Very friendly and a huge step up from most places in the city. Just a couple of k's toward Kamo in a suburban shopping centre this place could easily be missed between the dairy and takeaway outlets! Perfect steak and crunchy veges were an ideal match for a glass of decent red from the impressive selection. Will definitely be back... More

We recently went to this restaurant on a sunday night when they have a set menu ie 2x courses $38 and 3x courses $48 which is good value. We booked a table for four on Sunday afternoon not really expecting to be able to get in but thought we would give it a shot, as going by past experiece at... More

Tonic is one of the better restaurants in Whangarei, but I am not in a hurry to go back. Last time we visited the Chef would not consider cooking my pork how I like to eat it. On the menu he had pork cooked rare, and when I asked the waitress to have mine cooked through, it was suggested the... More

The food at Tonic is absolutely divine. Intimate dining at its best. Treat yourself. It is well worth it. Ten out of ten.

My husband and I visited Tonic to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We came last year and had a wonderful meal. This year the meal was very tasty but not superb. Maybe it's time for a new menu.

The food at Tonic is second to none, delicious but small portions on the main so a couple of sides is recommended, the mushrooms are amazing. The ambience leaves a little to be desired it feels a bit sterile and the art and decor is a bit 90's. The background music was indecipherable. The service was good but there was... More

We had a birthday party there and the food was great, service was good, a bit cramped for my liking, and I didn't like the tip jar on the counter although we did tip but overall very good

This was an unprentious restaurant in a suburban group of retail shops that provided great service and fantastic food.

Very noisy because of the solid walls with no sound absorbing features. Small portions at high prices, and quite squashed layout. Food tasted ok.

This busy little bar restaurant does surprisingly high quality fine dining in nice surroundings, and there is plenty on the plate without any sides.
