Morries serves 'tapas' with a modern twist - so far so exciting - stand out dish for us was the octopus - well cooked and with a lovely sauce. Disappointed in the croquettes which hadn't all been cooked through so were cold in the centre along the prawn toast- which should have been called prawns on a mini bagel - note to chef - make the bread element thinner - the prawns are the star not the stodgy bread. Portion control on the Jerusalem Artichokes was stingy - 6 halves of small jerusalem artichokes with a sprinkle of crispy onions doesn't cut it. The wine is very expensive which is a shame given that the restaurant does look to showcase wines predominantly from the Margeret River area. I would rate the food at a 3 but service was good so rated this as a 4 overall but to pay AUD 110 for 6 small plates made this meal rather overpriced in our view.

Recommend to us by the host of our B & B . The tapas on offer was very varied and the quality and presentation was excellent. Our waitress was very welcoming and gave a good explanation of the dishes . Comfort factor of the surroundings was ok it’s quite noisy and it clearly shuts sharp at 9 pm so no lingering beyond 9 pm . I would have marked this 5 star but two things let them down , the waitress knew nothing about an apparent discount scheme our B & B host advised us of (allegedly 10%) and most disappointing said they couldn’t phone us a taxi (visiting from the UK) she gave us a phone number however we tried 2 taxi company’s from outside in the street (as they were closing ) both taxis said they were closed at 5 pm !!! We were pretty much stranded …bill for 4 adults 3 dishes each plus wine for 3 adults $500 so a considered visit . We were extremely lucky we phoned our B & B host Dirk who came and picked us up so do bear in mind how difficult it is to get taxis which ruined our otherwise lovely evening.

Superb meal, walked in last minute with no booking, no table available as they were very busy and very few other places in town seemed to be open. They said we could wait at the bar, a table never became available but we just ordered drinks and our food at the bar - proper tapas style! The food and the wines were incredible. The snapper ceviche and the steak skirt skewer in particular were superb. The beef tartare was delicious too and we also had the broccolini which were deliciously prepared and Buñelloes with were also great. I had a local Shiraz and my wife had sparkling wine, also both superb. Staff were friendly and helpful, barmaid in particular, (whose name I didn’t get but who was pregnant) was very helpful giving some very good local advice to my wife about cycling as well as looking after us perfectly, while seeming to co-ordinate the front of house team and keeping everyone at the bar well watered and fed too! 1st class meal. Great service.

We went to Morries because of the high rating/reviews, but thought the it was quite average overall. 3 "pluses": 1. decent ambience; 2. reasonable service quality; 3. steak was pretty good (though for "medium rare" it was a bit overcooked. 3 "minuses". 1. small portions (truly spanish "tapas portion but $20 plus per dish instead of $5 euro you'd pay in Spain) - so you need to order 5/6 entrees and naturally total bill much more than the menu would indicate otherwise; 2. presentation was good, but quality was average (the pork belly sauce, while nicely cooked, reminiscent of chinese sweet/sour pork; 3. I ordered a glass of red wine ($13) - the pour was a bit stingy (small glass with 1/3 full), a bit underwhelming especially given that Margaret River is one of the most famous wine regions in Australia

March 2024 Heard great reviews about Morries but it was so poor and disappointing. It's too dark and barely possible to see the menu. The young lady who served us was really friendly which was great. We ordered potatoes which were soggy in the middle when they came and looked as if they'd been dropped in the fryer several times ... not good. Then came the skirt steak for mains. It was so chewy I couldn't eat it. I told our waitress that it was inedible and that I wished to send it back. She politely informed me that skirt steak was a cheaper cut and can be a little tough sometimes. I asked if the chef would normally serve tough steak to customers and after 40 odd years of eating steak this was a first for me and that tough chewy steak was served to paying customers. I further informed her that it would be a good idea to let diners know this before ordering !! The portion of green beans were good however. All in all a very disappointing experience after all the hype.

Was really disappointed after visiting the previous year and having an amazing experience. The food was average at best, the customer service worse. Considering the cost of the tapas I was expecting quality - the food was chewy, overcooked and underwhelming. Each tapas that came out seemed to get worse and by the end I was glad to leave. Had to ask several times to allow us to read the menu, staff would ask how the meal was but walk off before you could answer, plates were dumped on the table without conversation.

