Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went here for dinner. Excellent pub food, best parmigiana we have ever had, and we eat out a lot. Staff are kind of homey but doing their best. Amazing old hotel with so many beautifully preserved features. Great work Queenstown for trying your best to...get tourism going as an alternative to mining.More

after a morning riding we decided to treat the kids to a bowl of hot chips. staff were lovely but such a shame in a beautiful building that the atmosphere was zero. it was freezing cold also. but the main reason for this two star...review is the ludicrous price I paid for the tiniest bowl of chips. $12!! I couldn't believe it, it was literally just about $1 per chip. honestly, beautiful building, beautiful staircase, lovely staff, but you need to adjust your pricing. I don't mind paying for quality and quantity, but this had neither.More

Couldn’t fault the food, young staff working were very nice. Food was nice too. But the other staff were so rude. Two women in matching Everlast jumpers loud, and unhelpful. We have been here many times over the years. It felt flat, and absolutely no...atmosphere. Please speak to staff about appearance(other than the young wait staff, and young man in beanie, they were the only good staff)More

The room we were given was tiny with extension leads hanging from walls etc. I was in grave fear of electrocution all night. Kept awake all night by the sound of the hot water service continually heating. When it stopped heating it was blissfully quiet...until it started again! Stay anywhere but not this hotel!More

The setting of this historic hotel is appealing, and the dining room is a quaint reflection of its history. The food on offer is old style pub food, and was good value for money. As with much of the West Coast of Tassie this time...of year getting staff is a struggle, so service levels was a bit less than you hope for, but understandable. A good reliable feed on a cold autumn nightMore

I had Pork Belly while my partner ate Lamb Shank. Both were SUPERB!! They were large servings but too go to waste so we managed to eat it all up. So glad we decided to dine at the Empire, definitely coming back on our next...trip to Queenstown!More

Excellent meal and we enjoyed it immensely. For the complainer persons go eat in our New Zealand. Food is not up to the amount served in Tasmania. Great quality and taste

13 of us had a great feed tonight. Everyone said how much they enjoyed their meals. I had Surf and Turf which was very good, but the Sticky Date was sensational. 👍👍👍
