Went for dinner last night in party of 2, managed to get a seat fine and the initial service by the older gent waiter was quite good. Disappointing that they do not have Bundaberg Rum so settled for a Mojito which was quite good. We had our order taken fairly promply by the same waiter and after more than 25mins another young lady came by and confirmed that someone took our order. After confirming (actually reordering) with her we had to wait another 15mins for it to be 'rushed' through. Upon asking her a few mins later, she confirmed that the order wasn't put through at the kitchen. We ordered one more drink, and then got the bill, and not one person offered a complimentary drink or anything for the stuff, found this poor and probably just expect that the reasoning that they will fill the seat with someone else next time to be given. Haven't ever had that issue at the Pavillion upstairs on many visits to that so will be mindful next time going to Rick Shores.

Good place to have a nice bite and look at the sea. The food is tailored to the more sophisticated diner. They have some small plates 1-bite size, medium plates to share and mains for sharing. Wine list extensive and good cocktail list. Not 5 stars as they aim towards fine dining however the setting is quite crowded and the service a bit off. However would return.

We managed to get a table in the most fabulous position. It was if we were almost on the beach. For a Monday lunchtime the restaurant was packed. Our starter of oysters natural was good, very fresh. One of our group ordered sashimi and we were told that as it was a dish that didn’t need to be cooked it would arrive before our mains. Alas not so. It finally arrived after two queries to staff when the mains had been eaten. So disappointing as sashimi is a starter rather than a dessert. Not overly happy

We placed an online pre-paid order from the link on their website at 4:50pm Thursday week ago for 7pm pickup. We arrived at 6:45pm and messaged if they could bring our order to our car when ready. At 7pm we received a message to say our our order was cancelled. I went to the counter and they said they had issues with their online ordering system and they are now out of food, so we’ll have to get dinner elsewhere. Quite annoying when we just watched people ordering while we were waiting. They apologised and took my details and said they would call in the coming days to make up for it. No contact a week and a half later. Won’t be in a hurry to support them when they open back up properly, plenty of other more deserving restaurants that appreciate their loyal customers to support instead.

As a RickShores regular, I was excited to introduce two foodie friends to it for dinner recently. In these covid days, submission to the fixed price, fixed menu was required. The menu contained the exceptional bug rolls, as well as other delicious items. We dined late, due to to other commitments that day. The restaurant was full with diners in various stages of working their way through the menu. Being three hungry lads, we quickly ordered a cocktail each and a bottle of wine to follow. More on this later. There was a "special" available. fresh truffle for a significant surcharge. We declined. The first three courses appeared at warp speed and well before the cocktails were delivered. As I said, we were three hungry lads. The portion size was, less than generous. More attempted upsell on the ridiculously priced truffle. It had been a very busy week and with the prospect of a public holiday Friday ahead, we were in for a leisurely and delicious meal. I prefer a cocktail to peruse the menu with; the fixed menu made that unattainable. I simply do not like drinking cocktails with food. When queried about the wine, our waiter said he would bring it. About 25 minutes later it arrived. We were about 75% of the way through our meal, by that stage. As always, the food was ambrosial but the portions were not enough for three. They would have been adequate, but not generous in size for two. I happened to notice that a duo who came in after us were served at a more suitable speed and appeared to be given the same sized portions as my trio. Perspective could have distorted by view, of course. I do hope that this lapse is an aberration rather than the new normal. 5/10

View, amazing! Service is energetic and the food was good for the first 4courses, and then it all got a bit lost from there. The beef cheek dish just doesn’t eat well, it shouldn’t be on the menu. I’ve read other reviews stating this also, the beef is tasteless and watery. There is plenty of food though and we couldn’t eat all of it. Nice wine list, and cocktails. I hated the bulky heavy cutlery, of which you have to keep the same set for the entire 10 course meal, and during CV-19 restrictions this seemed odd. The staff would pick up your dirty cutlery after each course and place it back down on the table. It would have been better just to stick with the chopsticks. The decor is slick and modern and Rick Shores is most certainly the place to be seen! The view is the best part of this dining experience, and well worth a visit.

The setting and service were Wow, but the serving size of my $23 Asian warm pork salad was small. The sauce was delicious but the pork looked like sliced, processed pork from the local deli. Disappointing.

