Stayed in St Kilda for 4 nights and visited this cafe twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. The interior is cosy, the staff greet you with a friendly smile and service is fast. The coffee is very good and food of high quality and wholesome. Loved their pizza's and we sampled a few different toasties for breakfast topped off with freshly squeezed juices. And best of all this place is not expensive but very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely!

We had a lovely family lunch at The Banff to celebrate our daughter’s engagement. The service was really efficient and friendly, the atmosphere quiet and cosy, and the food delicious and very reasonably priced. We felt relaxed and we’re able to chat easily without any noise distractions. Thoroughly enjoyable and we will return!

Friendly staff and delicious food!

We discovered The Banff on a tour on Fitzroy. What a wonderful experience, the staff greeted us as we walked in the door and handed us menus. Menu was also on the wall. House 10” pizzas were $8 and there were 13 different choices. $5 house wine with other options and on tap beer. Food was delicious and served within 10 minutes We highly recommend trying this cute little place

Can’t please Everybody!! says the waitress!

Dropped in for coffee & cake midweek.Service was a joke! Rude waitress who when I asked for what I ordered rather than what was delivered told me ‘ Can’t please Everybody- you are just fussy!!!!!’ Don’t use Covid as an excuse for slack service in a nearly empty cafe. Have been coming to Banff for many many years but never again! So many great new places in St Kilda that value their customers and know what customer service is all about!

This place is casual and well priced in a sea of upmarket and expensive restaurants in St Kilda. Great wholesome food, generous portions, great price. The staff members were very helpful and welcoming.

Good customer service

Last night we were looking forward to having dinner at the Banff. We had enjoyed a lunch there a few months ago. We ordered one of each of the risottos and a salad. I enjoyed the salad but my creamy mushroom risotto was over salted. I spoke to the guy at the counter and refunded me the cost of that dish. Every restaurant can have a dish that disappoints but if you get a full refund they are doing the right thing. We'll probably go back and I have no desire to put people going there.

Wouldn’t recommend

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The staff are completely inattentive to customers and have the worst attitude. This would be the last place I would go eat in st kilda, go spend your money somewhere enjoyable instead. It’s such a shame that a restaurant in a great location with a nice outdoor area is spoiled by terrible customer service skills.

Great little spot

Needed somewhere to do some work for the morning and have some coffee. The staff here were fabulous and kept the coffee flowing for me. Tasty toasted sandwich for brunch. Loved it here and will travel down from the CBD to visit on future trips. Thanks for your hospitality.

Give The Banff a miss!!!

I don’t know how this place hasn’t been closed down. If you look closely it is filthy even the tiles on the front step as you enter the restaurant are broken. The evening that I went with my friends we saw mice running across the floor, none of the utilities seemed clean. Everything was sticky. The staff had a very bad attitude as if we were annoying them. It took ages to place our order and then only to be served up warm to cold food an hour later. It’s such a shame as many years ago i remember This was a beautiful little French bistro. It appears to be lovely on the outside but not so the evening we were went there was so many drunks out the front drinking jugs of beer and literally screaming. The gentleman in charge behind the bar didn’t seem to take any notice. The toilets are out the back in a car park for the residents. You have to pass to filthy industrial bins of rubbish to get to the toilets. Out the front beside the cafe is an entrance to residential apartments, we witnessed a drug deal being done at the front gate. No one seemed to bat an eyelid. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your money to go here. Also a person from our group got food poisoning. There are far better places in St Kilda and surrounds, DO NOT GO,HERE.

Very underwhelming experience at Banff for breakfast. The menu was uninspiring and the smashed avo was basically guac smeared on some toast. Way better places in St Kilda for breakfast.

Good atmosphere!

A nice simple place where you can get food and drink. Reasonable price level, good quality and Plussaa from the artist who played throughout our long visit. There are others here, so you should come too.

Loved our meals & the vibe!

Cool & Rainy Public Holiday so these interstate tourists were keen for a warm location and some good food, Banff did not disappoint. Just made it for the breakfast menu and our group had a mix of b'fast & lunch dishes - all sensational. The menu seems very extensive and service very fast. All staff were friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere, rustic and quirky decor. Room was quite full but felt cosy and hospitable rather than crowded.

Avoid pasta

Service was excellent. Staff was very helpful but this doesn't make up for overcooked pasta. The pizza was better than the pasta.
