Fitzrovia is the best cafe/restaurant in St Kilda, if not Melbourne. The coffee is always good, as is the menu. There's a great selection of hot and cold dishes, it's possible to enjoy everything from a pastry to a full meal with drinks. But the BEST thing is the delightful team of people. All are friendly and efficient. I can strongly recommend a visit, you'll be happy!

Fitzrovia has been helping us through stage 4 restrictions with a huge range of home cooked meals delivered free. The quality is on another level. I’ve still been calling in most days for coffee and take away lunch, it’s great to connect with a friendly face. It’s good to know some things never change!

Omg Fitzrovia rule the waves on Fitzroy Street. Even on lockdown they are producing the most amazing take away food. Toasties to die for, freshly baked cakes, juices, muffins, sausage rolls, pies salads omg great coffee and always with amazing staff that genuinely care about their costumer and their job. My wife always want To Stop here when we drive by!

My friend and I came here for breakfast as we heard good reviews from friends. The manager came over, we gave our order but he didn’t write any of it down. We ordered 2 lattes, 2 breakfast brioche and 2 sides of chips. My friend got her brioche and the waitress tried to give me a salad I didn’t order. I told her I ordered the same as my friend and she walked away confused. A waiter came with our chips and the waitress was behind him with the salad and tried to push the salad to me again. I explained to the both of them it wasn’t what I ordered and the manager came over. He apologised for the confusion and eventually I got what I wanted. We realised we never got our lattes and my friend asked the manager if we could get our lattes and he said “you wanted lattes” and went and got our lattes. Food was ok, the chips were lovely and crispy and our lattes were nice and hot. We went to the till and the manager served us. He tried to charge us for a salad we didn’t order and 4 lattes. We told him we didnt’t get our original lattes which is why my friend had to ask and the confusion was on his end. The manager should learn how to write orders on paper and not make a liar out of his customers. The service was awful and we both won’t be returning.

I love Fitzrovia, great food always, I've been coming in on visits to Melbourne for about three years now. Never had a bad experience from coffee mornings to full lunch service it has always been a delightful destination. Today however was different, despite booking in advance my companion and I were treated as a nuisance from the get go. We were a lunch booking, not late, not early. The service was so poor, and from both waitstaff too. We were made to feel inconvenient, there was no politeness in the table service and on paying I was shocked by the curt response of the second waitstaff. The waitstaff made it clear that any attention required was a bother, we even felt bad staying for a tea after our meal so decided to change our orderinto takeaways..the waitstaff actually rolled their eyes at our request even though we made the transfer of the tea to the takeaway containers ourselves. The food was wonderful and I think the restaurant owners and chefs deserve to know that their staff let them down. Very disappointing experience from an otherwise wonderful place.

Hi Paul. I am writing to let you know that we will NEVER be coming to your establishment again. We are so disappointed & actually very annoyed at the way we were treated by none other than your long standing waiter Marco. He couldn’t be bothered even being polite but I’m so angry at wasting my time & my hard earned money on an average lunch at best. Firstly, we ordered 2 coffees to be served in takeaway cups, but they came out in the ceramic cups we hate. Secondly, the main courses came out before we’d even finished our entree. Leeroy offered to take them back to the kitchen, but I knew they’d just sit there going cold, so we started the mains. My gnocchi was luke warm at best so Leeroy took it back the kitchen where it was “Nuked”. I did not finish it. Also, the size of the bread served with the eggs was ridiculous! If it wasn’t for Leeroy, we would’ve walked out earlier. SHE was the saving grace. My partner who’s birthday we were celebrating knows not of the “Surprise” we had tried to organise and this only adds to my anger. I have wasted $78 & I’m not happy & will be reviewing as such. Marco needs to change his attitude. Paul, I’ve worked in hospitality for 30 odd years & regardless of whatever was going on in my life at the time, I HAD to be hospitable. HE was not.

Dined in yesterday, 12 Dec for an early Christmas with 5 other friends. The food was amazing as usual. Not my first time eating there. However, the man serving our food (we were seated in the second floor) was so rude! He definitely had an attitude, like he couldn’t be bothered serving our food. He would just, for lack of a better term, drop the plate right in front of us. And I could tell he was getting annoyed serving all the food. It wasn’t just me who noticed his attitude. Pretty much of all of us did so I know it wasn’t an isolated case. Could tell there was some conscious customer preferences as he was smiling and making small talk with the next table. Needless to say, though food was good and the 2 other ladies serving us were so nice and patient, would not be dining here again.

I went for brunch with our family group. I had checked the night before that they had vegan and gluten free options - I know difficult person! The option was a muesli and fruit. I asked for gluten free bread, tomatoes and mushrooms but mushrooms and tomato done in butter. Lovely waitress said they could do tomatoes fresh. Ok and spinach - they could do that fresh too. Avocado they could do without the feta. When plate came out half an avocado, four thin slices of raw tomato and half a plate of raw spinach out of the bag with slimy bits in it. I was so disappointed. Staff and coffee were fine.

Without a doubt this Cafe is the best Cafe and restaurant in St. Kilda and has few equals in Melbourne. The coffee is by St. Ali and never fails to please. The food is interesting, fresh, local and most importantly, really tasty. The owner, Darren, and his team really know how to look after the guests. Service is always prompt yet friendly. There's a great vibe whether inside or outside, a perfect spot for people watching. Strongly recommended. Don't miss this gem!

Staying in the nearby hotel, our family chose to have breakfast here. The staff were friendly and provded great service. The breakfast menu, including coffee, was good, the servings hearty and all dishes that we ordered were tasty and appealing to the eye. Would definitely dine here again.

Friends had told us about Fitrovia’s coffee so we couldn’t wait for our chance to experience it. This cafe is quintessential St Kilda! Located central Fitzroy St with all the quirk of that fabulous street and with the polish and professionalism of a well run machine. The coffee is fabulous. The menu simple, varied and delicious. The premises are a renovated stunning St Kilda period mansion with soaring metal pressed ceilings and enough detail to remind us we are in this majestic suburb but also some juxtaposition with modern updates to present classic grandeur with shiny, clean. Saving the best til last - the staff! Motivated, passionate, energetic and plenty of them. A happy place for a quick bite or leisurely catch up over a Bloody Mary!

On previous visits to st kilda we had for some reason chosen to dine nearer the sea front. We had sen Fitzrovia mentioned on st Kilda today many times and were not disappointed. Well presented food, nice wines and good service.

We went here accidentally when we were at the St Kilda music festival and it was the most incredible outcome we could have asked for. Food and service were equally incredible. You need to experience this place, it epitomises Melbourne!

I took a 20 mins Uber to visit this place because it came recommended. The menu looked good, but even though the staff looked like nice people, all of them kept running about. No-one seemed to have a specific focus. For more than 35 minutes, I tried to get anyone's attention, but no one appeared to notice that I wanted to order. Of course I could have gotten up to grab someone, but I decided to leave because I was sitting in the back room which has such horrendous acoustics, that everyone was screaming louder and louder to be able to communicate with each other. So I grabbed my coat and left. None of the staff seemed to wonder why...

I will never again come back here as the owner is rude. Buddy don't be in hospitality if you don't know how to talk to people. Out of no where he decides he needs the table and tells me to vacate in 10 mins, mind you the guy next to me with a laptop, is not asked. I think he has something against someone having a tart then reading their book. Never again...sorry to the staff members as they were all nice and friendly.
