I had forgotten mother’s day for my beloved partner Renee. Her daughter was in the kitchen cooking up crepes when I hatched the idea I would surprise her with lunch from her favourite restaurant in the blue mountains. I ordered her an egg and bacon roll and their famous flower pot scone. Additionally I ordered two beef burgers and a kale soup and a smoothie for myself and her kids. The food was ordered via facebook messenger and picked up in durable environmentally friendly cardboard boxes, piping hot, and dressed to impressed right on time. The staff were friendly. My partner loved her roll and particularly enjoyed the scone which she described as the best she’s ever had. I regard myself as a connoisseur of fine burgers. I’ve had the best in the world and their burger ranks right up there. The bun was of the perfect consistency and tasted sweet. The condiments were fresh and crispy. The interplay between the bread, condiments, golden melted cheese and sauces and the wonderful firm consistency of the perfectly cooked meat patty coalesced into a harmonious flavourful treat. Every bite full was consistently superb I alternated bites of the burger with their crisp perfectly salted medium consistency fries. A glass of cold sparkling water with lime was the perfect companion to wash down this beautiful gift of tasty food Well done Wayzgoose!!! You’ll be seeing my burger loving mug back at your establishment very soon!!!!

Went here a week ago as I was in the Mountains and wanted a Devonshire tea. Many places still closed and the reviews for flower pot scones were good. The scones themselves were fantastic and are great served in a terracotta pot. They could be improved if served with better quality jam and fresh thick cream not the whipped cream from a tin. Cafe furniture very tired inside and needs a definite update.

Hi, thanks for the feedback on our scones - we take great pride in them and they have been made to the same recipe since 1982, including the same traditional jam and the freshly whipped cream (not tinned cream) that we serve it with - we would never use tinned cream. Our cafe is a little tired as we are in the oldest commercial building in Leura, built in 1902, and have spent the past few years fighting to save the building from demolition/redevelopment , we do what we can with the space, but a huge financial commitment with an uncertain future is impossible and would be unwise. We are all working very hard in these difficult times to make our little diner a welcoming and enjoyable place to visit.

I decamped from Leura Deli where the service was very ordinary and had a lovely coffee with a great selection of yummy cakes here at Wayzgoose Cafe. The service was pleasant and I did not have to wait long at all. Definitely a worthwhile alternative to Leura Deli!

Decided to go here because the vego options sounded great and was the only venue in the entire of Leura practicing social distancing. Discussed leaving a decent tip because of this after ordering, but then waited nearly 40 minutes (while staring out the window at a table that hadn't been cleared since before we arrived) for a lukewarm lasagne and 'salad' which consisted of a single lettuce leaf, three julliene carrot sticks and barely a wedge of tomato and a serve of fritters which the best thing about was the fact they were steaming out of the microwave and came with sour cream and relish. After patiently waiting half an hour we asked how much longer the wait would be, to which we were told it's the next order up by a server with a mouthful of food. Proceeded to watch the lasagne sit on the pass for minutes before it was served to me, with no concern or urgency about the wait time when it was delivered to our table. After sitting with our meals for barely a few minutes and coming to the conclusion it was pretty unappetizing, the staff member behind the counter glanced over at our uneaten meals and simply started tallying the bill without asking how anything was. We then mentioned we weren't super happy about paying full price for our disappointing and uneaten meals, to which the staff member begrudgingly said "I'll take a bit off if that's how you feel", and by our calculations remembering the prices from the menu, our discount equated to about a bottle of drink from the fridge. Whilst this review may seem a little harsh, we both have careers in hospitality and completely understand that now is the time to be more diligent than ever when it comes to quality and service and are pretty frustrated by our experience today. Won't be back.

We ordered the fish and chips and the scones. The fish and chips was $20 per serve for a few small pieces of fish and a small pile of chips. No salad. Tartare sauce was very runny. Cheap quality for a high price. The scones were these weird tall things served in a mini flower pot, so it was more like a muffin shape. The bottom half was very dry. The cream looked like it came out of a spray can and the jam was again very runny. Very disappointing.

My Mother and I came here recently. After being seated My Mother pointed out how filthy the floors were, I looked down and they were really dirty but we decided to ignore it. My Mother ordered a ham and cheese toasted sandwich and I ordered a burger and fries, I asked for my burger to not have sauce on it. Our food came out and my burger had sauce on it which I pointed out to the waiter, he apologised and said he would have the kitchen make me a new one. My Mother bit into her sandwhich and said it was disgustingly greasy which I could tell as her hands were dripping with grease, no cutlery was given to us so My Mother had to go and get someone to get cutlery so she could eat her salad. My burger came, it was extremely average and the burger patty was quite clearly a microwaved burger patty and the chips on my plate were lukewarm so they were quite clearly the same chips from my original burger. As we ate our food we saw a woman presumable the chef come out to a freezer and grab something out of it, the freezer was filled with bags of frozen food which I found quite disgusting. We finished up and went to pay, my Mother informed the waitress a young girl that the food was quite disappointing and that it would have been nice if they had at least given me some fresh chips. The girl was extremely rude and unapologetic saying that they “don’t normally make burgers without sauce”. Easily the worst place either of us have ever eaten at

