Dined here for brunch, I ordered eggs & bacon on toast which came out instantly. My partner ordered a bacon & egg wrap which came out after I had finished my meal & my two friends both ordered the breakfast burrito which came out well after me & my partner had finished our meals. To swap sauce out to a different sauce on the wraps cost $3 extra which I thought was over priced. Overall was okay.

Stopped for lunch on a tuesday afternoon, ideal location and great for pets. Service was friendly and efficient. Order was delivered quickly. The wife's seafood basket was average, however my beef ribs came from a different animal. Either change the menu or change the chef to one who knows the difference between beef and pork! The kitchen closed just before our order arrived, even though the waitress said we had no rush, they would be packing up around us while we ate. Awkward and not really a relaxed and comfy lunch, it was only 1:30pm.

Very good eggs Benedict

We both had eggs Bennie 1 with salmon one with bacon, generous serving of salmon and hollandaise. We went on the public holidays so there was 15% surcharge on p/h. But the food was very good and considering how busy they were the food came out rather fast too. Highly recommend.

Had breakfast at the sidewalk cafe with my partner. The larger blonde lady serving behind the counter was quite rude and flustered. I would reconsider before ordering any meal with bread or toast, as it was literally the cheap white bread loaves from woolies or coles, probably not what you want when you’re spending $15-$20 for breaky. The brunette waitress (Spanish?) seemed nice tho. Definitely overpriced for the service and quality

We used to enjoy breakfast at Sidewalk Cafe over many years, but after our experience on Saturday morning 12th of September we will never return. My wife ordered the fruit salad with natural yogurt. When her meal arrived it had no yogurt so my wife asked the waitress if she could have some yogurt and also some cutlery to eat her meal as none had been supplied. The yogurt was delivered on a very small ceramic spoon not much bigger than the size of a teaspoon and that was also to be her awkward implement to eat her meal. The waitress looked at my wife whom looked perplexed by the situation and said would you like some more yogurt to which my wife replied yes please. The waitress returned and said if you would like more yogurt you will have to pay extra. I believe no staff member including the cook realised that the fruit salad on the menu is supposed to include yogurt. When I asked to speak to the manager I was informed there was no manager or anyone in charge either???? I asked to speak with the chef/cook about the situation and they refused to discuss the situation???? I have been waiting to see the owner inside the cafe to discuss and explain what happened prior to writing this bad review but have not seen him inside over the past few weeks, Maybe the cafe is under new ownership. Also my meal had poached eggs that were like rubber with no runny yolk at all.

Worst hospitality experience

When dining at the sidewalk cafe Airlie beach my friend and I had the WORST dining experience of our lives. We both work in hospitality and understand that during public holidays places do get busy, but the staff were rude and eating while walking around the restaurant, which I find to be very unprofessional. It took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive at the table, and when it did arrive it was cold and not up to standard. We ordered a smashed avocado and the bread wasn’t toasted and there was a coin size amount of avocado on top, it was also served in a bowl so it was very hard to eat. We also ordered their French toast, which was very soggy and inedible and the bacon served was very burnt and also inedible. Will not be recommending this place to any one.

Appalling service and terrible food

Went into sidewalk this morning for breakfast and a coffee. Not only was my friends bacon raw and not cooked they served her the wrong coffee. We asked for the bacon to be cooked and the correct coffee to be served. We were told the chef was refusing to remake the bacon by a rude teenager with an attitude problem. She said the manager was refusing to refund her for either items. Asked for the manager and she was just as rude and stupid as the waitress. After arguing for five minutes that she wasn’t going to refund anything she finally gave in and refunded the bacon item. Will never be returning as the staff are rude, obnoxious and obviously don’t know how to cook food.

We had eggs Benedict and it was the worst we had in a long while. Both eggs hard, served on simple white slices of toast which were cold and already hardened. The whole with salmon for $20.90 was not what we were expecting for that price. Very disappointed, wont come again.

Would not go back here at all

This place was really disappointing. Both breakfast meals came out with “toast” that was still soft, the food wasn’t very nice at all & you could tell the mushrooms & tomato were old before cooked.. the zymil milkshake came out slightly warm so they mustn’t have had cold milk, the list goes on. Over all it was just super poor quality with the food and service, not worth the money. Definitely wouldn’t go back here.

Came here for breakfast when our usual go to was unexpectedly closed. We’d never been here before but thought why not, location is good, view of the ocean. Ordered coffee and breakfast. Hubby’s long black came out and was cold and resembled dirty water. Sorry but had to send it back. First time we ever sent a coffee back. For the price we paid for each breakfast, $19, we expected good food but unfortunately we were disappointed. Hate to say it but worst breakfast we’ve had in Airlie. On the positive, the lady who took our order was really nice and the scones and muffins they had on offer looked delicious.

Pricely for a poor quality of food and basic cuisine

We went for breakfast. The two meals didn’t arrived in the same time and it wasn’t even still hot. Ordered a halloumi bruschetta, it was just a toast with some pesto and 2 eggs. Very basic. Any seasoning or dressing on the few leaves of salad served with. The big sidewalk breakfast was expensive for what it is. The toast were soft, the food was cold and the hash brown was so small. And on top of that you have to pay an extra for the hollandaise sauce, at least for this price it should be included. Very disappointing, we don’t recommend.

Breakfast that Smelt like rotten fish oil

Most disgusting breakfast I have ever been served! Simple bacon and eggs that had the smell of rotten fish oil! The scrambled eggs had greasy oil over it and almost made me vomit with the smell. The bacon had the same stench. I took the dish back up to the cashier and told her to smell it. She took the plate back to the kitchen and offered no apology, no refund, and there was no way I was requesting another meal. This local will not be eating there again.

Very disappointed service and overpriced

We were very disappointed with the service on our recent visit for breakfast. Our the food arrived 30 minutes after our coffee / tea and the eggs were cold. The sides are also overpriced - the roasted mushrooms consisted of one mushroom ($5) and the roasted tomatoes ($4) was half of one tomato. We will be go elsewhere in future.

Overly priced breakfast

Overly priced breakfast. We ordered a toasted ham and cheese croissant (almost A$13 each) , which were still cold in the middle, and a small fruit salad each. The small fruit salad was mainly melon with one small strawberry slice and kiwi slice on the top (also almost A$13 each!). The service at the front was very unhelpful and unfriendly when ordering.

Great Coffee & Great Service

With the restrictions currently in place for cafes and restaurants, it is great to be able to get a fantastic takeaway coffee from this cafe each morning. A good selection of food "to go" as well.The service is always top and each time greeted with a smile. Thanks for being there to provide a coffee each morning, it's appreciated.