As soon as we arrived we were shown to our table and offered water and drinks which came in the blink of an eye. The staff were wonderful friendly and helpful. We ordered our food from the menu. As it is a sharing menu we ordered about 10 items to share for the four of us. The food arrived very quickly one or two dishes at a time. Before we had time to blink all the food had arrived and although very tasty the portions were quite small for the amount paid. We were in and out in slightly less than an hour and had really no time to enjoy the atmosphere. Beautiful place great service but they need to bring out food in a way that customers have time to savour and enjoy!

Moderately priced for region, local produce provided delicious foods for all to try. 3-4 plates per person satisfied the appetite with supporting cocktails, in an ambient atmosphere for couples to enjoy. Suggest booking to avoid disappointment.

We’ve been coming to Morries for a while now and we’re excited about our visit for dinner last Saturday but I gotta say, we were actually a bit disappointed this time. It felt more rushed than usual and there was not the usual vibrant but relaxed feel as before. They’re busy to be sure, but this whole ‘get in, eat and get out’ thing (that a lot of places in the Margaret River region have got going on now) is not very welcoming and you definitely feel as though you’re no more than the time slot you’ve been allocated.. so sit, order, eat, then leave.. so the next time allocation can have the table. Oddly enough, the food didn’t taste as good as it normally does either, even though the menu’s the same.. and can someone please explain why they would completely change the recipe for an Espresso Martini but still call it that? We’ve had many Espresso Martini’s at Morries before but these ones were awful. When questioned about the change in ingredients we were told ‘we thought we’d do something different’.. which is fine, but then tell us beforehand or call the cocktail something different.. just don’t charge us 18 bucks a glass for something we didn’t ask for. Pretty disappointed with our visit this time. I know Morries don’t need our patronage to survive but it would be nice to come and feel some of that pre Covid love again.

Hi Jody! Thank you for taking your time to provide us with feedback. We greatly appreciate it, as we always strive to improve. I'm sorry to hear you think love is lacking at morries, as we pride ourselves with a team of 15 people putting nothing but love into the restaurant. We have not changed our espresso martini recipe, it is still the same one as in 2012. I think there must have been a misunderstanding; I have spoken to the team and they referred to our espresso martini being 'different' from the classic recipe. Please don't hesitate to ask our staff for a new cocktail if there is something wrong with the one you received, potentially a mistake has been made when labelling the bottles. I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy our delicious espresso martini. Please contact me on petra@morries.com.au and I'll ensure you get one on the house next time you visit Margaret River. In regards to our sitting time, we have been having 90 minutes sittings for years now. Occasionally some guests find this too short, we will then try to find a seat in the bar or lounge area for them. One of our friendly staff is always happy to help you out with this! Thanks again for your feedback and hope to see you again.

Well the food was very nice. The service was non existent, which for a tapas restaurant doesn’t work! We had to find a waitress to place our first order and that was it other than serving us our dishes no one came to ask us if we wanted more which we did obviously but the service just never came. My advice don’t sit out on the front terrace the staff will forget you exist.

Morries is clearly THE place to be in Margaret River. Very trendy with loads of young oomph and was packed on a Tuesday evening. The food is outstanding - tapas style dining with a wide and interesting selection of very well prepared and presented dishes: the duck pâté and pumpkin dishes especially recommended. The service was quick and gracious, even though the staff were working very hard in an extremely busy restaurant. The only downside was the eye-watering markup on the wines: a $21 Riesling in the liquor store on the high street selling for $80 in Morries seems a little steep. We didn’t have wine, which was a shame. Overall however, an interesting culinary experience.

