Spice Monkey is an Asian fusion restaurant in Forster. We believe that food feeds the soul. We design our menus to make people feel good. Our Asian fusion cuisine is served share plate style so that you and your family and friends can get the full experience of what our menu has to offer. Our expert sushi and sashimi chef will prepare your fresh sushi/sashimi selection to order and you can sit at our unique sushi bar and watch him create while you wait. Spice Monkey brings a new vibrancy to Forster restaurants with our large outdoor share-table overlooking the pristine Wallis Lake or inside at our large or round booth tables seating up to 12 and 6 people. Our inside bar area is another unique feature of Spice Monkey, perfect for catching up with friends over cocktails (or full teapot cocktails if you prefer!), canape functions or simply eating sushi and watching the dolphins go by.

On a trip through four regional NSW towns this was the eleventh consecutive night we ate at a restaurant and Spice Monkey blew us away. We had octopus dumplings, beef & ginger dumplings, sashimi plate and sirloin beef with beans and kimchi. Each dish was delicious, beautifully presented and served properly and all for under $100 including corkage. If you are in Forster and enjoy Asian food do yourself a favour and try Spice Monkey.

Came here for dinner on a Monday night as not much was open in Forster. It is very popular, so a booking is definitely recommended.
My husband and I shared 4 different things from the share plate menu along with an alcoholic drink each. Don't expect a cheap night as our bill was just under $100- It is BYO wine but corkage is $8- a bottle, which we thought a bit expensive.
We liked the food we chose. It was cooked fresh and had a nice flavour. Due to Covid 19 restrictions with numbers, there were different time slots but service was friendly and food arrived quickly so an hour and a half was adequate. Very pleased we came here to try something a bit different to our normal dinners out.

Book first, we went on a Sunday night and thankfully did as many had to resort to takeaway.
That said.... it took a half hour for an order to be taken whilst people who entered after us started their meals well before us, guys your only flaw which management observers can easily fix. The food is simply delicious and reminds us of our favourite Japanese restaurant in Canberra and we’ll be back before we depart Foster/Tuncurry
A couple of examples of stunning dishes in the photo, pulled duck and cooked to perfection prawns besides the sashimi we enjoyed, lovely smiles from the staff complemented the nice background music and awesome location. We’ll be back

Was looking forward to attending the restaurant, however was met with disappointment. Was greeting with a no care attitude. On top of this with covid, I counted 42 people in a space that was catered for MAX 30.
Now to the food, ordered the nigiri rolls that we’re overloaded with rice and becoming dry and flavourless. Mince style dumplings, once opened they were RARE! Was offered replacements but declined. The highlight was definitely the duck entré dish.
The manager came up to apologise about the rare meat and offered a poached pear for dessert describing it so delicious. Once again weird option and declined.
Overall atmosphere was mediocre and overcrowded space for some time. Definitely little to no social distancing. I’m not saying don’t go but just have low expectations. Just trying to be as honest as possible from the experience

We arrived for our dinner booking & discovered we were in fact booked in for the night before. Due to Covid the restaurant is bookings only, which is fair enough. The staff went out of their way to safely accommodate us. Thank goodness they did or we would have missed out on the most incredible dining experience. The staff are very friendly & it is obviously a very pleasant place to work. This reflects through the quality of the food & service. The prices were very reasonable. The restaurant is situated on 'Wallis Lake providing a great spot to watch the sunset whilst dining. The food was served with just the right amount of time between each course. We had Char Siu Pork, Prawn & Coconut Dumplings, Sake & lemon cured ocean trout & Sake & Soy marinated sirloin. Highly recommend all of the dishes. We had a special bottle of wine of our own we wanted to enjoy. This was not a problem. A fee of $7 was charged for corkage. Including this cost the entire meal came to $115.00 Very reasonable considering the quality & flavors of the food.
Can't wait to return.

With family from Sydney we were greeted by Gabi, and we were so grateful for her suggestions of mixed entrees, loved the duck spring rills n coconut prawn dumplings, followed by Barramundi in creamy sauce n very tasty spicy beef n crispy noodles. Loved the attention from Gabi, food was quick and, as locals, we were pleased our visitors loved it. Thanks guys! Its our favourite.

We had tempura prawns, seared scallops, sashimi plate and a seafood laksa. Each dish had distinct flavour combinations and contributed to a great dining experience. The staff were friendly and attentive. It was also very reassuring the way the restaurant managed Covid safety particularly the help they gave with the sign in process and the high standard of cleaning after each guest left the restaurant. Looking forward to trying more of the menu.

From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and responsive. We were welcomed with a friendly smile and felt immediately at ease. When questioned the waitress kindly explained some of the dishes on the menu and was happy to share her favourites when asked. The food was amazing and delivered in a timely manner. The view across the water and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was brilliant. As i work in hospitality I full aware that great food is a big part of any dining experience but it is the staff and customer service that takes it to the next level and you always remember the service given. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough I will be back.

We loved Spice Monkey! The food was impeccable. Our table of 10 asked our waitress to decide for us, and she brought us out a wonderful selection of Asian fusion plates, each tasting better than the last. The atmosphere was chill, the amenities were clean and the cocktail jugs were fun and delicious.

I almost don’t want everyone to know how great this little gem is, because I selfishly don’t want it to get so busy we can’t get in! Finally, a good Asian restaurant has arrived in Forster! These guys are serving great quality, well executed Asian fusion in a lovely little lake side location. We were a little nervous to try the sushi & sashimi, as we are huge Japanese food fans & have eaten in very high end restaurants. This could go horribly wrong when in the wrong hands! But alas! It was surprising really good! All our meals were a big hit. A great evening was had by all! Our waiter was hilarious too & made the night all the more surprising! We will definitely be back on our next visit to the area. It’s quite obvious, these guys really do give a Monkey’s!

Spice Monkey was recommended to us by friends who live in Forster. We booked well in advance. The table we were allocated was near the door so there was always people walking past or standing around - apparently the 1.5 metre rule doesn't apply.
We ordered the beef ribs, kimchi fried rice and mixed greens. The food lacked flavour, very little spicy. The beef was tender, but didn't have the flavours promised in the menu. The greens were supposed to have ginger - there was barely hint of ginger there. The kimchi fried rice had a small amount of spicy taste from sliced chilli used as a garnish, very little kimchi taste.
Overall we were both disappointed with the food here. The meal with 2 drinks and a bottle of mineral water was $94 - a lot for a meal we were disappointed with.
Service was good.
Make sure you book a table as it's a busy restaurant.

We have always enjoyed visiting Spice Monkey and have returned many times, often with visitors.In the past, there has been a constantly evolving menu . great lunch specials and knowledgeable and well trained staff. This latest visit there were no lunch specials, the menu was the same as ever and the staff were all new, mostly quite young and not trained properly- we were asked 3 times in 7 minutes if "you guys are ready to order" Really???

Had more amazing food at Spice Monkey tonight. Love this place , it is always number one on our foodie list for Forster and great to see it’s still around. The food is so fresh and the service is great , recommend booking during the holiday season. Great for families and for any occasion, will definitely be back again 10/10. Quite an expensive restaurant but the food is VERY tasty & well presented. Expensive because it is very easy to have multiple servings of the share dishes. Pleasant outlook to the west over the start of the lake. Excellent service. We had 2 drinks each plus 6 share plates & one main course. The serving size of the main course could easily be shared by 4 people after starters. For 2 people, just over $200.
