Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The DP 1 cafe has character for sure, a great welcoming staff and very good food. My wife had a vegetable noodle salad which was served warm and she loved it and I had a bowl of seafood chowder. The chowder was full of all...types of seafood and it was delicious! Would definitely go back here!More

Called in for lunch based on reviews from TripAdvisor. Ordered the custard square and BBQ burger, also based off the reviews. Agree the custard squared is top notch, however not impressed with the burger. The beef pattie seemed to be a supermarket one similar to...an Anglebay pattie. No coleslaw left so had standard lettuce and tomatoes. Sauce was nothing special. Premises was very rustic and I liked it. I would only go back to get a custard square.More

And I don't say that lightly. Custard squares can range from goopy, gelatinous, sugary disasters that make you want to feed them to an unsuspecting pet/acquaintance who annoyed you at some point to heaven in every bite which make you reconsider your travel plans to...include another excuse to visit the cafe where you bought it in the hope that the server has finished their shift/doesnt recognise you. The DP1 custard square is unbeaten, it is worth a trip to Greymouth from wherever you are.More

Really enjoyed the quality of our coffees. A cafe with real character. Near the centre of town. Reminds us of our character cafes in Wellington.

No-frills place but the food never disappoints. We have been coming here for several years now. Barbecue burger is one of the best burgers in the country (according to my other half) and there are always delicious vegetarian options for me. The chef seems to...have a particular talent for soup - definitely worth trying whatever is on offer. Quirky place with local artwork available for sale, relaxed atmosphere.More

OMG I wish we had found DP1 initially. Excellent Wellington-coffee-snob-class coffee. Delicious cheese scones and a good selection of vegan food. Highly recommend.

After a walk on a blustery grey morning I was looking for a coffee and found a good one together with a delicious freshly baked date scone at this easily overlooked little cafe with a different atmosphere from the usual. Highly recommend this place where...we felt welcomed and enjoyed our brief visit.More

An unassuming cafe with casual staff and Formica tables meant we didn’t have great expectations for what we were about to receive. However, the small cappuccino and Moroccan vege soup were both excellent. Well worth the $19.90 I paid. Would definitely return, especially for the...coffee, which was as good as any I’ve had in Tauranga recently and better than the ones I’ve had in Christchurch the last few days.More

My partner and I stopped by for a quick bite to eat while passing through. I was initially impressed by the amount of vegan options they had to offer and the staff were very friendly. We opted for 2x bowls of soup and 2x coffee....Soups were advertised on a chalk board but with no price. (We should have checked), we tapped and paid without paying attention to the price, only realising we had paid $15 for a bowl of soup, ($39.60 for 2x coffee and 2 soups ). Very Disappointed with the portion and one piece of shop bought toast for that price...More

Very friendly staff, cool shabby-chic vibe and great food. Its just across the road from the riverside walkway that takes you past the outdoor museum exhibits, around the boat basin and all the way out to the Southern Breakwater Viewing Platform, so the café is...a great spot to fuel up ahead of that!More

Fantastic. After a single night stopover in Greymouth I was looking for decent coffee. I wandered in and was greeted by the staff. I asked if they did bulletproof coffee and on a quizzical look I explained and got “oh you mean keto coffee!? No...we don’t but we can”. I ordered two. One for my travel mug and one for immediately. I bought some other things which meant my hands were full and I needed to do two trips out so the lovely staff member carried my drinks to the car for me. Excellent service and excellent coffee that got me right through the drive to the Picton ferry.More