Hi dingtonia, We are so glad to hear you enjoyed our establishment's ambience, food and service! Our servers, bar and kitchen team are proud to be some of the hardest workers with the biggest smiles around and to hear you compliment that makes us all here at Morries very happy. It's a shame to hear you decided against grabbing a wine to go along with your tapas whilst you were here, but I thought I could take this opportunity to highlight our reasoning behind the price points of our wines, and in particular the 2015 Leeuwin Estate 'Art Series' Riesling. We take great pride in showcasing some of the amazing talent that is present in this wine region and through great standing relationships with these winemakers, we source back vintages that are seldom available in other restaurants and nigh impossible to find in a bottle shop. In this case, the 2015 for this riesling is an absolute belter of a vintage and if taking into account standard markup for what we pay for it (including wages and other overhead) we are actually losing money on this particular wine. I hope this helps with your understanding of the price point for this wine and others on our list. Once again, thank you so much for coming in and being a part of our fun little part of this region and really look forward to having you back in, in the future. Kind regards, Morries team

Fortunately we had a 10% discount coupon. We arrived early, and were seated promptly. Fortunately we both had iPhones, as we needed to use the torches to see the menu. We were introduced to our server, who appeared to take the order after the owner or manager had taken it. We had been told the cocktails were excellent so ordered two as well as our wine and food. The first 2 dishes arrived before the cocktails, which spoiled the enjoyment of the cocktails. The wine order was forgotten, and so did not arrive until we were half way through the penultimate dish. We decided to finish the meal with affogato - it came, coffee separate and the glass the ice cream was in too small to hold ice cream and coffee - I hate to think of the mess had we ordered a spirit to go with it. The table was too small for this style of dining. Water, two drinks and two dishes plus the obligatory candle and there was no room to move. Made the service feel rushed as the pressure was on to finish before the next plate arrived. Overall food was good, but three slices of bread for $14, four prawns costing $26 and four or five florets of cauliflower $15! Very costly for what we received. Needs more attention to detail, better lighting and attention to detail. A couple of tables fewer and having space for food and drink would make all the difference.

We absolutely loved this groovy local bar/restaurant & easily the best foodie experience so far in WA. The service was friendly & professional, happy hour offers were fantastic value, menu far more interesting than all the other local venues we had tried….and the dishes were just delicious!!! Put this on top of your list and book ahead because it’s clearly popular with the locals…

We had read some good reviews about this restaurant and the fact that it was busy on the couple of nights that we walked past it before we dined there all bode well. We had a booking for 6-30pm and arrived on time. We were quickly seated inside against the side wall opposite the bar and given menus. Unfortunately, given that it was fairly full, it was also fairly noisy. Menu had some interesting looking tapas dishes that were all reasonably priced. At the time we didn't pay much attention to the footnote to the menu that stated "please note that food will arrive from the kitchen in no particular order, whenever it is ready". No problems, we just didn't expect it all to subsequently arrive in the space of a few minutes. About three minutes after we were seated we were asked what would we like to order. Can we have a bit more time? Less than three minutes later our waitress returned. We felt very rushed but ordered both our food and a bottle of wine. As stated previously all of the dishes that we ordered whether hot or cold arrived within the space of 10 minutes from when our order was taken. The dishes were jammed onto our small table in front of us along with two glasses and the bottle of wine. We ordered the snapper crudo, beef tartare, the pork belly, the duck bao buns and the roast pumpkin. Overall the food was fine but there was not a lot of time to savour it . Our picks were the pork belly and the beef tartare. As we finished each dish the empty plate was quickly whisked away which was fine as it made more room. As the last plate was removed our waitress asked would we like dessert? We had been there for just over 25 minutes at this stage and still had more than a half a bottle of wine to drink. Two further visits for our dessert order. We passed on both and finished our wine. The time on our bill as we paid stated 19.06-46. We had been there from start to finish for 37 minutes, well within the 90 minutes allocated between sittings. Unfortunately it was not a very relaxing enjoyable evening. In fact it was the complete opposite.

Lovely restaurant. Food was quality, particularly the beef tataki, the eggplant, and the chocolate fudge dessert. It is a tapas style restaurant with sharing plates. The service was excellent. Our server (who’s name escapes me but had an English accent) was attentive and warm, and looked after us very well. The lighting and decor lends itself to a beautiful ambiance. We had a really memorable night there and I’d recommend it to anyone passing through Margaret River. 10/10
