Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'd you're looking for gluten free food and want to be treated like a human, this is the perfect spot. There is a surcharge for stupid gluten questions, because the place is 100%GF. Read the entire menu: there are several pearls of humour that had our whole table laughing. AND: the GF bread tastes like real, soft, crusty bread! I know!

Popped in here for breakfast and had an enjoyable time.
The food was great and the waiter really listened to our specific requests and got it spot on.
Bacon and poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the avocado on toast was perfect.
We will definitely be back again.

We stumbled across the best place for breakfast in Launceston quiet by accident. But what a wonderful find. The staff were friendly knowledgeable and very welcoming. We ordered the Bacon and eggs ( cooked perfectly) and the house made fruit toast that was delicious. The cafe decor is an added bonus and a delightful talking piece during breakfast. Highly recommend even if it’s just to pop in the grab a coffee.

Paid for a coffee and then was Ignored left without a table
When I finally inherited a dirty table full of dirty dishes I waited and waited
Other customers got their orders but not me
Eventually the sarcastic man brought a coffee in a dirty cup with lipstick on it and a mismatched saucer
It was easier to leave it and walk out which I did
I didn't want to catch anything

Over the past two years I've dropped in a few times for a coffee and cake, and each time have left disappointed. The cakes and slices from the display cabinets have invariably been too dry to eat. I'd hoped the first time was just bad luck but I never tasted a single thing that didn't feel stale. Vibe of the interior is generally greasy. The male manager (owner?) has each time been loud and apparently hungover, though he's greeted happily by regulars. Coffee is unremarkable. The building itself is interesting, although the upstairs back room feels like the smoking area of a pub. Overall it might be cosy if you're part of the in-group but for the casual customer passing through, there's plenty of better options throughout town.

We were a group of 10 women out for a weekend away and had booked here for a 10.30 breakfast. We were all up and ready to go early so we rang the restaurant to ask if it would be possible to fit us in an hour earlier. We stressed that if it was inconvenient in any way then we would be happy to keep our original booking. We were advised that it would be fine. When we arrived we were asked to order as quickly as possible, which we did. We all had just finished our breakfast when, I assume the owner, came to us and very patronisingly told us we needed to learn a thing or two about how kitchens work and how difficult we made it for everyone in the kitchen because we arrived early. I told him we had rung and checked and were told it was all fine to come in early. It was obvious that this man was in a very bad mood and felt the need to take out his temper tantrum on us, his valuable customers. I have heard since then that this is not the first time this has happened. Needless to say, we will never return and would not recommend going and being dressed down by a man that can’t control his bad mood.

Samuel Pepys would have to be one of the friendliest cafes I have visited.
My partner had eggs Benny with a generous serve of hollandaise and the delicious home made tasting sort, not the store bought.
I had the most delicious home made fruit toast, it was sort of damper style - yum!
Half of the people who walked in while we were there got a hug from staff, maybe next time we will too :-)

Toasties (with lactose free cheese, and gluten free bread) were a major highlight!
Having an entire gluten free menu must be really great for those who are allergic or coeliac. As the risk of contamination is high in mixed establishments.
The breaky burger was too sweet, and the waffles were obviously gluten free (tougher) - but nothing significant enough to stop me from returning to try other items.
If you have intolerances, would recommend a toastie without any hesitation

We popped in here on our way out of Launceston based purely on the reviews. I was super excited to learn EVERYTHING was gluten free!! The coffee was amazing & the gluten free toastie was delicious. I would definitely recommend stopping in here, even if you don’t need gluten free! I was a little sad we wouldn’t be in town longer to allow me time to work through the menu. Even my husband who eats “normal” food was impressed with the toastie! Highly recommend stopping here.
Two large coffees & a GF toastie were $22, very well priced!

Absolutely the best place for a gluten free breakfast!! We were welcomed by friendly staff and an atmosphere that truly whisked us back in time. The place was clean and our table upstairs had a picturesque view of the busy street below. The coffee was beautiful (although could’ve been a little hotter) and very reasonably priced! All complimented by the most amazing food! We had eggs benedict on salmon and a half serve of the fried chicken waffles with bacon and maple syrup (just as well too as it was extremely filling!) the service was quick and the food was lovely and fresh (with the best gf fried chicken and waffles I’ve ever had!). Don’t miss this place when visiting Launceston - it’s well and truly the best.

The first thing you notice is the quirky decor - an eclectic mix of everything odd! In contrast there is nothing odd about the food or service - the menu has a good selection of dishes and the front of house staff are excellent. Service was timely and all our dishes were tasty

You know when you have an an experience that is stand out and you just want to share- this was my breaky here this morning
Feels a bit like walking into someone’s house with lots of welcoming smiles from the staff - as if they are actually engaging with you!!!! My waitress could not have been more genuinely friendly
I stumped up for the Avo Smash - very generous proportions and the beetroot jam was a delicious addition
Very glad I stopped in for breaky this mornin

We had 2 families of four with 3 teen age boys and managed to satisfy them all. All of our breakfasts were very nice, my son still raves about the KFC chicken and waffles. The service was very friendly making you feel right at home. We sat upstairs where there was plenty of room. The coffee was very good also. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone especially families. $205.00 to feed 8 people. The Local tea was a hit as well.

A must-see for Breakfast in Launceston!
Walk into a quirky cafe decorated in spoons. The owner Jason made an instant first impression to our group of six.
Without a booking we were welcomed to a menu made for GF/DF tummies without any fuss. We just wish we found the cafe sooner!

My wife is gluten and dairy intolerant and this place was wonderful (she could eat almost everything on the menu without needing to modify it). Service was great, food was tasty (not just "good for gluten free" properly good), staff were personable and knowledgeable. Will return, no question.
