This is our third visit to Osteria in the past 2 years and once again, we were not disappointed. If you are looking for an Italian Bistro, this place is NOT for you. Osteria is top class Italian dining with the subtle flavours and atmosphere you would expect in a quality restaurant in Milan. My wife has coeliac disease and was delighted that almost everything on the menu could be prepared gluten-free. We chose Crudo (kingfish with melon), Burrara (cheese baked with sage butter), Agnello (slow cooked lamb), Pesce (whole baby snapper in a delicate sauce), a salad and side of excellent mashed potato, and two deserts. As is the norm at this restaurant, we shared the starters and mains and enjoyed absolutely everything. With 2 glasses of wine each, the bill came in just under $100 each which we felt was very reasonable. The service was pleasant, efficient and unobtrusive. It all made for an excellent birthday celebration. We will definitely be back.

It was my wife's birthday. She's super picky about her food and has a few allergies that make dining out tricky. But Osteria were super accomodating. Our waitress knew the menu inside out and they were able to navigate my wife's requests. Everything was super delicious especially the grilled octopus. We received a $25 voucher which my wife said she'd use just for herself – she plans to go back on her own and order 5 plates of the grilled octopus :)

Osteria Coogee turned out to be a great location for a classy family dinner. The range of meals especially the seafood was excellent. The waitstaff knew their menus and wine choices very well and offered good advice in a friendly manner. We were bundled out quickly for the next session. I would suggest doing the set price menu and booking early for the second dinner sitting.

Hi Kevin, glad you enjoyed your meal! As you noted, we do have 2 seating times on weekend evenings, but if you come in for the later seating from 8pm on you will have longer at your table. Either that or come back midweek or n a Sunday where we can slow service right down for you and let you enjoy a longer dinner.

My partner and I had a dinner at Osteria last night, and were left feeling disappointed.
The food was the let down of the evening as it really lacked the authenticity of an Italian meal.
The menu was quite limited to choices, with some items fairly overpriced eg. 1x arranchini ball for $8.00
Service was ok, but nothing to really comment on too much.
Safe to say that we will not be returning.

Firstly, the service was great and the staff was very friendly.
Two of us really enjoyed the meal … the other two thought it was acceptable but not special … and the only items we really enjoyed were the arancini balls and the ragu. The large 1kg special steak was slightly undercooked (to what we ordered), slightly chewy in places, and we thought at $90 was not quite up to standard.
I guess we would have enjoyed the more basic style food we have experienced whilst in Italy.
The atmosphere was good, but we thought the 50’s/60’s music (which we love) was way too loud and at times made conversation a little difficult.

This is a place that simply relies on location and tourists.
The service was appalling and the lack of interest when told they got it wrong was disgraceful. The girl with the dark long hair should not be in the service industry with the attitude and lack of professionalism delivered.
The duck ragu was border line entree size and was the most bland pasta I have eaten in years. The porchetta was good, but no garnish $44. Deep fried potatoes barely a handful $12.
These guys are amateurs charging real restaurant prices.

Came here for a birthday lunch for three of us. Ordered burrata , eggplant, gnocchi and lamb Ragu with truffle mashed potato to Share. Think burrata would be nicer if served slightly warm instead of cold, servings are small for what you pay. The staff are really attentive and great, overall enjoyed our lunch experience.

We had the 6 course 'Mangia' menu. Every dish was absolutely divine. We possibly should have ordered the 8 course 'Mangiamo' set menu as we did add an additional pasta dish.
The service was absolutely spot on. Exceptionally smooth, professional and attentive. I haven't experienced service like this in a very, very long time.
The drinks were fantastic. The 'espresso shakerato' was my favourite.
The venue itself is beautiful. Lighting was spot-on. The only possible criticism was that I didn't particularly like my chair. It was like a shared bench.
Will definitely be back

First time visit for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. Difficult to pick our favourite dishes because all of them were awesome. Meal sizes are smallish, but the point is to have multiple courses. We spent $167 for 2 for 5 dishes and 2 sides and a half bottle carafe of wine and were truly stuffed by the end. The service was very friendly and helpful. We shall certainly be back!

We headed here for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. Lovely restaurant with delicious food. The service was great too. After our meal the friendly waiter asked if we would like to be moved to the balcony to finish our cocktails. This was very thoughtful and we took him up on the offer since it was such a beautiful day. Overall we had a very pleasant dining experience and will not hesitate to come back.

Me and my friends absolutely love trying out new places for dinner and long overdue catch ups.
After hearing about Osteria we booked in a girlie lunch date.
Our waitress was lovely and the actual restaurant is a really nice venue with a singer on a Sunday (Good vibes)!
The food however was a major let down!
We each had a pasta dish that was finished within about 8 mouthfuls - it’s always so disappointing when pasta portions are pitiful, as it is so cheap to either make/ bulk buy, a few extra handfuls wouldn’t go a miss!
My friends shared a pizza fritta which can only be described as a doughball, there is absolutely nothing to share.
A massive shame as it has such potential to be really nice, but in terms of value for money it is way down the bottom of the pile. We all ordered more food on our way home.
The only thing that was positive for me as a coeliac is that the majority of the menu is/ can be made gluten free.
Although you would need to order one of everything to be remotely full.

Beautifully located in Coogee. Food was amazing with a modern twist. Excellent service. We had the 6 dish Mangia menu at $65 per head- and it was a great way to be able to try a selection of their beautiful dishes.

I attended towards the end of last year as I had heard good things however was really disappointed. The service really ruined the evening from the get go with really our individual starters split, divided between 4 which was just bizarre.
All mains arrived except 1 for a further 10 minutes.
For dessert I ordered a tiramisu and asked the waitress if they had Nutella that I could have on the side which they did accommodate which was really nice.
Overall the food was ok, but the service ruined our night.

Could you please contact me at info@osteriacoogee.com? I'd like to hear more about your experience, because it sounds like this was a different restaurant entirely, or simply made up.
We do not serve individual starters, our menu is a sharing menu and plates are never "split" by the kitchen.
We have also never stocked Nutella on our premises, nor do we have any house made substitute.

A lovely genuine Italian restaurant - food was delicious, we had the Mangia menu, service superb, friendly and informative staff. A couple of dietary requests were met well and we were offered alternatives with absolutely no problem. We'll be back!

We enjoyed a very delicious lunch at Osteria. The Mangia set meal was outstanding, our guests with vegetarian and tree nut free menu requests were catered for admirably.
A relaxed, attentive and high quality Italian restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
