Worth the hype, quite the culinary experience! From the moment we walked in we were met warmly and that personal attention stayed with us the entire evening. Clearly bookings are staggered during the evening to avoid delays in service and food delivery and it works a treat. The standard of our dishes was divine, different flavours awakened our taste buds with every mouthful. We shared an entree (fried Camembert with salad) and dessert (chocolate profiteroles) but chose our own mains (fish & duckling). Everything we had was superb. French music plays softly in the background in the restaurant. If you are looking for not your standard fish n chips or steak and chips this place won’t disappoint.

My wife and I spent our 43rd Wedding Anniversary at our local Aegean Waters Restaurant in Hervey Bay. It was our first visit to this restaurant and the experience was more than we imagined it would be. The menu was perfect with delightful choice, and the atmosphere was intimate, and ideally compact without overcrowding and catered for plenty of space between tables. Our conversations were our own, without fear of others hearing. The restaurant host was everything you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. He was attentive and conversed with right balance and not intrusive. We were at complete ease throughout our evening, and were encouraged to relax and enjoy the experience. The meals were prepared and presented professionally, providing taste sensations. This entire evening was a joy from start to finish. Thank you to our host and chef for creating a wonderful memory for our personal milestone. We will frequent your restaurant as diners from here on in. Extremely grateful. Stephen

The Aegean Waters, what a great experience. From the moment we arrived we knew that my wife and I plus 6 friends were in for a special night. As you walk in the door you notice the wonderful decor and the many painted portraits that our Houst Liberty has done. See how many you can recognize? The food that Christian our other Houst prepared for us was perfectly cooked and presented. If you require somewhere to take that special person in your life for an intermate meal, then you cannot get any better than the Aegean Waters. Cheers

Very unwelcoming, I could not recommend this venue. From first entering the restaurant the waitress seemed uninterested in serving us. Our order was taken and a drink brought to the table and then we waited and waited. Our only drinks were finished by the end of the tasteless entrée and we never were offered another. The waitress was too busy talking with another table for over 20 minutes to be concerned with anyone else. I noticed a few other patrons looking disappointed too. 1.5 hours after arrival, the waitress started to take our mains plates away however still no offer for another drink or even dessert. Before she walked away, I asked for the cheque, she gave me raised eyebrows and said sarcastically “ohh”. I felt like leaving without paying.

This restaurant is rated very highly but for the life of me I have no idea why. We booked for 6pm and we’re still waiting to be served at 6:20pm. There was one woman doing the bar and waiting on the tables. Everything just took so long and she was not really interested. We finally ordered and at 7:30pm we were still waiting for what turned out to be one of the most tasteless meals we have had for a long time. McDonalds has more flavour than our meal. My wife had the lamb and I had the duck. Why there was such a delay in the getting our meals we have no idea. One telling thing was that a family walked out because they waited over an hour for their simple fish dish and in the end it was inedible as it was cold and undercooked. I would never recommend this restaurant or would I ever go back. They must give themselves all the awards they have supposedly won.

I took my wife to this small corner French restaurant for the first time as she wanted to go . I was not looking forward to it as not my favourite quinine. From the moment we entered I had to eat my words . The service was delivered by a lovely well informed lady who made us feel extreamly welcome attending our every request . The menu was generous with its selection and visually stimulating. While waiting for our entrees sipping our chosen beverages we were listening to an extensive array of French inspires music and song . The inside of the Aegean Waters is quirky and extreamly visually stimulating. There are many hand painted faces ( painted by our waitress ) displayed high around the walls of which entertained us guessing of whom they were . The tables are well spaced , a left over after covid allowing my wife and I privacy with our conversation . It also allows waitress freedom of movement between tables . The wait for entrees was worth it , delivered in an acceptable time and mouthwatering in appearance . My wife having New Zealand crumbed muscles in garlic butter. I have deep fried Camembert with salad . Very generous in serving size and like every couple trialling one another's meal . YUMMY. Our mains followed approx 30 minutes later ( time to consume more beverages ) and did not disappoint . My wife had a Lamb Noisettes and me a Chicken Kiev. The 4 or so vegetables were the star of the meal and the meats did not disappoint either . After completing mains we were presented with the Desert menu and although feeling full we did not want to miss out on desert as they had been passing our table all night . The Bombe Alaska looked amazing but too large for two full patrons so I selected the Profiteroles Parisenne and the taste was next level , crisp and full of a custard and cream with a generous amount of chocolate in middle to dunk . The best I have had in my 66 years. My wife a Parfait Grand Marnier , presented beautifully with a orange liquor taste ( not for me ) . I finished with a plunger of coffee that gave me 2 lovely strong cups . After being asked by waitress what brought us to Aegean Waters? I explained it was my wife's choice to celebrate our 30th anniversary she disappeared and reappeared with a complementary basket overflowing with cold air vapour ( from dry ice) of hand made chocolates and a chocolate coated strawberrie. This restaurant is amazing and stimulates your sight , hearing and sense of smell. We did observe that most patrons are older and return on a regular basis. Our booking was 7 pm and we left at 9 40 . We too will be returning soon for another relaxed culinary expedition Thank you Aegean Waters Lyle & Lisa

