We ordered a coffee here at 10am prior to a gallery visit. The restaurant inside had quite a few diners, but the young barista was very slow, and the waiter who took our order was a bit rushed. Anyway, I ordered a double shot coffee,...which turned out ok, nothing special. I would try another place next time. Maybe new staff being trained. I wont be unfair.More

We basically went for a coffee. Service was good. All Covid stuff done. Pizza and other meals at reasonable prices were available. Quick service and we enjoyed the quiet area before we moved onto more sight seeing

The Lane adjoins the George Hotel, in Lydiard Street, Ballarat's historic main street -- one of the finest examples of Victorian era architecture in the nation. The Lane is a great place to have a drink, or a meal. We had a meat eater's pizza,...it was certainly sufficient for lunch. I also had a pint ofice-cold Furphy ale, it was very enjoyable. The Lane can get very lively at night.More

On a cold wet Sunday morning, we drove into Ballarat looking for a cafe/coffee finding one attached to "The George" which looked modernized in what we called open apartment-style decor & the locals rise early seeing there were a few already in noisy for a...Sunday morn? We ordered our brekkie's & coffee first & that's where our total disappointment started that full flavor coffee we were expecting was flat dishwater I returned to the counter for a replacement even that one tasted Yes" stronger more like he added an extra shot to the same water seriously if this is what the local's think is acceptable they should go to the city more often? needless to say, we did not pay for the coffee's I would go as far as to say Macca's make betta coffees!!! food average, sack the coffee maker he's no barista? we did not stay @ the hotel therefore we can not comment on that! our comment is solely for the cafe, we will not be returning anytime soon we wish the locals luck in panning for a betta coffee!!!More

Very happy with the two breakfasts we had in this Cafe. We asked for my husband's second cup of coffee to be a bit hotter and it did come back hotter which is good because some other places we have been to you ask for...the coffee to be hotter and it comes back the same heat. Hot Chocolate was nice and I love the small biscuits they put with your drinksMore

We had lunch at the Lane. Plenty of choices on the menu. I had the Crispy Skin Barramundi. It was absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient.

The Lane is next to the George Hotel, it's one of the most prominent pubs in Ballarat. The bar has a good range of beers; it serves good pub grub, including pizzas and parmas. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff are hospitable.

A large group of us went here for a post wedding brunch (the day after). Great service and an excellent menu and all the food I saw and ate was to notch. Everyone in the group was very satisfied.

The wait staff were good, we visited 10 minutes before the orders closed. Hawaiian pizza was bland, as were the two prawn linguini .
