Great location in Launceston CBD, near the entrance to the Centreway Arcade. Just a few steps down a little laneway from The Avenue. My daughter goes there for coffee everyday. Sunny, nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Takeaway also available.
Lunch menu is well priced and varied, good children's menu too. Our order of eggs, bacon, mushrooms with hollandaise on sourdough and croissant were delicious and filling. Food is beautifully presented. The Mo Mo dumplings tasted so good too, but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so took them home to enjoy later.
Lovely cafe for catching up with friends for quick snack or more substantial meal. Will be returning there soon.

This cafe is hidden in the walkway alley & well worth the find. The menu caters for many tastes & does not disappoint.
We had the avo smash, the omelette & pancakes which were all great in both presentation and taste.
The staff were so friendly & made the visit personalised. Whilst watching other diners the staff were attentive and took pride in knowing drinks of regular customers.
We dined in and the service time was superb
Whilst bookings aren’t necessary, we booked ahead & I would suggest doing so to avoid disappointment.
Highly recommend and we will be back.

Visiting Launceston and looking for a nice place for lunch for my mum and myself I came across Local Hideout Cafe. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere warm, friendly and quiet enough to chill and converse. The menue was inviting and would suit a range of tastes. The food is made in house and to order and was Truly DELICIOUS. Mum is a coffee connoisseur and her double shot flat white was spot on. My tea was perfect. Will certainly br returning and will work my way through the inviting menue. Well done, don’t change a thing. PERFECT 😁

Service was nice and friendly lol I ordered the pancakes and was confused with what I was presented with... it looked like a child had plated it up and tasted like a store bought pancake, you know the Cripps ones? They were cold 🥶 Three small pancakes, sliced apple and 1 blueberry on the plate 🤣I had to laugh to myself when I saw it. It’s the thought that counts I suppose xx I suggest this place if you are not very hungry x

This place is located in the laneway just behind Oscar Whaley.
It serves delicious home made food and amazing coffee. While I didn't have great coffees in Tassie and sometimes very pricy too, this was a place where I enjoyed a great cup of coffee chatting to the friendly owners.
Would definitely recommend this palce and head back again.

What a great find. The Local Hideout Cafe was recommended to us by friends and I’m so glad it was. It is hidden away down an alleyway, but we’ll worth the search for it. We were greeted by very friendly staff who went out of their way to give us the table we wanted. My friend ordered poached eggs on sourdough and it came with a dish of smashed avocado. She said they the eggs were perfectly done and delicious. I ordered the pancakes which were outstanding. They came with map,e syrup and raspberry sauce, cream, icecream and fruit. Some of the best pancakes I’ve had. I would definitely recommend this cafe and will return next time I’m in Launceston.

Don't let the decor of this cafe deceive you. The staff are attentive, the coffee hits the spot and the food is outstanding! It's evident why the locals are regulars here. We enjoyed a couple of double shot coffees (our standard order) plus bacon and egg rolls, minus the hash browns please (so they added an extra egg for us). We arrived just after a large table had ordered, but when we advised our waitress we had a booking to get to, she said she'd check with the kitchen and within 5 mins we had our breakfast in front of us. We really appreciated that level of service and the large group seemed set in for a big long catch up and were served shortly after us in any case. Check it out when in Lonnie.

This little cafe won’t be a hideout for long! Judging by the turnover of patrons both inside and out, the word will quickly spread about how wonderful the food and staff are!
We went for breakfast, two of us having the big breakfast which came laden with eggs your choice, bacon, hash browns, baked beans, spinach, tomato, chorizo, mushrooms and 2 slices of sourdough. The eggs were poached to perfection and my husband’s scrambled eggs looked rich and creamy. Our daughter had the open croissant which came with a variety of accompaniments and was also met with much approval. The coffee is good and the service very friendly. We will definitely be back- the lunch menu looks great too!! Highly recommend!!

Coffee was excellent. However I ordered croissant with scrambled eggs, tomato and bacon, but instead order came out with halloumi, spinach and mushroom. Order was returned with tomato and bacon, but the dish was now cold and the salad was going rotten inside. I hope we don't get sick. See photos. Also when went to pay the bill, we were charged for large coffees when we only ordered medium. The entire experience was disgraceful for the supposed number 1 cafe. I won't trust reviews again.

I found this place completely by accident when walking down the main Launceston street trying to find somewhere cute for breakfast, but also for coffee. This place was the best find. So much so, I visited here every single day while I stayed in Launceston... By the 3rd day they knew my name and coffee order. I'm from a large city so this is not something I'm used to and was very impressed. I also loved how they had personalised messages on the takeaway coffee cups. I always looked forward to a new message each day.
Staff are friendly, the coffee is to die for, and the food was delish. Highly recommend the eggs benedict. So good. Even their toasties and muffins were delicious, freshly made.
This place definitely worth a visit when your're in Launnie. Very cute place. If I ever return to Launnie I'll go back :) Thank you for a wonderful customer experience.

If you are looking for a great coffee and fantastic food you will find it hard to go past this Cafe. Staff were really friendly. Very popular and may be a bit difficult to get a table but the staff will take your number and call you when a table is ready while you can shop a bit more while waiting....it is worth waiting for though !

Really friendly staff who took great care of my coeliac children. They cooked all their food separately to ensure no cross contamination with any gluten. The food was very tasty, especially the Brekkie Burger. Would definitely come again

I tried something new from the drinks menu and absolutely loved it, Matcha Latte.
We both had the bacon, egg and hash brown roll and it was served on a Brioche bun sided with an Indian spiced sauce which really topped it off.
Partner’s coffee was very good too.
The service was very fast and friendly regardless of how busy they were.
I would definitely recommend a visit if you like something non main stream.

What an amazing little cafe. The staff were super friendly, the food was amazing and it was toasty warm inside which is nice on a cold day. There was a little wait in our meals because they were busy but it was definitely worth the wait. Highly
Recommend you visit this little gem.

Professional but casual, friendly and inviting atmosphere. Has all day breakfast options which was perfect for me today. Just the thing to hit the spot. The Hideout Cafe is a stupendously delightful Cafe in the heart if the Launceston CBD. Open 7am for prime convenience on the days when cooking just isn't what you are after but you still want good food.
