It's hard to find words to describe this dining experience. Put it this way, if this restaurant was located in a capital city it would be famous. As it's been in Jindy for 20 years it is well known there, but wow what a find for the uninitiated.
Bookings are utterly essential. It's tiny and you need to plan ahead for this experience. This is a husband and wife team and the attention to detail in the food is incredible. The service is outstanding and the timing between sitting down, orders being taken and the dishes arriving at the table is spot on.
The flavours, though not totally unusual to the Australian palate, are quite different to what you will find in other middle eastern cuisines. The food was described to me by the chef as taking in flavours from Turkey to India, but these dishes are not curries. They are utterly sublime and delicious with delicate flavours shining through but not overwhelming each other. Even the trio of dips was different and exciting to the palate.
On chatting with Kerrie we asked her why would an Aussie girl and Iranian guy set up such a restaurant in Jindabyne. The answer is that her husband was once the National Iranian ski champion. Wow. Jindabyne is lucky they decided to put up their shingle here. Do not miss this one and bring your cash as credit cards are not accepted.

My wife and I booked a table for our anniversary dinner after reading all the great reviews and We were not disappointed. In fact I would say it was worth the trip from Canberra just to eat here.
The atmosphere of the small space is well suited to the dining experience. The husband and wife team did a great job keeping the food service going considering the restaurant was full and we did not feel like we had to wait long for any of our food. The chef personnaly served several of our dishes and explained the ingredients of the dishes to us.
Each dish we tried was delicate and full of flavour, no overpowering spices. I recommend the goat highly but everything we ate was delicious. The level of effort the chef puts into each meal is evident and shines a light on how amazing Persian food can be.
We will certainly visit again

Two entrees, four mains, excellent service, great atmosphere, delicious food - did I mention the double serving, melt in your mouth, lamb shanks; all dishes at a very, very reasonable price. BYO, minimal corkage.
Great to see all who packed the Cafe enjoying the Easter break. A most enjoyable evening. All four of us will go back again.

I am kicking myself for not trying this place any earlier!! It is one of the best restaurants in Jindabyne (by a country mile).
We had a variety of entrees and mains, each as delicious as the other! The flavours are incredibly authentic and you can tell a lot of love goes into preparing the meals.
As it is a smaller venue, the ambiance is warm and inviting (thanks to the fabulous owners) - whilst still providing privacy for your dining party.
I can’t recommend it enough!

The food was simply fantastic. The husband and wife team who run the Cafe are super nice and prepared the food with much love and care. My family had chicken, lamb and beef as mains and all were very yummy. The spices and flavour make the food top quality and the atmosphere is very cosy good for any time of year. The price is also very very reasonable especially for BYO. Make sure you book before dining as tables are limited.

We had dinner at Cafe Darya this evening and experienced the flavoursome food served.
The flavours are very subtle and you need to eat slowly to enjoy the flavour develop in your mouth.
Kerrie is very pleasant and her partner works hard in the kitchen to ensure you experience authentic food.

They're trying their hardest to provide food from the takeaway menu and it's definitely worth the effort.
Strongly suggest you give this little cafe a try when you're next in Jindabyne. It's a standout in this town.

I’m a foodie person and going to lots of restaurants specially Persian restaurant, food and flavour in darya cafe is totally special and different than others. I really loved it and chef is amazing. Nice place and cozy place.

Kerrie and her husband run the best Persian restaurant we have been to. Amazing flavours in all the dishes we tried, especially loved the camel and lamb shanks for the mains. Great place to share and try lots of food together. BYO. Don't cancel as place is small and needs customers each night! Enoy and thank you to the wonderful chefs.

This restaurant is one of a kind, and a very special dining experience.
The cooking and service is all undertaken by a couple, and being a popular restaurant, do not expect fast food. The food isn’t fast - it’s delicious and chances are you will not have dined on Persian food as authentic as this. We went on successive nights and loved everything we tried. I recommend the whole 3 courses. We are not adventurous, and stuck with the chicken, prawns, beef and vegetarian and everything was memorable. These are family recipes cooked with love and pride. Make sure you spent time on your meal and savour it. It’s BYO with a small corkage which is a bonus. Sublime!

I stay at Jindabyne for the skiing, or in summer, the hiking, but not for have the fine dining - but no longer! I’ve discovered Darya Persian restaurant and the food was superb. Beautiful and different flavours. Our group each tried a different dish, and they were all different, but each was lovely. It’s only a small restaurant but all the tables filled up within minutes of the doors opening. We thought we might be waiting a while, but the service was prompt and attentive - highly recommended but make sure to book.

A friend had recommended the zucchini starter which we shared, along with olives and goats cheese, and it was all delicious.
We chose the camel and goat mains as we were looking to try something we wouldn't normally have at home and they were both amazing.
Be sure to ask about their sweet treats - we tried a couple with some Persian tea which was the perfect finish to a brilliant dining experience.

We enjoyed a lovely evening, eating authentic Persian food, home cooked by the owner and served by his wife. The restaurant is very small and numerous people were turned away while we were there, so make sure that you book! Fresh and delicious food at a very reasonable price. Make sure you BYO wine.

WOW WOW WOW!!! What a hidden gem! Do yourself a favour and visit this place if you are ever in Jindabyne. We were absolutely blown away by this gorgeous, homely little gem. Kerrie and her husband are absolutely the real deal. The food is awesome, the atmosphere is brilliant and the experience is quite unique. If you are wanting a quick slap dash in and out gut filling experience then get pizza but if you want a dining experience do yourself a favour and visit this place. We thoroughly enjoyed going to a restaurant where we were not rushed and were able to savour the gorgeous food as well as enjoy the company of our fellow guests whilst experiencing the hospitality of the hosts. The food is fabulous and unique and freshly prepared. Thank you Kerrie & Reza , you are awesome, your restaurant deserves to be no 1 in Jindabyne and anyone who visits Jindabyne and doesn’t get to Cafe Darya is missing out big time!!!

Kerrie and Reza are excellent small restaurant hosts. The meal and service was amazing, the Camel dish, simply sublime and the Lamb Shanks with Wild Lime, again to die for.
What a fantastic menu of Eastern food to choose from, Camel, Lamb, Duck, Goat etc etc. The menu is not huge, but the offerings for Entre and Mains are simply awesome.
With Covid affecting so many small restaurants, the 'Cafe Darya' offer both eat in and take-away,
Don't be afraid of something different, be a little brave and give Cafe Darya a go next time your in Jindabyne you will not be disappointed!