Hi, I was expecting a bad review from you - my staff had pre warned me that they had an ‘incredibly rude and unreasonable’ customer in on the weekend and they explained the situation to me. I was told that yes, they accidentally put sauce on the kids burger (for under 12’s usually but ordered for an older teenager), but that they remade the burger as soon as possible - they also told me that the entire meal was then eaten and that your mother then expected to receive the meal for free. The burgers are made with the best quality meat provided by our local butcher shop and they are cooked fresh when ordered. I am aware that you - or your mother - yelled at and abused my staff and when I arrived in the diner shortly after you left they were actually quite shaken by the experience. I have 100% trust in my wonderful team who work for me , and we are always happy to try to fix any issues that arise, but we do not tolerate abuse from customers.

What seemed like a promising breakfast experience turned out to be somewhat disappointing. I ordered the hot cakes stack from the menu (suppose to come with maple syrup and a serving of whipped cream) and received Banana hot cakes poured with honey and whole walnuts (apparently the hot cakes special from the board) and no whipped cream. My husband ordered the big mountain breakfast which was half cold and the baked beans tasted like they were just microwaved from the can. The hot chocolate and coffee were good. We weren’t asked how our meal was when we paid. The waiter had no personality and didn’t know how to give me a tax invoice??? Unfortunately we won’t be coming back.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Our Hotcakes are not listed as being served with maple syrup and cream, the menu says ‘see specials board’ for today’s variety - the specials board had the banana Hotcakes with walnuts & honey clearly written up. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the big breakfast - we would have happily helped to amend any issues had you brought it up while you were in the diner.

3 of us placed an order here today , my colleagues pie went in bin after one bite as too oily and very sweet tomato flavour . My other colleague had the lasagne that she said was dry and salad oily with no flavour My soup was basically a cup of kale , the flavour however was quite nice , if it had been blended would have been lovely , also ended in bin . I hate giving negative review but felt the need on this occasion .

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your meals - in future before leaving a bad review perhaps approach the cafe so they can make amendments. I don’t know what you mean about the pie tasting like tomato as they don’t contain tomato! Business are struggling lately, after bushfires, floods and now COVID19 and we have all had to adapt enormously to stay afloat - negative reviews are damaging and not really necessary - we would have happily discussed this with you in person to come to a better outcome.

Pretty ordinary cafe with friendly staff ok coffee and awful food. Ordered a Reuben sandwich and Corn fritters for lunch yesterday which both were awful - sandwich had one small slice of pastrami and some ‘tasty’ (not) cheese and a soggy Turkish bread. Corn fritters were saturated in oil, rubbery and flaccid.

Very disappointing and overpriced. About half of the menu items we selected weren’t available (eg:only 2 out of the 5 or 6 burgers, no onion rings, no fried pickles etc) and we were only advised this once we had ordered and the waitress came back to tell us. The hamburger was smaller than what you would usually expect from a cafe/restaurant and came with a very small handful of overcooked fries- for $25, not worth it. The table next to us complained that they still hadn’t received their child’s meal and they were advised it was because the restaurant was full so the kitchen couldn’t keep up. We were told takeaway coffee wasn’t available for the same reason. I had to ask at the counter to see the bill before we paid and sure enough, items that were not available had been charged anyway. Love supporting the local small businesses but definitely won’t be back.

It was sad to see how bad it’s become. We waited quite a while after ordering our food. We ordered sandwiches, coffee then also paid for their traditional flowerpot scones as a treat for after lunch. Sad to have the scones come out first, then the not so nice coffees (cold) then the toasted sandwiches which were not very nice either. The whole experience was very disappointing, and to add to it, the scones were rocks and inedible. I’m so sorry but had to be said.

We have been to the Wayzgoose a number of times over the years and we were pleasantly surprised to see the recent decor revamp. The staff were very busy but friendly and efficient, and the food was good and the coffee great. Happy to see that they still have a good range of kids meals on offer, including a simple kid-friendly pumpkin soup and toast.

Staff obliging and good eye contact. Plain chicken sandwich fair, but coffee poor quality. I sat next to chest freezer and noted chef getting frozen calamari rings without gloves and food bags not properly sealed. I’m unlikely to go there again.

Customer service was great - friendly, prompt, informative. We had tea and cake - very much a home made feel and neither the carrot cake or caramel pie were too sweet. Both enjoyable and overall as expected. Comfortable, retro decor and clean inside.

Staff friendly but terrible food. Ordered corn fritters which were rubbery, saturated in oil, flacid and tasteless and Reuben sandwich was awful, had one thin slice of pastrami, a slice of tasty cheese and came in a soggy Turkish bread. Side salad was a Few leaves of lettuce soaked in dressing.
