Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The old building with exposed brick walls and Thai decor is nice. The food wasn’t as good as expected. It was the familiar westernised, overly sweet Thai cuisine of Australia. The white paper over the dining tables made it look cheap. I’d prefer to eat...at a table without covering than one that looked like it had butcher’s paper for a craft lesson. I think it could be improved.More

My partner and I were talked about which of the many Chinese restaurants we’d book, when a bloke nearby turned to us and asked if we liked Thai? Yes, we chorused. And he sent us to the Piyawat Thai in Mollison Street. The restaurant is...cosy and beautifully decorated with very good Covid safety. I had my favorite Yum Pla Muk – spicy squid - and my partner had the mixed entrée including “the best curry puff I have ever had”, spring rolls, satay chicken and Goong Hom Pah (prawn spring rolls). For mains it was the Pad Thai and I had the pork and prawn stir fried lime leaf and vegetables. With steamed rice and two Thai beers the more than filling and very tasty meal came to a very reasonable $106.More

I have to unfortunately not concur with the vast majority of positive reviews. I am being honest and comparing the eating experience here to many previous ones eating Thai food. I ordered for entree the tomyum vegetable soup. I was reminded - when first tasting...the soup base- of the tinned tomato soups i ate as a kid, slightly too sweet and couldnt taste any sour such as tamarind, just a very very mild spice base. The veges in the tomyum were fresh. I ate red curry seafood. Honestly I have to say it tasted as of the curry base was a tinned paste variety. No hint of fresh lime leaves nor fresh galangal. And sugary to point where sugar and coconut milk were two main flavours. The seafood in it was fresh and well cooked. I think this restaurant maybe suits people looking for a mild and sweet and westernized version of Thai foodMore

The service and ambience were very good but the food was boring, tasteless, what you would expect in a food court. We left most of the food uneaten.

My family and I have been frequent visitors to Piyawat over the past 7 or so years, that was until I booked dinner their for my birthday.. And then ended up with the WORST food poising of my life. No joke, so bad that my...lips turned blue and I was sent to the ER. Save yourself the hassle. The food isn’t great, nor is it value for money. The flavour has rapidly gone downhill too - my birthday experience was the final straw.. We will never be going back again in fear that this will happen to another family member.More

The Thai food was great and the place itself a cosy converted Victorian house. Very busy but they served us quickly and with a smile. We would definitely go again next time we are up in Bendigo. We had fish cakes, seafood pad Thai, beef...salad and lovely fresh roti. Didn’t bother with rice because of the pad Thai.More

I can't believe that I'm writing this so disappointing review as my family and I have been dinning at Piyawat Thai Restaurant in Bendigo ever since it opened and have come to call this restaurant our favourite by a mile. However last Tuesday evening we...ordered our usual meals which were take a way for my wife's birthday. The 2 entrees were fine, Thai fish cakes and the mixed assorted. My wife's favourite dish stir fried sweet chilli paste and cashews with prawns was tasteless and had no spice to it at all. The stir fried with chicken peanut sauce and garden vegetables was worse, hardly any vegetables and NO peanut sauce at all mainly just chicken peaces, so disappointing, it almost tasted like Chinese food not Thai, bland food. I expect take away to be of the same standard as dine in something that so missing on this occasion . We live out of town so bringing back the food was not an option for us and the cost was certainly on the pricey side. Bendigo is a city of many eating places so after this very disappointing experience will not be back to Piyawat something that saddens us after such a long association with the restaurant. I have travelled to and have lived in Bangkok so I know what real authentic Thai food is, certainly not what you served us. To the not so new owner, you need to do better Sir or you will find we will not be the only customers that will not return if they have the same experience as us.More

Average food, bad service and unfriendly staff. I ordered mix entree which was bland and some egg noodles on the side which lacked the authentic Thai flavor . Several lapses in the service and unfriendly staff did not make it easier. Not worth a visit.

Called at 8pm to see what time they were finishing cooking, I was told 9pm it showed online that they close at 9.30pm, at 8.15 we went into your business for dinner, the 2 girls looked at their phone, we were then told that we...would have to hurry & be quick with ordering. Keep in mind their were still mutiple people sitting at tables, still eating. We ordered immediately, within 10 minutes the music was off & they had started to vacuum before we even had our meal served. Disgusting service. I will never go back- and to think it was my idea to go their with family. I wish they had of just said they had stopped cooking so we could spend our money else where and so we could of had a pleasant dinner.More
