A delightful authentic italian restaurant on the main street in Margaret River. Strongly recommend booking in advance to secure a booking (This place is booked out most nights, many people turned away when just walking in without a reservation). The Pasta's + Pizza's never disappoint, whilst the Cannoli dessert is a real winner. Was a tad disappointed in a few wines (by the glass) not being available this visit, but the food was superb as always.

We accidentally came across this beauty during our stay at Margaret River. It was during week night and we did not have a booking but the guy (sorry I forgot his name) let us in as we promised that we'd leave as soon as we have our food. We had the salt and pepper squid and the pasta to share. Food was amazingly delicious. Servings were quite generous. We also had time to order desserts as the patrons who had booked the table were running late. My husband had Tiramisu which he totally enjoyed and I had Vanilla Gelato which was equally good. But you definitely need to make a reservation irrespective of the night you go in.

We were staying in Margret River, and some friends were also staying nearby, so we ask a friend for a recommendation and she mentioned La Scarpetta Trattoria, for dinner, the night before we had dinner at a local pub, but surprisingly not as cheap as you may expect so after dinner at La Scarpetta Trattoria three courses each plus 4 glasses of the house wine, our bill worked out much better than the equivalent at the pub. The service was very good, yes we had to book, the home hade pasta was appreciated as was the scotch fillet, starters we have an antipasti selection. three pasta courses for mains and one scotch fillet, three desserts. one of them was shared. nothing was an issue, the splitting of the bill was no problem, we offered a tip, and yes we will go back

This restaurant was such a disappointment. I’m perplexed why this place has so many good reviews ?! I rarely write reviews but I feel this needs to be said. The pasta was one of worst meals I’ve eaten. I ordered the mushroom tortellini ($36) which was the size of an entree. These supposed to be served in butter and sage sauce but that was completely missing. Watery tortellini on a plate. My partner ordered the wild boar ragu.($36) It should have been named card board ragu. The measly small pieces of boar were chewy & dry. The sauce had none of the flavours advertised on the menu. Upon fixing the bill we’ve let our waiter know how disappointed we were with our meals. He jokingly dismissed our concerns. The only positive was the cute decor. Stay away if you are a foodie.

I've been going to Scarpetta for years, but last night I was really disappointed with Scarpetta's rigid 2 hour sitting policy. We literally got booted with our glasses half full, with no option of dessert or coffee. Take the money though, here have a tip too!!! I've waitressed in more than 5 countries over a 17 year period. The concept of kicking people out while they are still in the middle of dining seems a bit rough and not conducive with the joy vibes of sharing a meal with friends in a relaxed environment. Yip, I am aware why they do it, for 2 sittings and I appreciate that a business needs to make money. Yip, I am aware they state it in their booking form. However, we were abruptly moved on, shuffled to the entrance, right next to a random table of diners who were trying to enjoy their meal tucked in a draughty corner. It was awkward. Even if they had provided somewhere nice for us to stand and finish our drinks, and have a coffee, I am questioning the business model, and recognise that I have a choice to not frequent the restaurants that instil such rigid rules. Kind regards, Eva

Hello Eva, Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your experience at La Scarpetta. Unfortunately, regarding the two hours limit, we promise we don’t take any pleasure in telling our customers that the table is rebooked, but we make sure we tell everyone about it and it only applies to our first sitting. When booking online, it is in fact a policy our customers need to agree to in order to secure the booking and since your reservation was made online you would have been aware of the time restriction. This is quite common in most hospitality venues especially those of a smaller size in order to accommodate demand as well as making it viable for us to remain in business. We do however make accommodation for longer sittings where possible if you had reached out and told us this was a concern for you. We hope we can welcome you at La Scarpetta sometime soon.

We we’re welcomed into this lovely restaurant and we eventually got the table we had booked. We were very strongly recommendedl a pasta dish Cavvatelli alla ciccio. After enjoying two fab cocktails our food arrived. A bowl of stodgy macaroni type pasta with some crumbled ham on top. I really couldn’t struggle though this so after two bites I asked very politely to change my order to a steak. What followed was a battle with the manager as he told me that we would be charged full price for the uneaten meal as the chef thought it was fine. Eventually he agreed to charge us half. I received a very fine steak which was delicious. Unfortunately following an equally enthusiastic recommendation the gentleman sitting alone next to us ordered the same pasta dish …… His response was that this place’s name didn’t live up to the quality of the food….. He said the dish reminded him of porridge and left half uneaten. Never have I had to enter into negotiations with a restaurant manager in an effort to be fairly treated in a restaurant. In Ireland we try to please our consumers not make the feel embarrassed and disrespected. Left with a bad taste in my mouth all round! Jennifer Stein

This restaurant used to be one of our favourites but we won’t be returning. Food was very average, poor quality tomatoes on the bruschetta with little flavour, fish pasta lacked flavour and texture with only the odd piece of fish which was dry. Charging $8 for in house sparkling water is ridiculous when it’s just tap water which has been carbonated. My partners steak and potatoes were as expected.

