There's nothing innovative or new about this French restaurant. It's all good traditional food - well presented and well prepared. Whether it's pate or escargot, canard a l'orange or bouillabaisse, you won't be disappointed. We sat out in the pleasant, private courtyard, were well looked after by our young (admittedly Italian) waiter and enjoyed our night out.

Chanced upon this restaurant while strolling through Fitzroy street in St. Kilda looking for a place to have dinner. We were attracted by the quaint look of this small restaurant and decided to try it out. The food was fantastic. My wife ordered the lobster and prawn ravioli which she thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the steak and it was possibly... More

It doesn't look like much from the outside, and let's face it, this part of Fitzroy Street isn't the best part (although it is lively!) of St. Kilda. But, Embassy@97 was a pleasant surprise. Crisp white tablecloths (ordinary cutlery, crockery and glassware) create a pleasant first impression and in addition to the small inside area there is a small courtyard... More

Took the usual punt of wandering down a street and checking out reviews. This place was give it a chance and see how it turned out. Good solid four stars that with some work could get up into cult status. It is truly French rather than Aussie French so park your Aussie expectation on plate size. It is more a... More

I got given a Birthday voucher to dine at Embassy 97 from Groupon. Upon calling to make reservations, the lady on the other line, asked "when would you like to make a booking? " and I said, "Next Sunday". She was a about to say, "yes..there is .." but she stopped and said instead," have you got a voucher?" I... More

Last evening we arrived at this restaurant early after booking with a Groupon voucher. We were invited to sit outside on this balmy night and enjoy a drink. For an entree we shared the escargot (not part of the voucher) ver enjoyable, then we both had the beef Wellington with sliced potatoes with rosemary, and a creamy mushroom sauce as... More

It may be a small restaurant with an interesting history hidden away in Fitzroy St. St Kilda, but it offers a great authentic range of French cooking to tempt your taste buds. We have eaten here before as well as the sister restaurant in Williamstowm and could not fault either on service or taste. We commenced our dinner with Smoked... More

Embassy at 97 has lovely, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. There is a giant chalkboard with chalk and colouring pencils and colouring books available for the kids as well as magazines and newspapers for the rest of us. The food is ranging from eggs to focaccia to traditional French food. While there is no specific children's menu, the chef is happy to do smaller portions. There is no charge for baby chinos and they have a great everyday special of coffee with a freshly baked on premises muffin, for $5! Seating is bench-style and there are tables outside: both on the footpath and in a small courtyard, meaning that you can sit with a group. Also of note is that there is a tram-stop directly outside the door.
