Beautifully prepared food. We loved our lunch at Northern Ground when passing through Bairnsdale. Tasty local ingredients and generous portions. I’m not into coffee but it met my husband’s high expectations, he had two. It was noisy, particularly near the counter and coffee machine, there...may been quieter spots at the back.More

This place is amazing. We were driving through town on vacation and stopped for lunch because of the great reviews. We were not disappointed! I had the wild venison sausage pasta because, as I lifelong American hunter I have been cooking wild venison for 30+...years… and am pretty good wit it! But I learned something from this chef. In fact, when I got home I repeated his dish with my own venison sausage! 😀 His recipe is that good… and unique. Simple but great. Thanks. A great chef making great meals with local ingredients. Gippsland is lucky to have this chef… and places like this are why we eat out!More

Really good coffee I am just not sure why the lids on the takeaway cups are so loose. It was unfortunate that a lot of the good coffee is between my car seats.
Visiting family in Bairnsdale I often struggle to find good coffee . My search is over! The coffee is fantastic and the staff are lovely . We are going to pop in on way home too as the food looks amazing !

Always a pleasure to eat at northern ground. The food is always well prepared and presented, and the menu is original with ever changing specials. The use of local produces is also a plus. Finally, coffee and service are always good... All in all, the...best place for lunch in Bairnsdale!More

Difficult to find but definitely worth the effort. Reasonable prices with an interesting selection on the Specials board. I had the Masterstock Pork Belly roll and it was huge, tasty, and very filling. I tried a Mimosa drink (which I found disappointing - no blame...on the maker - it was something different I decided to try). The grandchildren enjoyed their burgers. We sat outside in the welcome breeze. Helpful staff. Can recommend!More

Amazing food! I had the mushroom pasta and it was soooo delicious. There was five of us at this sitting and not one bit of food left on anyone’s plate! Will definitely visit again. Compliments to the chef. Probably my only comment was the waitress...eagerness to get us out and interrupted our meal to say we had 30 minutes left before we had to leave. Only miner and the food was well and truely worth it.More

You would miss this place if you didn’t know it was there. Ordered the burgers which were nice however, a suggestion of a side of fries would top it off. The chef was extremely accommodating for variations with the menu due to intolerance to certain...foods. The other food was delicious and tasty. Would certainly visit again plus the waiting staff were friendly, professional and attentive. A credit to the restaurant.More

Great place to eat in Bairnsdale! Beautiful outdoor area at the back of the building to be seated at. Food was great and service was good, would definitely visit again if down that way.

We come for breakfast every week and it’s always fantastic. The chef does the best scrambled eggs of anywhere we’ve eaten in Victoria.
