We stopped in on a Sunday night (also Mother’s Day) we’d already been tired away from two restaurants who were full. Most places were closed on a Sunday night. The woman in charge found us a table, told us to stay as long as we...wanted despite the business of the restaurant. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. The garlic pizza was delicious and came out straight away. We waited a while for our main (but had been warned about that when we sat down). After a while the waitress went to check on our food and it was delivered within moments. Everything we ate was absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend to anyone who visits Launceston.More

Oh my goodness, amazing food! We got take away - pizzas, pastas and gluten free pastas. Everyone one said their meal was outstanding. I had the gluten free spaghetti bolognaise and the pasta was amazing. Cannot recommend this place enough and I will definitely be...eating there again the next time we are in Launceston.More

My partner and I recently dined at La Cantina and weren't disappointed. It had been years since I had been, and the quaint Nona decor remains the same, but the food was great and value for money we felt. I had the scallops - the...sauce was delicious, and my partner had chicken - again, he was very happy with his choice. We sat down at 6:30 and our meals were in front of us before 7pm, so very speedy, friendly service. The menu choice is extensive, so there would be something there to keep everyone happy. We didn't need dessert, so can't comment on that. We will be back for sure.More

The most disappointing restaurant in Tasmania. We were visited only once by a waitress who took our order, and never came back in the hour and a half we were at the restaurant, too bad if we wanted another drink, which we did. We were...dished up a salad with cherry tomatoes that looked like prunes and very bitter lettuce. Having tasted just one lettuce leaf the rest of the salad remained untouched. It was eventually taken away, without a comment, who takes a full salad bowl away without questions? And to top it off we were charged for large pizzas, yet only ordered small, I challenged the bill, but the junior staff member on the till refused to adjust it, despite the fact it was the waitress’s error!! I was not going to make a scene, it’s stressful enough in these covid times. Please find somewhere else to dine, where you get fresh food and charged correctly and you dont get deceptively billed. Launceston has some great establishments with fresh food and attentive staff, who listen and bill honestly, hit one-of those, and give this place a wide birth.More

We stumbled upon La Cantina and I'm so pleased we did. The staff were friendly and efficient, the ambience of the restaurant was pleasing, but it was the food that made the evening so special. Real authentic Italian food, was so tasty and well presented....We really enjoyed the meal and highly recommend this placeMore

Amazing food, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend. The pizza base, sauce and toppings were delicious, as was the seafood dish. Can't wait to come back.

During our recent Tasmanian holiday including Launcestin, the restaurant at our hotel was closed on Sunday and Monday evenings, so we ventured down George Street looking for a restaurant that was open on Sunday. There was little choice but we decided the menu at La...Cantina looked inviting. We were not disappointed. The service was impeccable and the staff were very friendly. The spaghetti marinara was delicious, piping hot and contained a very generous amount of succulent seafood. The fettuccine carbonara was very flavoursome and also piping hot. The serving was particularly generous. We were pleased we left a little room for dessert. The cassava was very good and the apple pie was great. The wine list is extensive and the wines are very reasonably priced. When next in Launceston we will visit this restaurant again.More

La Cantina is our go-to restaurant for the best, moderately priced, Italian cuisine in Launceston. Their drinks menu in particular presents great value and we could not fault the quality of the garlic pizza entree and pastas we ate. The seats are very comfortable, tables...well spaced with white cloths, and ambience good - although the decor seems more Spanish than Italian. The background (Italian tenor) music was also a tad loud in our view. Staff are very pleasant and attentive, but mostly quite young and thus not able to add any appreciable knowledge about the dishes.More

Launceston is a funny place to try and work out busy restaurant times, whether bookings are required etc so on Sunday night we had guests in town and thought Italian might be nice. La Cantina was open so we booked a table for 4 and...off we went. A review is about being perfectly honest so I must say service at the beginning was not great and we had to gain staffs attention twice for menus and service but that was where the negatives end. We ordered the garlic bread pizza for entree and then 2 of us felt like a good old fashion Fettuccine Carbonara and the other 2 opted for the Rigatoni con Gamberi. The garlic pizza hit the spot like a well thrown dart and once finished, the pasta followed a short time later. This is where the OMG (Oh My God) factor came in. The first mouthful of homemade Carbonara left me speechless and wondering how I had not eaten this delight in so long. I was then offered a fork full of the Rigatoni and wanted to decline, based on the heavenly happenings on my tastebuds but tried it. Good move, the perfect blend of garlic, white wine and prawns was probably even more delicious if that was possible. Meals were a perfect size and we followed it up with desert, I could have been a pig and ordered one of everything but we all tried something different and all were as good as each other. This is the 2nd time we have tried La Cantina since moving to Launceston in April and based on both experiences, will do so many more times to come. I need to add that once the initial service issue was overcome, the staff were beautiful and friendly, knowledgeable and prompt and we had a wonderful experience.More
