Fresh seafood in a really nice setting. Very casual and authentic. May not suit purists but definitely should be on the list of most people. Bring some hot sauce if you want to spice up the food.

Excellent and wide variety of seafood choices here by the sea, located way out from mainland Kaikoura. This place is prone to birds attacking your food and you will have to constantly cover it with your hand. Food gets cold pretty quick as there was...More

What amazing food. Nothing deep fried, healthy and as fresh as you can get. Chowder and groper delish, shame they didn’t have brown Soda bread for that perfect accompaniment to the gorgeous chowder. Hope they get some sun shade for the tables,

Kaikoura is famous for its crayfish. You must try the BBQ crayfish. It is best to have it at the shop instead of packing it back to your hostel or hotel.

We walked along the Kaikoura peninsula and the BBQ van was located in the right place. Great seafood and the price was decent.

We ordered one crayfish (90 NZ) and one seafood platter (53). I will not comment on the price of the cray fish as it is to reflect the scarcity. But the fish : way over coocked beyond reason. Same goes for mussels and lastly the...More

Crayfish (like small lobster) was served with rice and salad. That is the most expensive dish but the rest was reasonable. The seafood chowder was great and mussels really fresh and juicy. Total bill for our family of 4 was NZ $86 for lunch. Go...More

Had the scallops and grilled fish of the day. Fish was so tough, super overcooked by some teenagers and totally unbeatable. No sauces available to make it more tolerable.. avoid this place!

Description
Recommended by Lonely Planet. Freshly cooks seafood to order on BBQ outdoors. Very good and cheaper than the local restaurants. Everything served in a sandwich or with rice and salad. Open daily weather permitting from 11am