I had booked to go on my anniversary and was told there wasn’t a last minute table but I could walk in and sit at a “bench-top”. I decided to book a couple of nights later. When I arrived I was STILL seated at a bench-top. Was strange to hear others chatting! I’m out a few times a week and now that you have places like Little Itoshin, Cocotte, 19 and now Las Palmas you better be on your A game. Too many restaurants come and go if not. The food was alright. The starters were tiny but good. Why you put good quality lamb (if it was) in a hot curry sauce is beyond me. It may be a bit more expensive but if you’re charging $90 for a meal it’s probably wise to have a seafood main and not have people in swimming gear and ripped shirts at tables while sticking ones with reservations on a bench. The Gold Coast is too small for that and what works in Brisbane may easily not on the beach. Diners are getting too sophisticated here to be treated like the restaurant is doing them a favour by letting them in there. Too many better places to pick from. A positive was an American waitress who was very good and I think the dumplings could compete with the top places. Not so for the duck! Anyway, I wish them well, but wasn’t overly happy with the evening.

My friend of 35yrs took me to Rick Shores today for lunch for my birthday. I had read rave reviews on it a year ago so my expectations were high. What a dissapointment! From the moment we sat down; *My wine glass had a stain on it. *When my wine arrived there was something floating in it. *The Green Curry was sickly sweet and the so called King prawns in it were tiny. Then came dessert; *We got 2 tiny squares of poppyseed cake 3cm x 3cm cubes on our plate with a sheep's milk yoghurt quill on a smear of lemon curd. *To top it off to my disgust the poppyseed cake was stale!! I know my cakes well as I'm a pastry chef's daughter. I certainly won't be going back there again! How they are so busy tells me that most people don't know what they're eating!

We went here for the second time just for the entree of Moreton Bay Bug roll. Four of us had them and they were just as good as the first time here 6 months ago. We followed this up with share plates of smoked salmon, pork belly and a aromatic slaw salad. All was very good. The first two choices of wine were not available which was surprising for a hatted restaurant. We had an issue with one food dish, however, the staff handled this issue superbly and I could not fault the customer service.

We were recommended this place as something special but we were quite disappointed. OK so it is on the beach and has great views but we were there in the evening. The menu is different but it is not cheap The menu is a bit limited and the portions were small. Our waitress was excellent but the greeter was a bit pushy.

A recent return to Rick Shores with some new 'tastes' proved that this restaurant continues its quality of food and service. The Ricks Martini hit the spot to start the evening off and it just got better! A selection of bugs, lamb, curry, oysters and the octopus were choices for our party of 4 and not a complaint! Those Bugs are to die for. Always a buzz going on but not overpowering noise level and the view is one in a million. Service is excellent and very personalized! Cant wait to return!

We've been here twice this week and are going back for dinner tomorrow night. The views are spectacular, the service is great - friendly and professional. We had the 'feed me' option which at $80pp doesn't sound cheap, but it's well worth it with the exception of the pipi course, which doesn't really work. Thoroughly recommend Rick Shores.

We searched for a good asian fusion restaurant and were not disappointed in this place. Food was divine! Oysters with Thai vinegrette and madras lamb were our highlights. Service was absolutely outstanding. We ordered the octopus and it was a tad chewy, we didn’t eat it, the waiter picked up on this without us saying a word and came back to tell us when he cleared the plate he checked and thoight it was chewy so removed from our bill. How is that for service.

I had been told to try Rick Shores for lunch and booked for five of us to try their food and location. My group was a little late in arriving and although I had had several reminders from the restaurant to be on time or to face financial penalties, the staff were warm, welcoming and apparently carefree. At no stage did we feel pressured or pressed for time. The menu offered a tasting array of eleven superb dishes ranging from cured Ora King Salmon to BBQ quail, beef cheeks and a cumquat pavlova. Only one of the eleven dishes was rated by us as slightly lower than a "10". We had a couple of great bottles of Riesling and service was unfailingly polite, warm and attentive. And of course the superb beach-front views are good enough even if they only served baked beans on toast. This is a place and a service and a variety of food to make an effort for. Wonderful.
