Thai with a twist

My wife and I are Forster locals but hadn’t had the pleasure of eating at Limlong until this week. We were tiring of the usual Thai offerings locally and decided to give dinner a try. We booked on a Monday night and were surprised at how busy it was. Apologies for the lack of photos but I got carried away with the superb presentation of the dishes but more importantly the flavours. We shared duck pancakes and Crab Net Spring rolls for appetizers. Bother we’re beautifully presented with dipping sauces and exhibited subtle flavours. For mains we had Beef Massaman which was served on a flat plate with a conical shaped piece of roti encapsulating the ingredients like a tepee. We also had Pad Cha Pork Belly containing galangal, chili, basil, peppercorns and vegetables. Both dishes were flavoursome and would order both again. Total bill with a glass of wine and a beer ($13) came to a fraction over $70. Very reasonable and high quality food. Chef took pride in presentation with a twist.

Good value delicious lunches

Great food - had lunch with 6 others and we all enjoyed our $12.90 lunch specials - very generous servings and good service, plus the beautiful view, of course. And a huge choice of meals. Third time I have eaten here and can thoroughly recommend for both lunch and dinner. They state that they do not split bills, but if you order and pay first at the counter you can do so.

This fairly new to Forster Thai restaurant is a great place to eat. The menu offers a choice of starters and mains that will suit all diners. Pork belly and massaman curry were popular at our table. Nice cold drinks as well.

Don’t waste your money here!

Don’t waste your money here! Food is crap and Expensive and staff are rude and belittle you. We are locals and recommend you don’t visit this restaurant as the food is not that great and we couldn’t eat two of the dishes. We ordered a pad Thai vegetables we couldn’t put it near our mouth as it smelled so bad! After speaking to the waitress she told us it was normal and we explained we had eaten at the restaurant before and it tasted nothing like it. She then ignored us. We ordered Satay chicken stir fry and there was half a cup Of water at the bottom of the stir fry and the sauce had very little flavour. The massaman curry was ok but lacked the usual potato’s. 3 dishes with fried rice 2 of which we didn’t eat and $85 later we walked out very unhappy after trying to complain to the staff who ignored us completely. Messaged the manager after hours and no response. Don’t waste your $$$ here for a crappy Thai experience.

Terrible food

This restaurant doesn’t have authentic Thai food. Everything seemed watered down and tasteless. We were expecting big things from all the outstanding reviews but were incredibly disappointed by the taste and lack of freshness. Noodles should not be stuck together with dry bits of chicken. Also the wait staff need to learn how to serve customers. No COVID protocols being observed here as staff take menus from one table and pass it onto another. Picking up dirty dishes from one table then coming back to serve another without sanitising/washing hands. One of the waitresses lacked hospitality skills, spoke abruptly and looked bothered to be working. Not a smile or a hello or please/thank you. This was a huge waste of money as it isn’t cheap. Wish we had gone to spice monkey and perhaps had a better meal and service for the money we spent.

Dry old chicken no veg and 95% noodles

Went here yesterday. Nice service when you walk in.... please come here.. ordered 2 dishes pad Thai and pad kee mow both with chicken .. 85% rice pasta 5% sauce 5% veg and 5% dried up pre cooked chicken. Very sad. Veg was piss weak. Meat dry. Taste ok. Value probably cost them $4.00 not going back

If you’re looking for authentic Thai food this place is not good. Food was average and too much onions in noodles. Chicken was dry fried rice was not tasty. Did not taste like Thai food at all. Below average. We ordered Thai fried rice and Pad kee mao noodles both below average and too much onions. Fried rice was very plain. Won’t be going back there again.

Went one Friday, had to go back the next

We were very pleasantly surprised by this relatively recent addition to Forster's restaurant scene. Since moving here last year we have missed the restaurant scene we enjoyed in Sydney. While it will never be the same (neither will the noise and traffic) food of this quality is a great boon to the local scene. Very tasty Thai food, will presented by wonderful staff. My only concern is their beer menu which is without imagination. Keep up the good work.

Sydney Quality Thai in Forster

Great tasting food ! Duck pancakes - best ever. Fish cakes with a dash of chilli, spicy fried rice with pork belly, green curry and a garlic pepper stir fry. Wow factor. Whether you live in Forster or are visiting, this place is a must.

Excellent food and service

Ordered crab net spring rolls, the pork belly salad and a tofu veggie green curry. Service was excellent, food was delicious. They’re managing the new restrictions well and I felt safe indoors as the spacing of tables and ventilation worked really well without detracting too much from the cosy ambience. Highly recommend!

Worst Thai ever

We ordered home delivery to our hotel. The pad Thai was dry, the noodles were stuck together and the dish was tasteless. The peanut satay was awful, it was barely eatable. Never again, eat at your own risk!

Hats off to Limlong Thai

Booked Limlong for dinner last night and was very impressed with both the food and service. Middle of the long weekend, you expect a wait on food but these guys were on their game. We ordered Curry Puffs for Entree and Pad See Ew Beef and Pork Belly Fried Rice for mains. Mains were very tasty and full of flavour. Definitely the best Thai I’ve had!!

Owner is arrogant

WE had lunch in the restaurant. The two ladies shared slow cooked pork belly salad. (main menu, not lunch special). The pork was over cooked, being hard and dry. We commented to the waitress. The owner (?) came over, and was overbearing and aggressive, and told us to not come back. Well, Sir, not much chance of that.

Disappointing

This Thai was quite disappointing. Got 3 meals for takeaway lunch. Firstly, the containers were 3/4 rice. The chicken was chewy as was the so called beef in the other dishes. Didn't seem to taste like authentic Thai. Don't think we'll get meals from here again.

This should be 6 stars. What a find, some of the best Thai restaurants we have ever been to. From the entree to the mains, didn’t do desert so can’t comment. Highlights were the duck pancake, chicken green curry and fish dish. Yum.
