Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Has Barbara changed hands as the menu has changed we thought we would have some small plates and a salad . The food was good calamari and garlic toast this was $5 for one slice we were expecting two slices as it is a shared plate. The Zucchini flower was stuffed with what was said to be crab but was tasteless , then there was a salad it was a very ordinary salad for $20
When we ordered we were very specific that we wanted the calamari and toast first as a starter then the zucchini and salad as the main this proved to be too difficult and it cam the wrong way round
The wait staff were all very nice and attentive once at the table
The view really can’t be beaten , Coogee beach on a hot evening , it has been my go to place for visitors to Sydney for many years I hope it will stay that way

We called at Barzura on a recommendation. We wern't disappointed. Although busy, we were shown to a table without undue delay. We shared shakshuka and eggs with avocado on sough dough toast and a side salad. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The coffee there is also to die for.

We had lunch outside on a sunny Coogee day, enjoying the beautiful setting.
The mains were underwhelming. All mains were served cold. Snapper main was overcooked and small for the price.
Side of chips was tasty and well cooked but, again, small for the $12 price.
Dessert was the best part of the meal.
It was an expensive meal in these post-Covid times and this wasn't helped by the fact that they don't accept BYO with a reasonable corkage fee.

Unfortunately we ordered the fish n chips which came a measly portion of fries and most of them the small burnt bits. Not even a token side salad or even a few salad leaves. The bill of $33 for that dish shocked me given it was so bad and the size of a kids meal.

The location is great but unfortunately the staff just weren’t having a great day. The waitress that served us seemed irritated, impatient and kept rolling her eyes at us and then took our order incorrectly. It seemed like she just didn’t want us there which being indigenous I found somewhat uncomfortable and she made it very clear by starting to clear the table and placing a reservation sign on our table while we were still eating. The food I could probably get from a takeaway somewhere and seemed underwhelming, overpriced and took “understated” to another level. When paying the bill the staff also informed us that there was a Sunday surcharge not displayed on the menu that we were obliged to pay. The Sunday surcharge was for the exceptional service the staff displayed. Overall I would not rate this experience well for various reasons and would not recommend this restaurant to someone who is looking for good food, a friendly atmosphere and a nice view.

We have been coming to Barzura for years. its a fantastic location but unfortunately the serving sizes are too small for the $$ you pay. Fully understand the cost of meat / fish etc but fill the plates with more vegetables or chips or something. If you are going to charge $34 a main, its needs to be bigger than an entrée size meal.

I wrote a review a year ago, and this restaurant just gets better and better!
Apart from the stunning view, the service was exemplary, - David deserves a bonus! The food was exceptional. I had 2 nice pieces of delicious fish served with crunchy chips, and my husband had a huge bowl of lip smacking mussels. If you want to enjoy the Best of Sydney, don’t miss a visit here.

So glad our flight was delayed so we could return back to Coogee Beach and experience this beautifully situated establishment. The views from just about any table are amazing, The staff is friendly and attentive and our meals were delicious, tasty and satisfying. We had some cocktails from the full bar, wine and beer list. Dined with a share plate on a pot of black mussels in white wine sauce with chips along with fresh burrata, tomato, basil and bread. All while basking in the sun. Choose a seat inside/out or on balcony. Enjoy!

Menu looked great, so we decided to eat here for dinner. When we went to order Garlic prawns we were informed that they had no Garlic!!! Unfortunately that meant half of the menu was unavailable. Have they not heard of a supermarket to get Garlic.

We really enjoyed relaxing here for a delicious seafood lunch with a sensational view. It’s at the southern end of Coogee Beach away from the frenetic crowds at Cafes on Coogee Bay Rd. You need to allow plenty of time to find a car space, and carefully check the parking restriction signs, as some have one hour and some have four hour limits.

A great place for a casual lunch situated on the southern end of Coogee Beach.
Nice to be able to visit a friendly family owned restaurant with great food and a scenic location.
After enjoying the coastal walk from Bronte to Coogee the food was ideal our purpose and the staff courteous and attentive.
Strongly recommend a visit.

Beachside at Coogee this busy little cafe/restaurant was packed with people and their dishes were packed with flavour. We made a reservation that was postponed with no issue at all when I changed times on them and then the service inside the door was just as obliging.
Every dish was amazing and great value also.
Highly recommend this establishment whether it be for a meal or a beverage.

Ordered the asian omelette (bean sprouts, garlic chives, shitake mushrooms, coriander ...) I like my sprouts cooked so asked for it to be held back. It was a very satisfying enjoyable meal. The sauce that came with the meal topped it off nicely.

We came for a Xmas work lunch and they had all COVIDSafe procedures which was reassuring.
We shared several entrees for starters including salt & pepper calamari and stuffed zucchini flowers.
For my main I had the muscles - and they were delicious!
For dessert I had chocolate mousse and it was yum.
The service was excellent and fast.

A great local place for breakfast. This is not another boring eggs and pancakes place. You come here for something different but still delicious. A couple of recommendations: the mie goreng or Crispy pancetta, avocado, cherry tomato & aioli on toasted sourdough

Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
