I had lunch here today, and felt 100% safe in these COVID 19 days. Well-distanced tables, plastic menus, and as we expect, fabulous food and wine. The only minor thing was that I had to request serving spoons provided for the rocket and pear salad....people don't want to be dipping into the shared salad with their own cutlery. However, this was a small thing that I am sure they will take on board. Well done Mitchell Harris! As a person who is nervous about socialising in the COVID times, I had a lovely relaxing lunch today.

We had a delicious meal tonight at Mitchell Harris, our first, it was made all the better by our waitress Julia. She guided us through both wine and food choices with intelligence and humour. Having great staff makes for a great experience . We are an older couple with a deep love of both food and wine.We enjoy when staff take time to both share their knowledge and appreciate ours. The food was tasty and had a ‘twist’. We loved the croquettes, Jamon, manchego and truffle and then the succulent chicken skewers, sounds ordinary but they pack flavour, the cheesecake dessert was one of the best desserts I have had in sometime, not too sweet but some zinging flavours from the raspberry. Can’t wait to come back to Ballarat to see what’s cooking next time.

The interior and ambience inside was very welcoming. The staff provided great service (I believe we had Megs serving us). The food was great - we had the $35 set serving, and the wines (rose, sangiovese and shiraz) were also so good that we bought some bottles to take home. We will definitely be back.

Was looking forward to their takeaway for dinner plus some left over. I was stunned when I got home and opened the bag to find that the main (advertised as serving 4 @ $40) would barely feed two at a push. Our next patronage will be when venues are open again.

Mitchell Harris wine bar deserves the great reviews it gets. It really is yet another Ballarat find. It provides excellent food – that is fresh, tasty and interesting, and has a really good selection of wines by the glass, that are reasonably priced. Service is outstanding, knowledgeable but not intrusive. A special dinner out for us (3 people) cost $75 a head including drinks – very reasonable I think. The place is easy to miss from the street – but inside its really welcoming and comfortable. Highly recommended.

I did some research to find a nice wine bar in Ballarat and the name Mitchell Harris Wine Bar came up frequently in my search so I decided to visit this place. Its located in the CBD of Ballarat. It was a really good find and a classy wine bar with indoor and outdoor seating with wine barrels used as tables. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not eat here but the menu looked good as well as the food I saw coming out of the kitchen. Drinks list of wines and beers, offered a great selection with both overseas and local beers on offer. I made several visits to this venue and enjoyed several different drinks including a local Ballarat beer called Red Duck, an Austrian Beer called Trumer Pils and a glass of Prosecco. I did not like that to make a booking one needs to have a minimum spend of $25 per person. I didn't make a booking so as a walk in I was allocated a table with no minimum spend.

I recently went here on a first date, and it was fantastic! The drinks were amazing, and food was spectacular. The best part for me was that the food was able to be shared and also in appropriate size portions. Hope to come here again soon!

First visit to Micthell Harris Wine Bar and we'll definately be back. Warmly greeted on arrival, the lovely old brick building was full of character. Extensive list of wines with a good selection by the glass. We chose the 'grazing plate' option for lunch and found it to be both plentiful as well as delicious. Highly recommended to both locals and those taking the short 60 minute drive along the freeway from Melbourne.

What a great night. I rate Mitchell Harris Wine Bar a 10 out of 10. The staff were so professional and experienced. The atmosphere was one of the best in Ballarat and the food and wine were amazing. As a type one diabetic and coeliac dining out can be difficult. Not tonight though. All my dietary requirement were met without any hassle. Such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Thanks so much

We decided on an adventure catching the afternoon train from Maryborough to Ballarat with a view to finding the Mitchell Harris wine bar because the picture in a tourist guide book looked good. The wine bar turned out to be less than 15 min.walk from station and was open on a Monday afternoon which can be a novelty in this region.Staff were friendly and efficient, the building has a great atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed glasse of red and white local wines with a tasty shared platter of meats, olives etc.Clearly this is a very well run wine bar.

The staff were friendly and personable. The wine was perfect. We shared the warm olives, steak and the salad between two, which worked perfectly for us. The steak was cooked to perfection, complements to the chef!! Highly recommended for a quality food and wine experience.

What a joyful experience to discover this wine bar open on Monday and who welcomed us despite the late hour. The food is innovative and delicious- stand out the potato pizza. The staff were professional knowledgable and helpful and we enjoyed their excellent MH rose. The staff ? Tony, helped with local knowledge on places to visit too. I particularly appreciated their apologies for closing up whilst we were still enjoying the wine. A real local ⭐️

Second time lunching at Mitchell Harris Wine bar over the last few years as part of a trip to Ballarat to experience the Foto Biennale. High quality dishes, perhaps more suited to sharing (I ate a lot of Tuna in the poke!), friendly and attentive service. A high quality lunch stop and would no doubt be great for a romantic dinner.

We dropped in on our way through and stayed for longer than we anticipated. A guy called Tayler greeted us at the door with enthusiasm and a big smile . He continued to give us a phenomenal service throughout the time of our stay. He was knowledgeable friendly and fun. We absolutely loved the wine selection, and the polenta chips were to die for! We also had a cheese platter which was absolutely beautiful. It’s a fun casual environment with a modern, warm, and gorgeous fit out. We tasted both Mitchell Harris wines and other varietals. All were really fantastic. We absolutely loved our experience and want to thank Tayler for his excellent professional hospitality. We cannot wait to go back as soon as possible! A brilliant way to spend an afternoon… if you are into wine and good food, do not miss this place!