This is one of our "go to" restaurants in Hervey Bay for special occasions. They don't have many tables - it is not a fast-food restaurant - you must book as they fill up fast but it is certainly worth it. Although a "French restaurant" with a unique French interior, the menu is almost one of a kind with retro meals like Carpetbag Steak, Duckling Mandarine, and Filet Mignon etc. We always enjoy our meals here.

I wanted to organise somewhere special for my parents to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in Hervey Bay and couldn't be happier with my decision to book Aegean Waters. I don't usually write reviews but feel the need to as I couldn't be more pleased with the service we received, from my phone booking, to the 3 course meal they thoroughly enjoyed, the atmosphere there and the attentiveness of the maître d'. My folks are picky, especially regarding table service, and they phoned me to share how they thoroughly enjoyed their night, especially the scrumptious 3 course meal and the maître d' who made their night as she was friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed always to appear at the right time to fill their glass or take their order. The husband and wife team (I believe to be the chef and maître d') made their special night even more special! Thank you. Highly recommend for a great night out for delicious food and outstanding table service.

This delightful cosmopolitan French Restaurant is one of our ‘must visit’ venues, in Hervey Bay. The atmosphere and setting are straight out of the South of France, combining to bring an extra dimension to your dining experience. The escargot is my favourite dish but, you’ll soon discover a favourite of your own - with so many delicious offerings to choose from. One aspect that stands out for me is the friendly formality that harks to a bygone era, when visiting such an establishment created a wonderful experience that continues to entice patrons back time after time. Dare I say, these delightful venues are becoming more difficult to find, and it’s one of life’s rewards to be able to visit often.

When I was planning to visit a friend in Hervey Bay, he said ‘I must book the Aegean for dinner’. It didn’t disappoint. The ambience of the restaurant, the menu, the food and the service from staff made the evening very enjoyable and memorable. We had escargot, seafood crepe, carpet bag steak and mandarin duck. All meals were thoroughly enjoyed. While we didn’t have dessert, they looked amazing. Wine was also reasonably priced and there was a good variety to choose from. Thank you Liberty and Christian. We will be back!

I booked on the recommendation of a friend instead of checking Trip Advisor. First mistake. Once seated we ordered our cocktails, 2 whiskey sours. My husband & I know how they are made & how good they taste. We should have realized then what a mistake we had made when we heard the blender wiz. The vegetables served with my overcooked filet mignon were tasty but that was as far as it went for my meal. My husband ordered a carpetbag steak (originally from south Wales, not typically France!) which again was over cooked & served with a side of oysters. It wasn’t deconstructed, it was destroyed. The garlic bread was the only hit of the night. The wine was good but the wine list was pathetic. Absolutely would not recommend this restaurant to anybody we know. Overpriced & did not deliver. The website description grossly exaggerates the dining experience.

Before we even had a chance to say anything we received the rudest greeting ever by the sole waitress there. We should have turned around and walked out than and there to save ourselves further rudeness and coldness from the waitress as well as excessive cost that we wouldn't have blinked an eyelid at had meal been even mildly enjoyable, however the meal was very mediocre and missing love, depth, salt, pepper and fresh herbs. All meat "well done PLUS" which made me realise why the menu included a sentence saying no responsibility for over cooked meat. We absolutely love trying new restaurants of all different cuisines from casual to fine dining. But this was just a big disappointment. Probably wouldn't have bothered to leave a negative review if customer service wasn't so so so rude. Don't visit this restaurant for a special occasion as rude waitress will just ruin it with terribly negative energy and coldness. Decor is terrible, just junk and clutter everywhere, certianly not designed with any class or talent at interior design. The paintings of famous people are unrelated to France or foods. Certainly expect to see this show on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen nightmares any day now. Hopefully the first thing he does is send the waitress packing with the ugly decor and give the Chef some good lessons on cooking any cuisine well.

We dined here for our Anniversary and it was a truly wonderful French dining Experience. Liberty is a quintessential hostess, welcoming, professional and with a cheeky sense of humour. Her chef/ husband cooks traditional French cuisine which is tasty and simply presented, allowing the food to speak for itself. We had a relaxed and enjoyable evening. It was refreshing to dine in an atmosphere where we did not have to shout to hear each other, which is true of most modern restaurants. Loved trying to guess the identity of Liberty’s portrait paintings on the walls. Carolyn & John, Adelaide
