What a lovely experience I had last night. After a long drive and demanding day I sat down at Yiani’s restaurant, enjoyed a glass of good red wine along with a bowl of olives while listening to Greek music, catching a glimpse of the waves rolling in and waiting in anticipation for my main of slow cooked lamb. It was the best way to wind down and enjoy life. And of course there is Yiani himself - the best host with such Greek flare you could hope for! Thank you Yiani! And yes folks that’s right - “oraio fagto” - great food!

Four of us went to Yiani's restaurant for dinner. As I lived and worked in Greece for five and a half years, I know what Greek food tastes like, and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered three entrees of barbecued octopus, calamari and keftedes (Greek meatballs), a Greek salad and a bowl of chips.
I particularly ordered the meatballs as that used to be the "fast food" of Greece at the time and we actually used to go to a place in Glyfada called "meatball alley".
As it was close to the airport at Hellikon at the time and we used to eat, drink and read the lettering on the aircraft tyres as they passed overhead .. conversations were always halted as the planes flew over ... I digress .. sorry.
The meatballs were exactly as I remembered , as was the octopus, salad and chips. The calamari was nice but calamari is calamari. I should have looked at the size of the entrees first because they are quite large, nevertheless I finished it all.
The others had Moussaka, Spanakopita, Souvlaki, fried Haloumi and all agreed the food was good.
Yiani came over and gave us a taste of Saganaki and a wine from his village back in Greece.
We will certainly be going back there again.

Walking into Iannois restaurant taking in the beautiful ocean view you enter what feels and tastes like Greece. Authentic meals with beautiful Greek wine and the laughter and dance as if you truly are sitting in what feels like Corfu. Smashing plates and clapping hands as Iannois entertains us with the Zorba dance. The restaurant is family friendly, bustling with energy, clean and with value for money. Also perfect for a couple or group of friends, sharing a mezze platter. Walk-in or place a reservation you are always made to feel like family and never go home hungry.

I was really excited at Yiani's coming to Coolum as I adore Greek food. Food was ok, although lacking in flavour. . The Greek Salad and needed seasoning or dressing. and the dips were a bit bland. The lamb was delicious though. It is the service that needs working on most of all.
We asked about a couple of dishes on the menu and was told by the waitress that she doesn't speak Greek. Actually, neither do we! We mentioned on ordering the entrees that we were looking forward to trying one of the desserts later, but that did not happen as the bill was presented to us at 9.03 pm and we said "Oh, we were going to order desserts and coffees". The waitress said "Sorry, the kitchen is closed!" Noone came up before this time to offer anything else before the deadline. Very disappointed with the abrupt ending and lack of waitress knowledge. Perhaps the chef and manager can explain the menu to the wait staff so that they can assist the customers and give a few minutes notice before closing off the kitchen rather than losing $50 of desserts and coffees?
Hopefully, these are just teething issues.

Romantic date in this Greek restaurant started with lovely greeting, timely and accurate service. We discussed the atmosphere would make you want to visit Greece. The food was served nicely presented. My initial taste felt Luke warm but not one to complain I had a little more but it was fridge cold feta and spinach. Lovely young staff member took it away for reheat - my plate was returned by the owner, unceremoniously plonked on the table with words directed at me “ have you a problem? Have you a Problem?” My food was cold I said and his reply “ we are authentic cooks we don’t use microwaves!” He left before my reply which would have suggested using the oven for longer and before my husband confronted him for his aggressive approach to a woman. I calmed my husband down to continue our nice night, ate the food which when heated was lovely but cannot comment much as I was angry. The poor staff missed out on a tip (owner was again rude when we were paying, leaving before we got receipt which I pulled from the machine myself. The musicians at Foxies bar got $60 dollar tip for great music and wonderful owner and customer service. As for My husbands yeros salad at Yiani’s he said this was lovely but “ the chips were cold”

Overall experience was ok. The main dish was lovely. I wouldn't waste your money on the entree dips. We ordered one and got 4 small triangles of pita for a whole dip. That was pretty pathetic we thought.
Staff were really nice. Parking was an issue as the surrounding were busy. Suggested getting there a bit earlier as you may have to walk.

We visited Yianis for the first time last Monday night and can highly recommend it. The Greek cuisine was delicious and authentic with the hospitality reminicent of days gone by visiting tavenas in Greece. Yiani the owner was delightful and even shared his recipe for the wonderful taramasalata they serve. Yiani's is an extremely welcome addition to the Coolum restaurant scene and I look forward to my next visit.

Being of Greek nationality, I'm always on the hunt for authentic Greek food that takes me back to the warmth of my mother's kitchen. The food, the service and the atmosphere is exceptional and is without a doubt the best Greek in the sunny coast. Your host Yianni is one of the last true restaurateurs in the business. His warmth, attention to detail and passion will have you feeling like your are dining in a taverna on a Greek island.
My choice of food is the octopus, slow cooked lamb, moussaka and for dessert, they make the best Bougasta I've ever eaten.

Yiani’s is best place to eat in Coolum, and a favourite with locals due to the warm welcomes and consistently delicious food. They have hearty, authentic mains alongside excellent sharing dishes. The seafood is fresh and perfectly prepared - I recommend the grilled octopus. The wine list has authentic Greek options, too. There are also great kids’ options. While Yiani will always try to fit you in, it’s best to book.

My partner and I had the most amazing dinner. The staff were great, the food was fantastic and not a bad word could be said about the venue. I could not recommend a restaurant any highly as this and I thank the owner for his hospitality and the way he made us feel so welcome.

We had a brilliant dinner at Yiani’s on Thursday night. Yiani was our waiter and he gave us a fabulous time with terrific food, great wine, ouzo and other alcoholic beverages. Our meals were very generous in size but great in taste. This restaurant is the best by far on the Sunshine Coast and I would highly recommend Yiani’s Greek restaurant at Coolum to anyone with a taste for fine food and excellent quality customer service.
Yiani’s is the best, come on in and have some authentic Greek good with fine service and I’m sure you will be satisfied.Quality Assured.

Our friends took us to Yiani's for our first Greek dining experience on the Australia day weekend Friday night.
Absolutely awesome!!!!!
The food and beverages were great and the service was absolutely first class. I witnessed and experienced Yiarni and his wife Candice engaging all of their customers creating such a welcoming environment.
Yiani's wine choice was spot on and his self named cocktail is a beauty as well.
We have attended other restaurants not only in Coolum but around the state and we have never had a better dining experience. Highly recommend.

The owner was very welcoming and hospitable who recommended a great bottle of white greek wine that was well received. I recommend the moussaka, the lamb was tender and moist and presented well but needed some extra flavour. The staff were lovely and we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Had good food here 2 years ago, but disappointing this time. Entrees were great. Unfortunately chicken skewers were overcooked and bottom portion of moussaka was burnt and inedible. The slow cooked lamb, however, was nice. The table itself was sticky and we asked for it to be cleaned. The service seemed rushed - the host seemed happy but more interested to get people through the door than actually engage with guests - for the price that's disappointing... And no check on the food or our experience. That I wouldn't mind so much, but afterwards my wife and I were both quite I'll. I suspect the olives entree, the only thing we both had that or kids didn't. Won't be back.
