We ate at Takayama twice during our stay in Jindabyne. The food was really tasty. Standout dishes were the Japanese fried chicken and the pork gyoza. The edamame, wakame, and silken tofu were really good too. Portion sizes were reasonable. We will definitely visit again...More

Was very pleased with how close the food tasted to the same food I have eaten in Japan. I wish the service was faster. When we reserved the table two weeks in advance and were told it was only for two hours. The food took...More

Closest thing to a genuine izakaya I've found in Oz. They use excellent ingredients... meats direct from local farmers, real wasabi shipped up from, Tasmania, and so on. Chef has worked in Japan for years and has managed to keep many Japanese textures, flavours and...More

Really great night and lovely food. We shared edamame, pork gyoza and corn balls. All were delicious and my partner also had scallops which he said were yummy. I had the gingerita cocktail and then the Mountain lychee. Both were fantastic, however the Mountain Lychee...More

Food was really tasty and the flavours well balanced. Good service, reasonable price and sized meals. Dining area lacked ambience but otherwise a good little place to eat! Would definitely return.

My favourite spot to eat in Jindy. Food is a twist on normal Japanese. Quality is exceptional. We’ve dined here many times and we have never been disappointed. Word is out so a reservation néeds to be made in advance. Not overly suited for young...More

Description
Takayama Restaurant Bar is situated in the alpine region of NSW Snowy Mountains in a ski town called Jindabyne. It pays homage to the Izakaya style pubs you find on and near the slopes of the Japanese ski fields, which is where the boys Stefan, Ralph and Jake were inspired to open a restaurant to try to bring a little taste of that back to Jindabyne. We offer a menu which is influenced by the mountains of Japan with a our take on it. We have a range of drinks readily available to those who are dining, including cocktails, beer on tap, wines and spirits. Relax with a Sapporo from the tap and some edamame beans, while we cook your dinner after you've skied or snowboarded all day!
