I was delighted with the exceptionally accomodating staff at Shiraz. Being vegan, I am always unsure as to how any place will respond to my needs and Shiraz went above and beyond! They suggested a few options and how they could alter their dishes to fit my needs. I had a delicious vegetable curry made fully with coconut milk and... More

I have been here three times now and have been happy with the quality of the food and service every time. The staff are friendly and helpful, happy to give their suggestions and very polite. They also have a very interesting selection of Indian sweets which is a nice touch - the cabinet is full of colourful and pretty slices.

After the positive comments here we thought we would give this a try. Wrong decision. The curry of the house was so oily I couldn't eat it, my partners was the same. The naan bread was undercooked and tasteless (meant to be garlic). Service was friendly but food poor. Won't be returning.

I wouldn't give this man business ever again. We (4 of us) went for lunch, the place is empty, we were about to sit down and he has us grab another table on the other side of the room without a 'hello' or 'good afternoon,' nothing. We sat down and he didn't ask us what we wanted to drink. We... More

Great service, food served on hot plates - other restaurants please take note this is how food should be served. Butter Chicken cooked fresh and was fine - Nans however were fantastic.

We (2 adults & 2 children) have had dinner at Shiraz before, however tonight was a first for us to takeaway our meals. If you're planning to eat in during the holiday I would recommend booking a table as they're very popular. Because of this we learnt that it pays to phone your order ahead of time as it took... I chose the lunch special, which included 3 side dishes with a butter chicken main and garlic narn. For drink, I had a delicious mango larsa. Shiraz serves up the best butter chicken in town, my colleagues thoroughly enjoyed the lunch experience as well, we'll be back.

Description
Shiraz Indian Restaurant was the first truly successful Indian restaurant established in Whangarei. We have pleasure in bringing you the finest ethnic cuisine which evokes nostalgia of a glorious bygone era! Jaswant Singh and his team bring you the spicy, tantilising taste of India with a menu large and diverse enough for you to return again and again without ever tasting the same dish twice! You choose the degree of spiciness whenh you order either at the restaurant or for your home delivery. Traditional dishes from the best of authentic Mughlai and North Indian cuisine are there to tempt you, whether they be chicken, lamb, beef, seafood or one of many vegetarian dishes. Don't be concerned if you don't think you can cope with a hot, spicey curry as mild curries are available for those with a more sensitive palate. If you're feeling brave, try a hot Beef Vindalloo! As well as a huge range of curries, Shiraz offers a large selection of Indian breads and entrees to round out your meal. And after your meal perhaps a bowl of mango ice-cream would be nice to finish? Bookings are not essential but it is a good idea to call in advance as some nights are busier than others. SHIRAZ is a lisenced restaurant and has an excellent range of wines, NZ & Indian beers. SHIRAZ can be found in; Whangarei, Kamo and Dargaville. 5 Reasons why you'll have a great time at Shiraz 1. You'll have delicious freshly prepared chicken, lamb, beef, seafood and vegetarian dishes. 2. Your meal is prepared with the finest fresh locally sourced vegetables and dairy products. 3. Awarded A+ Merit food licence for food safety, cleanliness & training programmes. 4. Have a family friendly restaurant and children's menu. 5. Guaranteed you'll leave satisfied... Simple.