In a veillote atmosphere our table stuck to our hands and elbows as if it had been poorly cleaned, the crumpled cards were not of the first youth and we felt that they had been passed through many hands, the fried squid just adequate and the pasta cooked just about right. correct. the Cullen rosé wine from the region was sweet but not mentioned on the menu as sweet while in the Wine by the glass category the roses offered were all specified sweet while the one chosen in the end was dry! Which led us to order a sweet $55 bottle of rosé! And it is not possible to go back, the staff refusing even though the fault lay with them due to the fact that the card was incorrectly entered. So I am not satisfied with my experience and will not return

Never have I been unable to eat any portion of a familiar dish presented to me at a restaurant, but it happened here. Surrounds, atmosphere, service from waiting staff all satisfactory, but when it is obvious that a customer, exercising discretion, has a problem, and the business fails in any way to address this, you know the business is placing its interests disproportionately ahead of its customer. If I was operating a higher end restaurant and a customer only has 2 mouthfuls, it would seem only appropriate that you would attempt to rescue the situation…somehow….no alternatives offered and in the end fully charged. This is a joint not interested in looking after their customer at all. Fee for no service

Well what can I say. They said the ingredients were fresh, they were not. My wife had a spaghetti dish with dory and it was just bland no flavour at all. I had a beef pasta dish , beef was ok but the sauce was just gravy like, no flavour what so ever even when I added salt and pepper it seem to make no difference. There were lots of Italians working there but clearly no Chefs. If you see a good review it is obviously from the owners or an employee. I don't usually complain but I felt I had to say something to the person who took my money, he tried to say that it was all freshly made and I told him it was not and that I could alot better myself. As the great Michael Caine would say, " your supposed to put the bloody flavour in " Save your money and buy a pie from the service station next door. Ian H.

Anniversary meal with friends whilst staying in Mgt river and we were keen to try La Scarpetta. The restaurant is very quaint and we were greeted warmly. We couldn't fault the service, but the food was really quite average and overall lacked flavour and for $30 for each pasta dish we expected it to be better. The lamb pasta was deemed average, the ravioli "ok" and the Gnocchi with gorgonzola was quite bland and disappointing. Sadly, we were all left feeling a little underwhelmed.

Service was friendly. Calamari , and eggplant side dish were both nice. We ordered the slow cooked lamb shoulder pasta and it was disgusting !! That plate should not have been allowed to leave the kitchen. No meat in the dish just big chunks of slimy fat. We complained (and they agreed) and offered replacements which were ok. We should have at least got our meals for 1/2 price or free seeing as that was what we went there for. I can’t see what the attraction is here. Would not recommend.. ever !!

This Italian restaurant is situated in an amazing looking building at the entrance to Margaret River. We were met by a very friendly Italian guy who showed us to our table. Service overall was good although it got a bit hit and miss by the time we had finished our mains. We had very tasty garlic bread to start (3 pieces per serve) and then waited for our mains which arrived fairly quickly. Our wine was good and not too expensive given the amount of wine in each glass. Our side of salad (peppers, soft cheese, lettuce, walnut etc.) was very nice and well dressed. My wife's gnocchi with Gorgonzola was tasty and very filling. She was forced to leave some much to her chagrin. My boiled pig's trotter (yes, I know!) was stuffed with pork, Italian sausage and vegetables and served on a bed of lentils. It was sliced although the end of the trotter with its bones and sinew obviously wasn't. It was extremely filling given the dense nature of the stuffing. An experience - which I think one should always look for in a restaurant. It was surprisingly tasty. We'd visit again although I'd go with one of the tasty looking pastas next time.

Few pasta choices, mentioned as homemade, but 40 minutes waiting for 2 pasta dishes on a Monday night! In the end, bolognese of any kind and pasta with mushrooms bathed in oil and without taste. Nevertheless, the team listened to the feedback and did its best to catch up but could not work miracles. Note: no pizza but next to another Italian offering pizza

Authentic, delicious Italian food. We ordered stewed beef homemade pasta, Arrabiata sauce pasta and fish dish. The food taste good but main complaint is we thought the Arrabiata pasta is a seafood marinara dish except that there is no seafood for the price that we paid (Aud 37)! Just plain tomato sauce pasta.
