di a fabulous job of each. Tender and flavoursome.

Main courses were very disappointing. Seafood chowder was tasteless and had way too much potato and carrot. Two of our group had combination seafood and fish meal. For the cost also disappointing.

Beautiful meal. Relaxed, friendly service. Staff happy to double check meals were gluten free versus coeliac suitable. After I forgot to specify the GFO option for dessert, staff offered to arrange a complete replacement at no additional charge as soon as my wife realised what...I had done.More

Sadly I have to agree with the numerous disappointed diners that have recently offered poor reviews. I wasn't keen to try the seafood tower ($185 for two people) but my mate was keen so I reluctantly agreed. One positive aspect was that there was ample...food to be shared. Of the seafood presented the salt and pepper calamari was the standout and maybe that was helped as I ate most of that first whilst still reasonably warm. Therein lies one of the problems with this meal. Of the 7 plates only one was 'fresh seafood' that being the oysters. Needless to say, the other plates (cooked barramundi, salmon, prawns, scallops, mussels, calamari) quickly cooled upon arrival and this detracted from the experience. Unfortunately the scallops were small and covered with some type of mousse which rendered them tasteless. The Humpty Doo Barramundi was squishy, and the grilled prawns were sadly overcooked. The mussels were actually quite tasty but unfortunately cold by the time we got to eat them. I offer the following suggestions to the chef/owner: You have the trawlers moored 7 km away so why not load you tower with fresh local seafood. Why have Humpty Doo Barra and Salmon when you could have local Pearl Perch and Sweetlip or Parrot? This would improve your meal markedly. Ditch the mousse covered scallops and simply brush the scallops with a little melted butter, season with a little salt and pepper and quickly grill. Let the seafood be the star! Axe the grilled prawns and simply offer 6 large fresh Mooloolaba prawns. 'Tides' is marketed as Caloundra's top restaurant and priced accordingly. My advice is if you want a really good meal, try Acqa, Three or Amici's. The quality and price will be much more palatable.More

I went with high expectations and was very disappointed with my meal. I had the lamb rump which when served was barely warm. The waitress had it reheated when I mentioned it as being not hot enough at all. I think the flavour of the...food on the plate was very ordinary. Definitely wasn’t worth the price. I enjoy the pub meals at our local pub a lot more! The staff were very nice and friendly though. I doubt I will go back to this restaurant again.More

First of all, this is not my usual restaurant dining experience. But since it was a birthday and we had out of towners we might try this place as have heard a lot of feedback about it, fortunately all good. From the moment on entry,...we were made to feel special by just a friendly smile, welcome. Not too hard to do but mostly missed on entry to any restaurant now days. Our serving staff were exceptional. Jack who tended to us was first class and Andrew who I believe was Maitre D'hotel and Sommelier made we wine dummies feel good and made us laugh without making us look like idiots due to our lack of wine knowledge. He knows his stuff and suggests excellent choices. The staff where so much fun (no stuffiness here) we were actually the last to leave before the dinner service. It was that relaxed. Starters we had clams in the shell, Dori, fillet steak, fish and chicken (apologies for incorrect labeling of dishes) Just delicious and well presented. All in all, a first-class experience made possible by the in-house staff, delicious food and relaxed atmosphere. We will be back!More

Although the food was very nice and the staff friendly we had to constantly ask for glasses to be refilled, plates to be cleared, glasses to be cleared. We had to get up and get drinks that had been sitting on the bar on one...Occasion. When the specials were read out no pricing was given and we were shocked when we recieved the bill to see the price. The staff need to be aware of the customer and spend less time talking to each other.More
